    You know what I wanna really see Richard? A roots blower shootout!
    Make every one of these companies put their money where their mouth is…
    Make the blower work for it too. Not a small block, not a small big block. I’m talking 540, or 565 bbc! Make them work even harder! Only test 8-71 blowers. Show where their limit is. Not super crazy trick blowers either…
    TBS 8-71 is automatically going to be 6 point Teflon and high helix… base model… So a BDS will have to be the same… Or not, if you wanna show what a say Stage 2 BDS has to offer. Then test a Littlefield 8-71. Since thats basically all Monster Jam uses…
    I wanna know who makes the most efficient roots blower without going super trick. Also what their limitation is on an engine which the job is slightly more than they can or should handle… thanks! 👍🤘👏

    Is this a standard 60 degree helix blower or 120 degree hi helix? Also what stage blower? Teflon stripped or not. Nice article but I wish they gave a bit more info. For a 500 inch motor I would think a 871 would do slightly better.

    How much power do you lose running a supercharger? If you were to run a turbo on the same setup and same boost, will you make more power?

    • @richardholdener1727
      @richardholdener1727  Рік тому +1

      yes-see the mod ford video where I ran 4 different forms of boost

    • @AK06WRX
      @AK06WRX 8 місяців тому

      It’s not that you lose power, per se. It’s more of a parasitic loss, meaning the blower takes HP that would otherwise be used to drive the vehicle forward. The thing is, ANY blower is going to have that same parasitic loss, although roots-type are probably the least efficient. However, the gains WAY offset whatever that loss is, and (all things equal) you’ll usually see a ~50% gain in power at ~8lbs of boost.
      Turbos are way more efficient because they use exhaust gases, so it’s ‘free’ power in a way. Or it’s using energy that would otherwise go to waste. Turbos don’t necessarily make more power inherently, but they can be sized way bigger if you want to tolerate lag. A turbo can spool WAY more than a blower though, and so provide more boost. There are street turbos that can push 20-40lbs, where most street superchargers aren’t going above 16-20lbs.

    • @user-zv8pd5ov2l
      @user-zv8pd5ov2l 7 місяців тому

      A roots is more for a pro street show car and adds some descent hp over NA and looks cool. A turbo set up will gain alot more but also more work to install.

    Hey Richard, I’m new here but I’m looking at AFR enforcer 210 heads for a boosted 5.3 ls that will be built internally. I’m shooting for 1000hp and wondering if these have ANY benefit over the 799 heads on my current motor.

    • @Matthewzilla
      @Matthewzilla Рік тому +4

      AFR Enforcer 210’s will have a little more flow than the 799’s. Combustion chamber is the same on both at 64cc’s.
      Flow at .600 lift is 268/207 for 210’s and 248/186 for the 799’s. More flow equals more power.

    • @richardholdener1727
      @richardholdener1727  Рік тому +3

      the turbo will dictate the power-you can make that with either heads

    • @hondatech5000
      @hondatech5000 Рік тому +2

      Like RH said here it’s not necessary to upgrade the Heads. As Mathew says they will make more power (na) mostly at the top the more cam you have the more it would (assuming)you have induction and supporting mods. 1000hp can be had fairly easily with cam/springs turbo on any ls. The smaller the engine the more boost they need. If 1000 is your goal then make sure your turbo can do 1200. A sure fire way to fall short of your goal is picking a 800hp turbo 😂ebay(gt45) I’m looking at you.

    • @RP_Loke
      @RP_Loke Рік тому

      Thanks guys! So I don’t NEED to upgrade the heads, but I’m building the motor from a bare lc9 aluminum block so I need to buy heads anyway as I’d like to keep current motor together for something else. I have a VS gen 3 78/75 and all the fuel I need which should get me around 1k. I’m just going to spend the extra couple hundred on the enforcer heads in hopes It’ll save me a few psi of boost to get to my goals. Thanks again!

    mal blower big blower what is more efficient
    When you are make some decent boost in the 15 - 20 psi range
    I look at the blower rotor length below,
    Lets look at a 6 and a 12
    That is a 3 inch rotor lenght difference
    So 20% more for a 12 than a 6.
    I would think that it takes 20% more HP to turn the 12 than the 6 at the same blower speed Yes or No
    But the 6 will need to spin a lot faster than the 12 to make the same amount of boost. spinning is faster wil take more HP How mutch more ??
    And it will generate al lot more heat, heat is less power.
    Q what is the optimal blower speed?
    To slow is also a lot of loss.
