I had looked into stripping the blower but from what I found you still need to trim the Teflon after installing for clearance so I thought I would try without it to see how well it works. So far seems to be working good with just the .005 air gap.
Does it have to idle that high? I know if it is running off of a nitro mix it makes the idle high kind of like how the nitro top fuel hemis idle so high. Just curious if you can make it idle around 1000rpm like a full scale big block
This engine runs on regular gasoline, not nitro mix. The limiting factor for idle RPM is the rotating mass of the crankshaft and flywheel. In a full scale engine the crank, balancer, and flywheel/torque converter have a large rotating mass that help carry the engine through the stroke. In 1/4 scale the rotating mass is relatively small so getting a consistent idle much below 2500rpm would be difficult unless you had a large out of scale flywheel to help. With that said, if I took the tach off and slowed the idle to 2500 you would think it was running much slower by the way it sounds.
@@KPLPerformanceare you using a steel flywheel for added weight ? Just kind of thinking how some of the stinger 609 the earlier ones had the aluminum flywheels and RPM idle had to be up higher for the stroke. I know two of my stinger 609 have a steel crank and the lower idle a little bit better

The flywheel is aluminum because I have the magnets for the ignition pick up in it.
