  • This is a 220V bench polisher from Singapore, made in 1976. It won't start by itself because the internal switch doesn't work properly. This grinder doesn't need a starter capacitor.
I hope you find this video useful and enjoy it!
Furthermore, I am happy to receive feedback, suggestions to improve myself.

@@gear_show Make sure you have some acetone around cause that stuff takes a bit to dry and when you don't think about it your fingers are glued together. Been there done that.

Nice restore. I have a bench grinder that was made in Singapore/Malaysia from around the late 1970's/early 80's too and it looks very similar but not the same. You can see this was a bench grinder originally but changed into a polishing machine. You can see the holes for where the grinding wheel guards attach to the body of the grinder and the short length of the spindle when the polishing wheel arbors are removed. The spindle also has shoulders on each side to act as a stop for the grinding wheels. Also the ends of the spindle have threads for the nuts to hold the grinding wheels in place. A specifically made polishing machine will have long spindles without needing the arbors to make them longer.
I like these older machines since they made them 'tougher' in those days. 😀

Great Job Sir. I love everything you do, but I really liked this one.... Good as new, maybe better....
I love the CA glue and the paper medium trick. And in case your viewers think that is "bs" or something, it is not. That works. Now, you can use thin cloth, paper towel, whatever you have... think of it like a fiberglassing concept... You have the cloth, you have the resin, and together it dries hard & it works....

I look at CA and my fingers are glued together. Thankfully I have the industrial acetone around. It works a hell of a lot better and quicker than Nail Polish remover. Just got to put some lotion on afterwards.

The internal switch is for a "run" winding. Once the motor is running at 1200rpm or higher the switch will open and the run winding will turn off. The main winding is powering the motor. The run winding just starts the motor in the correct rotation direction. That is why it does not havea capacitor.

    • @gear_show

This way will be efficiency than using capacitor?
