My fiancé and I got to see Glen on his farewell tour. It was right before he went to specialized care. During Rhinestone Cowboy, Glen got confused and forgot some of the words. His daughter and the band kept playing and the crowd picked up the verse and sang the last two verses. Glen couldn’t remember the words to that song but his playing was flawless. A very special moment. You could see that both Glen and the family appreciated the love.
When Glen Campbell toured Australia in 1975 an 8 year old boy approached him after one of the shows and said, "Hi Mr. Campbell, I love your music, I have all your albums and I'm gonna be a singer and guitar player just like you when I grow up," and Glen said "Thank you Son, practice hard, keep at it and you'll do it." The little boy was Keith Urban, who become one of Glen Campbell's closest, life-long friends.

It makes me feel so good when they show Glen and he will try to sing along, or at least mouth the words. It's easy to see that he hadn't lost the memory of all of his songs. What a hell of a career he had. I'm so lucky to have been alive to hear his music.

Listened to Glen Campbell all my life and so happy to have followed his music and life story as i learned a lot more about him and his family so happy for this tribute well done may he rest in peace before he plays in the heavens above
Glenn was my first celebrity crush at four years old in 1968. My Mom would put his album on and I would calm right down and get all peaceful. He was an incredibly talented guitarist and vocalist from harmonizing with all his siblings growing up. Too bad about the alcohol, cocaine and Alzheimer's. Glenn deserved a better life, which he had once he accepted Jesus and gone too soon but now he's in heaven singing with the angels. I hope to hear him again.
Not many kmow that Joe Porcaro was one of the music directors for zGlen's TV show. His son, Jeff, and Marty Paich's son, David, met at rehearsals for Glen's weekly broadcasts. Toto was born from that. Paich and Porcaro went on to be two of the players I n cou tless albums....'Thriller' among them. Thankful Glen hired Jeff's Dad as percussionist and Co-Music Director with Marty for the Good Time Hour. How many of us used to watch that show and not miss an episode?!
That was beautiful to watch. He, his show and his voice has helped me threw life and childhood. His life through this video is helping me now, with my depression. ✌🏼🦁
I love the performer's voices of these hits. Vince, Keith and Brad were excellent. But what got to me was when the cameras were on Glen and Kim...Glen really must have felt very sad in a way, seeing his whole past life and youth and successes flashing before him. He got really antsy and looked very much in some nostalgic pain and in a mood seeing Keith sing Wichita Lineman, rubbing his face uncomfortably while Kim glanced at him seeming to sense his mood and trying to soften it by swaying to the music. She was reading his face knowing what he was feeling. And for her too, both knowing what was ahead of them. Very poignant. I felt relieved he perked up to Galveston and then when he saw Jimmy Webb, he looked so happy and said " oh my God!". God bless Glen Campbell and his entire family and thanks to all his friends who were so compassionate. I wish this horrible disease could be obliterated.
As a young army private returning to my post from leave, I boarded a small plane from LA to Monterey to find out that coach had been oversold and I thought I would not make it back to sign in in time without being AWOL. But the flight attendant told me there was a vacant seat in first class and they would put me there. I had my bluegrass acoustic guitar in its cardboard case in my hand as she let me back up to first class. The stewardess took my guitar to store in the back of the plane because there was not room upfront. I sat down and buckled in without looking around. As I settled myself a voice said, “So you’re a picker, too?” I turned my head and looked into face of Glenn Campbell about inches away. I simply froze. I had all his albums and played and and sang many of his hits. I watched his TV show. I had watched him in “true Grit” alongside my favorite actor, John Wayne. He stuck out his hand and said, “I’m Glenn.” I couldn’t even talk. He was heading up to play in the pro-am part of a major golf tournament in Carmel. The fellow in the seat in front of me was Oscar-winning actor Jack Lemmon and Mr. Lemmon half-turned around and conversed with Glenn for a while. I was just stone quiet listening. But then they started asking me all about my Army experience. Later (it wasn’t a long flight), Glenn asked me about my guitar-playing. He said he loved bluegrass and we discussed country guitarists. He was genuinely kind to and interested in a teenaged soldier. He never discussed himself. He wanted to discuss my family, my interest in music, and how I was doing in my year-long course learning Vietnamese at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey. As we waited for our luggage at the carousel at the small Monterey airport, he came over to me to talk again. He said for to come watch him make play golf in a few days if I could. I told him that I would, if I could. And I said that none of my army buddies would believe I had flown up and talked with him. So he said, “how about an autograph for proof.” All I had was a language school grade report pulled it up in my pocket that I had taken home to show my folks how well I was doing. So he signed the back side of that. The next morning I showed all my army and marine classmates the autograph and told him the story. A classmate and I were able to get free military tickets from the USO to go watch the tournament in person. We stood in the gallery around several greens and watched many of the worlds greatest golfers (Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino, etc.) play through and put out. I got to see a lot of celebrities including Clint Eastwood. Eventually Glenn Campbell’s foursome played up the fairway on one of the holes we were near. When they were all on the green he was standing at the edge bantering with the gallery and I pushed my way near to him. I waved and he recognized me and called me by name. He said he was glad to see me and we’re sure that my presence will give him good luck during the rest of the round. All the other spectators look at me like I was somebody important. I never saw him in person again, but of course I remained a huge fan with a personal interest in his life and career. He was a kind gentleman. I remember when he went through some rough phases in his life with drug addiction and volatile personal relationships. I feel so sad for him, but then he turned everything back around.
