My first experience with this game: Start as unmodified, skilless survivor with supremely high str but nothing else. Bad day scenario, not really understanding how bad it would be, immediately doused with green tiles while figuring out and memorizing some key commands. I move around but my limbs had wierd symbols at their bars suddenly and cant move, die after a ton of turns. I realised later what had happened is my character was drenched in flesh eating acid and desperately flailed after my hands and feet had melted off. I was alive for a long time in that acid. He had quite the fighting spirit that one.
my first time playing the game i picked humanitarian car crash survivor, spawned in car next to a dairy farm got out, started with bandages so I healed myself and then got attacked my 7 undead cows. 10/10 would die to zombie cows again
So I created "Mega City One" and when I jumped in, it was a complete warzone. A massive anthill had formed in an undeveloped section in the heart of "Mega-1" and every street was the same. Blood, bones, bodies. The Ants and Undead fought vociferously for every block, every street corner. My test character, drawing inspiration from Bran's story, was a biotic monster named "Error". He has no past, no memory of what was before, only that now he is a "thing". His goal? Remove all of his biotics. Everything from his razor sharp biotic claws, to his squeaky biotic hinges, to his improperly installed biotic limbs that lock up and cause Error to fall on his face in the most dire circumstances. If you haven't already, I suggest everyone try "Mega City One" at least once in Cataclysm. It brings an intensity to the game that is most painfully, appreciated.
think that bad wait till you happen accross a fungel tower, the spreading fungus destories buildings, causing loud noisies which draw zombies. the zombies fight the mycons, die and get assimilated into fungel zombies. it will continue to spread and god help you if it catches on fire without it raining. the fire will crash your system.
Just realized, you could role play the low strength and dexterity as weakened muscles/slowed reaction times from drug use. Also, the light step could come from constant paranoia while on drugs, which would come from him being cautious about revealing where he is to cops.
That makes complete sense espically being light footed. I myself have learned to walk nearly completely sliently do to envorimental factors in my early childhood so it's completely reasonable in my opinion.
Bran stared at the ground lost in thought. In the distance he could hear the sounds of metal creaking, glass smashing, and terrifying screams as the day slowly wore on. “It truly is the end of the world,” he thought, trying to desperately hold back a panic attack. He was currently cornered in this high end home with far to many windows, far too many entries, far too little places to hide. He pressed a shaking hand underneath his bifocals until he could see constellations in his eyelids. “What do I do now?”
41:55 "If we quickly run... No, there are others out there as well. ... What kind? .... Ok. Spitter zombie, don't like that. *Nope* Don't like most of this really. Let's take a step back inside." I'm dying over here
Spitters are my most hated common zombie. Yeah, there are many creatures far worse to run into, but spitters can make your life very difficult (or nonexistent) in the early game. Even when you have good protection, they're still a nuisance. I've lost many followers and good items to those bastards.
Oh, what a cool scenario. I noted there where many basements, and since the streets are extremely dangerous, you should consider getting an pickaxe and then dig between basement (and to the sewers) to create a safe underground highway and have you base at the center. That way you can escape into the underground with defensible hardpoints when the above ground gets to dangerous, bypass hordes and the like and travel safely. And if nothing else it gives you emergency escape point should your base become overrun up top.
You, Eat, IRON BRAN, Giving you best Health in the land... Part of a Bal-lenced fast, you will learn the health ben-i-fits ok not the best thing but you get how the commerical could go
Excellent. I love the set up. I have really high hopes for this series. Thinking of all the really cool cyborg art I could draw for this has me grinning.
What a great intro. Very moving--esp at the end with the hand against the glass. Shivers... Then the scene shifts to that cute little guy in glasses, and I couldn't stop laughing :)
Just started playing, currently living in a fire tower trying to figure out how to make a washboard. Love your chibi texture pack in this video definitely caught me off guard!
Looks promising. Great intro. The level of zombies you are getting already seem more then a bit overpowered for the first few minutes after spawning in... If that rate keeps on, he won't last long. I hope this isn't really short. If you get taken out early on, I would say redo, but with a few settings tweaked. I would like to see a city playthrough, but it isn't any fun if it turns into one giant overpowered hoard everywhere, and no escape. Good to see that Labs still spawn in. :) 'Bran' always makes me think of a healthy cereal. :P And 'Iron Bran' even more so.
I'm getting a vibe from the intro that Bran was angered from his firing from his company and his rage caused him to slip up and end up harming a lot of people during augmentation. But hey, just hunch.
Interesting new series! I haven't played much lately, I did have amazing luck with a RBD-scenario where my starting house was on the outskirts of a city so I could just run to (relative) safety, and I later found a single barrel shotgun in a gastation which I used to clear out a motel. And my real luck was that I found some of the weak antibiotic on a dead zombie and that I lucked out in that the first dose took care of the infection. Don't know what I would have done if I hadn't found that, I'm not very good at RBD. Next time I'm starting a really bad day I'm probably gonna try to find a working car or just learn to skulk around in the city, which I must say, you are showing off pretty good here! Let's hope for a long series :)
Rycon, I highly recommend giving throwing sticks a try, they are an excellent option for taking out those nasty spitters and shockers, plus you can train the throwing skill in your auto-doc basement without taking any risks. With a throwing skill of 4 you can expect to see them crit for 40+ damage pretty reliably and there is a virtually unlimited supply of materials to make them with.
Throwing sticks are great, but I personally try to avoid them except in the very early game. they're OP for what they are, which leads to me getting cocky, which often leads to my death.
Great job Rycon. I don’t have enough time to watch all of your great work but I managed to find an old windows tablet that I’m installing CDDA on and will watch this series for tips! Knife Spear =Good!
Getting good vibes about this series. Leif was fun and interesting to watch but maybe a little too slow for my tastes. I've no doubt this will probably be the hardest C:DDA series you've done but I've full confidence in you Rycon. Getting a base set up should will be really interesting too. With the amount of materials around you and the various locations to set up I can only imagine the possibilities.
Ok, cataclysm is a great game an all but it has some seriosly stupid moral modifiers. -5 for killing a zombie child yet you have -40 for being wet. I've been caught in a rainstorm a few times and it didn't make me instantly depressed. That stuff really needs a re-balance/rework.
Cheese sandvich not going to lie I’ve been camping and gotten all my clothes wet due to a flooded tent it is extremely demoralizing you seriously don’t really want to do anything till you get dry.
Ok, I get that. But the mood penalties should not be more than what you get for killing the zombie children. -5 or -3 to your mood would be fine, but not -40.
Actually being wet penalty is cumulative the more you stay in the rain the worst it gets, walking on the rain for 2 hours making you soaking wet is pretty bad
It's certainly a bit unrealistic. Killing zombie children is something that should be really heavy early on and drop. It's not that heavy early on, needs to be increased imo. I'd rather see the wet penalty be something that accounts for how cold you are as well. If you're wet in the summer you don't care much. Being wet and cold in the freezing winter should cause serious worry unless you dry up. It's very easy to deal with in most circumstances though.
Maybe the reason he got into drugs is from having asthma and having to use his inhaler for all his life. Maybe he did an extra pump one time, maybe more. Loving this already.
I'm trying to figure out how someone could be both farsighted and near sighted and a fast reader. I assume one eye is for up close, and the other is for distance, and he reads with one eye closed. From my understanding the only way that you could have such radically different optical power in either eye would be from an eye injury.
Honestly, living in a massive city like this would be the absolute worst outcome in a zombie apocalypse lmao, so many zombies. More to loot, sure, but so. Many. Zombies. Lol.
I'm like 10 minutes in and as far as I can tell this..really isn't a roleplay. It seems just like a normal let's play. (The playlist it titled 'Let's Roleplay Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead "Bran's Tale")
When a character is very unhappy, or depressed, you get "thoughts" like that popping up. He is wet, wearing filthy gear, and had to put down a number of child-zombies... So he is miserable.

@Alex G Well i would imagine fights between giant ants and zombies are noisy
I AM ERROR
So how did it go? Did Error get what he wanted? Did he live long?
@@Pilot3778He accidentally slept in a bad spot and starved to death.

Amazing Character Dev skils
Or also paranoia due to halucinations induced due to suvstance abuse and probably withdrawals

Likely a bit late, but Bran probably knows how to use the scalpel in a form of butchery to dissect his old friend for potential CBMs.
I advise to use sewers and subway as main form of travel "safe" and can lead into labs
Isn't he too weak for lifting up those covers though? (if that's even a thing in this game)

Thing is sound though, wouldnt digging alert the zombies?
“Well, at least I can tell the time” -Bran after going through all that
Just wanted to say that I am enthralled by the production quality you're exhibiting with this one. I'm really excited about this new series!
This series has a high chance of being short.

Welp, didn't think you could possibly make a more enthralling series apart from Akira Frost but here we are.
That prologue man! *Awesome*
Rycon should write novels man. Straight up fantastic story telling

I swear every time I start off in a city zone I immediately find myself caught between zom dogs and numerous shocker zombies.

Bran forgot to pulp the Zombie Cop!
Fantastic start to this series though.
Rycon yes! I've had my eye on CDDA for a while now and I'm so stoked to watch you play it!

Damn it, rycon! Now I gotta decide between another charecter in cataclysm and marathoning pillars of eternity.
pretty cool intro, especially the part about brans friend becoming a murderous machine, might be an early representation of what brans gonna become
That house north of your autodoc house would be a good candidate to burn down.
Now THAT is a start to a series! :-)
Know next to nothing about cataclysm but I'm ready to binge more rycon nonetheless

love the intro Scott

I sure do!
Wonderful intro dude good job hope bran makes it far.
Wow, this intro was amazing! I’m hooked now :)
You got yourself a new sub mate, fantastic. what tile set do you use?
Hey, I'm using DeadPeople's currently, at the start it's chestholes =)

Definitely
That intro is nice its really like a movie
Damn, have you ever done any voice acting gigs?
Only a few side ones. Nothing professional 😊

A filthy riot helmet; that's bloody tempting. I see what you did there.
That was an F-ing awesome intro!

I love the story at the beginning of your video
such a great premise. I wish 2077 or fallout let you collect so many augments
Bran hasn't found anything out about his friend, perhaps he'll find closure in the coming days.

love this new series rycon thanks for the great roleplay

Awesome first episode!

A Bran'd new series.

For a second I thought that you were about to screw yourself over by killing the fat Zombie but then you proved that you've played this game before😉
This is like a combination of deus ex, doctor strange, and blade runner.
Awesome LP
YES, CUTSCENES!!!!!
Dude, top intro!
@ryconroleplays , I just realized that most of this video is footage of sydney nsw reds hometown
Wow, good luck. This looks like instadeath to me.
A lab base? Sounds cool.
This is the first i've ever heard of this game ;-;
Cool intro.
Have you seen The Upgrade? It's all about bionics.
Could you not use the radio. Break it down for parts for the light strip?
Hey can you explain, if the sound pack ur using has any special difference to others like @'s soundpack ? Thanks !
We will be following dusk's tale until her untimely demise and in this game an early death is pretty much guaranteed
Really good
Mega City 1? Go find Judge Dredd!
