This is cool Jon. One of your more capable mods. The paint looks awesome too! Dude...that J-15...wow. What a crap show. I've never seen a plane packed like that. It almost looks like somebody screwed up and sent you one that had been sent back to them.
Hey Jon... different subject than the video. Looking at the SMC LiHV batteries and the performance/price looks great. Question for you, what charger are you using for these?
i got the su 35 but i think ill consider this one aswell, maybe put different inrunners in and modify it for thrust vectoring just for fun. i got twin 70mm from schubeler edf on my su 35. it was a pain in the arse but definitely worth the effort
I’d be very interested to know how to properly setup an AS3X on a plane like this. Do you make the gain throttle dependent, what values for which surface etc.
We use throttle-based gains. The more throttle is applied, the less intense the gains become. When flaps are dropped, the gains become very strong around the 15 to 25% throttle mark. This is all set on a curved mix so it can be adjusted easily. Values are difficult to place, you just have to try different settings out until something works.
Hello Jon, have you considered trying out the SU-35 from MRC?? I know it's EPP but I'd like to see what you can do with the TV. Should be epic. AirHammer out!!
Fms, & the ones like fms, work. I quit rektum after giving $2000 for my 20se. Dead cell in tx pack, broke screen protector, broke charge cable, used, & NO warranty! Radiomaster only now!
I am sort of a closet gyro-hater but some airframe designs are just bad at certain things, usually a trade off for some other ability they thought was more important. Gyros can help with this. So for a jet that I’m trying to force into 3d aerobatics, yeah I’d probably have a gyro. The twisted hobby’s crack turbo beaver… has terrible coupling issues so I run a gyro and it flies pretty great with it. But on my 3d mid wing tractor prop style planes, I’ve been removing the gyros, because the airframe is so much better at those maneuvers, I find the gyro just gives it a disconnected feel. So yes, gyros can be used for good. Not every gyro is purely there to cheat and do the flying for you, sometimes they help smooth out sketchy situations where our brains and thumbs can’t react quickly enough to correct tiny movements that can lead to a stall or crash. I guess they’re ok in my book but I do think there are certain airframe/flying style combinations where they offer no benefit and people are just running them because they lack confidence or cus they think it’s the cool thing to do, or to compensate for lack of manual tuning. Even then, to each their own I suppose. If you’re having fun and not hurting anyone, you’re doing it right.
Gyros offer very little benefit aside from wing rock resistance if you're flying nose heavy. That's probably why you're noticing a disconnected feel. That and not setting it up to be overridden with stick input. If you're flying tail heavy like we are with the UPEO Su-27, a gyro is required to fly it. Otherwise it becomes uncontrollable and crashes.
I was actually thinking of ordering from Porcupine RC until I heard your comment/experience. Is this the only time/experience you have had with Porcupine RC? Anybody else had a bad experience with this company? I almost placed an order with this company and now I’m second-guessing myself.
This was our only experience with them. We won't be ordering from them again, not after this fiasco. Sorry about taking so long to reply, for some reason YT didn't show your comment until now.
I was looking at porcupine rc. noticing that they are much cheaper.... so I started digging. most of thier planes are direct shipped from china and most ship the way yours did... Im going to guess it is junk that instread of throwing it away, they threw it in a box and sell it at a discount. I havn't talked to a single person that has gotten a plane that actually comes in a oem box or isn't broken or missing something. porcupinerc is barely one step over a scam.

Porcupine screwed up somewhere. We're not going to send them any more money after being sent something so objectively poor.
Freewing Su-35 is discontinued in MRC and unlike HH, they don't provide part service for discontinued planes... FMS is the only option now.
Nice flying Jon!
Hey Jon... different subject than the video. Looking at the SMC LiHV batteries and the performance/price looks great. Question for you, what charger are you using for these?
We use a Spektrum S1500 DC charger.

Where did you get your su 35?
@@tonyyimbo freewing but since of ur question i doubt u can fly any rc planes anyway so start off small
@@movedon20000 I got one new but I want extra parts . So excited to fly it
Looks amazing, is there a happy medium between the tail heavy and nose heavy? If so, does it require the battery tray mod?
You could run a dual battery setup, but that's a lot of extra wing load.
@@TwoBrosRC I saw that and prefer to go lighter rather than heavier. OK, this may be my plane to experiment with advanced macro stuff.

We'd have to get it overseas from a site like RC Castle if we ever got one. We'll look into it at some point.
@@TwoBrosRC I've a seen few videos from other people flying it that don't have your capability. I was still amazed at what this aircraft can do..
Are you still settled on the 200mm cg mark ?
Flying at 190 now with AS3X+. We'll be covering this again soon!
@TwoBrosRC thanks! I just finished the tray mod, looking forward to seeing the new vid 👍
great job! 😅👍
Thebtwin 70ies seem to be heavy on the batteries - probably the Freewing MIG-29 is her a better option (even with a TV option).
It's not too bad, we average four and a half minute flights with SMC 5900 LiHVs. You'll see soon, this jet is getting covered for its two year review.
Wow
Never understood the hang up about gyros. It only helps you reach a higher potential of flying skill.
The Soviet airplane ❤
🔨
Very nice jet, no gyro needed
We cover all of that in the vid
I don't fly spektrum, so whats a good cheapish gyro and what gyros should I avoid
Cheers

The FMS Reflex gyro is pretty good, but the ones most people go for are usually the HobbyEagle gyros.

what happened to the j-11 ☠
One of the motors failed which seemed to have made it uncontrollable. Not sure otherwise.
Wtf happened to the J-11 💀
Pretty sure one of the motors failed.
fixable?@@TwoBrosRC

Almost first! :p
Thanks again for that Su-35 footage in the beginning!
