How much does a home like that cost today (i.e., before the remodel)? Why I am asking, I am thinking of moving there but am not sure if I can swing it.
Thank you so much! A home in our condominium complex sold for $328,000 cash but did not have the view that we have but they did have a smaller deal with the Lake. So typically in a gated community in Ajijic you would be paying $325,000 and up. If you bought more of the fixer-upper your construction cost and remodeling cost would be anywhere from $35 and up for a square foot. Our home is 1200 ft.² so for 1000 square-foot home figured out $35,000 enough to remodel that would include a new kitchen, a new bathroom, electrical work, but no furniture.

Depends today's real estate market has gone up just like everywhere else. I will give you a range between $250,000-$350,000 with the association HOA fees $225 a month.
I just can't say enough about how beautiful your house is! I like colonial style architecture more because I thought it looked more like Mexico. Wow have you proven me wrong! You have the perfect marriage of colonial / modern design that gives us gringo the color we want to see but also the clean lines and airy feeling of white walls. I have never seen the paint technique of using the 2 most intense colors as trim or in the archway. I think I might have to steal that idea. We are just about ready to begin our own renovation but I think we are having one of the problems you did in the past. The person in the house now is waiting on her home to be finished and having trouble with the contractor who just quit working and took off with her money. So we just wait and plan for now knowing it will happen soon. You have given me so many good ideas! I just love your place!

I like when you live in another country like Mexico you can really play with the colors you can do things here that you couldn't do in most parts of the United States I know when we're traveling in Florida or in the Bahamas I love the colors they're also very subtle and very pastel. Absolutely beautiful property. I have four Mini Aussies and unfortunately need a gated yard. Can you recommend an area close by that has a least 10,000 sq’ of land. I’m guessing gated community isn’t an option.
Beautiful place, Jerry and Lori. You know what I have found very interesting in my 25 years living in Mexico? I have been blessed to be wed to a Mexican Lady from Leon, Gto. and we have been invited into many homes in Mexico over those years from both very wealthy and poor families. Both extranjeros and Mexican. We have never entered a Mexican family's home that looked anything like where you live, but have entered Many homes of extranjeros that look a lot like where you live. My wife is amazed when the extranjeros ask her what she thinks of their "Mexican" home. We always have a little laugh (privately) as we don;t want to hurt anyone's feelings. People actually believe that Mexican homes look like that. Homes of foreigners look like that, and can be built in any country. Most Mexican homes are white (inside and out), except for the poor who sometmes don't have much paint and is often various colors. Some pueblos that are touristy have houses painted different colors outside to attract foreign tourists, as that is what the tourists think is "real" Mexico. Just very curious, don't you think? Nancy I'll try my best. The location is Ribera Chapala approximately 5 miles East of Ajijic. 1 if your coming from Ajijic East towards Chapala. 2 mom's restaurant is on the right hand side. 3 right across the street mountain side you'll see a car parts store I'm not sure it may be AutoZone 4 there is a surface street that runs parallel from the Carretera ( main Street ) turn right onto the surface street head back towards Ajijic about 100 yards and his place is on the right hand side the building is a loyal blue and gold. 5 he took in a Oaxaca rug and he got the pattern from the rug that we brought in and the colors. 6 I don't remember what we paid but he replaced the hardware on the drawers also so the drawers slide in and out very easy.

We live in upper Ajijic and we do live in gated Community. Our under ground water tank is filled up three times a week and sometimes we run out of water.
That’s nice, the view. But, personally, we don’t like all that light, except by the porch, patio. We’d probably have pull drapes, mountains are beautiful. I know in America, in the last several years, they’ve pushed this feature in homes, ‘open floor plan’. We wouldn’t want that, but, it’s hard to find something without an open floor plan. We like individual rooms, we think designers created open floor plans and pushed them, as a good feature, bec they’re less expensive, as opposed to individual rooms. Beautiful house, though, view, ty for sharing. This is your house? Nice, we just don’t like lots of light in our home, we go to a store, where they sell toiletries, shampoos, cosmetics, skin care, etc., and we always have to wear sun glasses in there, lol. But, everyone has their own tastes. God bless.
Pretty home, however, the mirror in the living room is deceiving, making the room larger than it is. I perceive the house not as Méxican as the owners want it to be. To place colorful fabric across chairs and tables don't make the furniture Méxican, nor the atmosphere.

A home in our condominium complex sold for $328,000 cash but did not have the view that we have but they did have a smaller deal with the Lake.
So typically in a gated community in Ajijic you would be paying $325,000 and up.
If you bought more of the fixer-upper your construction cost and remodeling cost would be anywhere from $35 and up for a square foot. Our home is 1200 ft.² so for 1000 square-foot home figured out $35,000 enough to remodel that would include a new kitchen, a new bathroom, electrical work, but no furniture.

Depends today's real estate market has gone up just like everywhere else. I will give you a range between $250,000-$350,000 with the association HOA fees $225 a month.
I just can't say enough about how beautiful your house is! I like colonial style architecture more because I thought it looked more like Mexico. Wow have you proven me wrong! You have the perfect marriage of colonial / modern design that gives us gringo the color we want to see but also the clean lines and airy feeling of white walls. I have never seen the paint technique of using the 2 most intense colors as trim or in the archway. I think I might have to steal that idea. We are just about ready to begin our own renovation but I think we are having one of the problems you did in the past. The person in the house now is waiting on her home to be finished and having trouble with the contractor who just quit working and took off with her money. So we just wait and plan for now knowing it will happen soon. You have given me so many good ideas! I just love your place!

Absolutely beautiful property. I have four Mini Aussies and unfortunately need a gated yard. Can you recommend an area close by that has a least 10,000 sq’ of land. I’m guessing gated community isn’t an option.

Beautiful place, Jerry and Lori. You know what I have found very interesting in my 25 years living in Mexico? I have been blessed to be wed to a Mexican Lady from Leon, Gto. and we have been invited into many homes in Mexico over those years from both very wealthy and poor families. Both extranjeros and Mexican. We have never entered a Mexican family's home that looked anything like where you live, but have entered Many homes of extranjeros that look a lot like where you live. My wife is amazed when the extranjeros ask her what she thinks of their "Mexican" home. We always have a little laugh (privately) as we don;t want to hurt anyone's feelings. People actually believe that Mexican homes look like that. Homes of foreigners look like that, and can be built in any country. Most Mexican homes are white (inside and out), except for the poor who sometmes don't have much paint and is often various colors. Some pueblos that are touristy have houses painted different colors outside to attract foreign tourists, as that is what the tourists think is "real" Mexico. Just very curious, don't you think? Enjoyed the tour. 🤠

Yes and yes we bought the home three years ago for one year we didn't do any remodeling the second year we started remodeling project and that's the one that blew up on us then we rented it out for one more year then we decided to move in so we remodeled it like we would want it and added the extras.

Nancy I'll try my best. The location is Ribera Chapala approximately 5 miles East of Ajijic.
1 if your coming from Ajijic East towards Chapala.
2 mom's restaurant is on the right hand side.
3 right across the street mountain side you'll see a car parts store I'm not sure it may be AutoZone
4 there is a surface street that runs parallel from the Carretera ( main Street ) turn right onto the surface street head back towards Ajijic about 100 yards and his place is on the right hand side the building is a loyal blue and gold.
5 he took in a Oaxaca rug and he got the pattern from the rug that we brought in and the colors.
6 I don't remember what we paid but he replaced the hardware on the drawers also so the drawers slide in and out very easy.

Are you in a Gated Community? location? How is the supply of water there? I have a small house in West Ajijic. I was thinking of selling it and looking for a larger home. Is your home connected to city water etc?
We live in upper Ajijic and we do live in gated Community. Our under ground water tank is filled up three times a week and sometimes we run out of water.

That’s nice, the view. But, personally, we don’t like all that light, except by the porch, patio. We’d probably have pull drapes, mountains are beautiful. I know in America, in the last several years, they’ve pushed this feature in homes, ‘open floor plan’. We wouldn’t want that, but, it’s hard to find something without an open floor plan. We like individual rooms, we think designers created open floor plans and pushed them, as a good feature, bec they’re less expensive, as opposed to individual rooms. Beautiful house, though, view, ty for sharing. This is your house? Nice, we just don’t like lots of light in our home, we go to a store, where they sell toiletries, shampoos, cosmetics, skin care, etc., and we always have to wear sun glasses in there, lol. But, everyone has their own tastes. God bless.

Pretty home, however, the mirror in the living room is deceiving, making the room larger than it is. I perceive the house not as Méxican as the owners want it to be. To place colorful fabric across chairs and tables don't make the furniture Méxican, nor the atmosphere.

HOA $220 month, we live in a gated community with a gate security guard, two swimming pools, common recreational area, it includes all gardening work and trash pick up.
