I've had a Himalayan for several years and I just got a KLR650. I haven't practiced the elephant turn on either because I've never seen a good explanation until now. Thanks!
🤝 Thanks! There is a lot that happens in a very short amount of time to make a successful elephant turn 😅. This is why I like the step by step approach.
@@filiplesiak5096 Thanks for letting us know you enjoyed the video. There are a lot of this that have to happen in a very short amount of time for a successful elephant turn! Let us know how your practice goes 👍🏻
Thanks for that very informative explanation. I have a 1250GS and this is one thing I would like to master. Next time I see a surface like you described I will give it a go. Thank you again and keep up the good work on the videos. 👌👍
Thanks! Glad you liked the video. Certainly having a surface that is a little loose will help with that rear tire spin, but more importantly I think it’s being comfortable with supporting the bike in the lean. 👍🏻 Hope your practice goes well!
@@advmotoskillz Thanks for the additional advice. 👍 I just turned 60 and had the GS for about 4 years using it off-road mostly and this additional skill would come in handy. I'm not afraid to drop it trying.🤣 Stay safe.
@@thehairyleggedbikers.darre2510 Yes👍🏻 Good to get comfortable with the standing version first. Certainly, for those riders who are tall and have a healthy set of legs it is “easier”

I really, really appreciate you repeating yourself. The 'tism doesn't tend to absorb information on the first try so hearing the same thing again means I don't have to rewatch the whole video a few seconds at a time 😅

I'm short for my bike and cant get to lean it alot before the weight becomes too heavy to support the bike on 1 leg when doing the Elephant turn while ontop of the bike. D:
The T7 is a fun bike! Good to be a little apprehensive... respect the weight. The standing version is the way to start things off👍, Be sure to check out our other 2 videos on the Elephant Turn for more clarity if needed, and let us know how you do.
If you actually want to learn this you are going to drop your bike so many times by the time you feel comfortable you can use it on the trail in the middle of nowhere you should buy a cheap beater dirtbike to just beat up like a cheap old XR Honda or a beat up DR or cheap two stroke And learn all the cool ways to zero turn a bike
Ive tried the big bike off road thing, its just not for me. 40 years on 2 strokes off road, why would I want a 500 lb or 600 lb bike? Marketing has done a great job selling these monsters. Too many friends have broke themselves playing dirtbiker on huge bikes. I got a new 690, much more like a dirtbike.
Completely understand. I didn’t start out riding on dirt bikes, and I find them uncomfortable to ride 😅. It all comes down to the style of riding you enjoy. I have been trying my hand at dirt bikes lately, and they certainly need a different approach than an ADV bike. It all comes down to: the more a rider develops their skill, the more enjoyable the ride is, no matter what discipline!

Great video! Just wondering: isn't this easier if you hang the bike from a crane? :D
😂 certainly there is an advantage to having some height…
Seems like when this would be most helpful I’m on a knarly hill & end up duck walking my way back to a turn around spot.
😅 as long as the turn around is safe... it's all good! I find it helpful on single lane roads or tight trails when there is a need to turn back
