Hi all, my name is Nick Surty and I am 26 years old from South London. I have been driving HGVs for 4 years and also have my class 1 (Article lorry) licence. Here is some footage I used using my new GoPro Hero3+ Silver with a head mount. I am driving a 32 ton quad axel grab lorry around Kensington and just thought it would give insight to people who are interested in trucks and driving and also how they are driven "in the real world". Hope you enjoy!
I remember when I first watched this and thought that is impossible when I just had my car license, now I have my full class 1 and drive log lorries in Scotland. Can totally appreciate what you are doing now
Driving on the wrong side of the road the entire time and he didn't get caught once!!
Just kidding man, mad respect for those driving skills. I think truck drivers all around the world are underappreciated for their jobs.
Keep up the good work!!
Lol cheers mate! Yeah the job is still enjoyable for me most of the time. Never know what you are going up against next or what you are going to see
Enjoyed the vlog.Think most car drivers don't appreciate who big, long, and how much room you need to drive an artic, respect,to you all.I was brought up with artics, and used to go with my dad in the 60,s,remember him pulling a brand new tri axel trailer then.Used to take lime stone from Buxton to Newport south Wales regularly.
To the fellow trucker who recognised me and stopped me in Mitcham yard today just to say how much him and his kids love the video and that they want me to make more... I solute you! Made my day! :D
+Nick Surty salute
My god.. That was intense.
Huge respect for you guys. I couldn't do it.
I'd hate driving a Range Rover through those streets, let alone a truck..
Thanks mate! Yeah it can be pretty demanding in some scenarios, none were out of the ordinary in this vid however. But its all good fun and makes the job more exciting
Also it would be interesting to know why and how all of a sudden i have had 15k views in under 24hrs when it took 4 months to get the first 12k views??! Has it been posted elsewhere or have people been sharing it on facebook or what? Im amazed! :D
It was posted on Reddit
Nick Surty Someones posted your video on reddit
Thanks Cakulha but what reddit? Do you have link so i can see it please? :D

In half of the situations in London HGV drivers are indifferent to motorcyclists, but in the other half.... you're awesome, guys. So highly skilled, far-seeing, considerate, polite and respectful. All the best!
I can`t believe you drove for 8:56 in that environment and did not say a single word! You are very well adjusted mentally for that job. I would be " Come on ya *&^% wit ! " every 5 seconds. I drive a double here in OZ and the moment i get off the dirt i`m stressin` out! Well done bud! Your a better man than me Gungadin! Pete.
If I had 9 lives, one of them would be spent as a truck driver. My god, what excellent skill!
Euro/American Truck Simulator for me right now. :D
Real life driving in London, great job getting around safely and with some challenging tight spots. Drivers will keep coming at you if you sit there and wait for someone else to play the game correctly, you'd get nowhere if you didn't sometimes edge yourself forward in some roads...not many car drivers read the road ahead like they should, then they wonder what to do when 32 tons of metal is suddenly in their way. Good job, clean drive!
It's funny, I've just watched some trucking videos in New York and Chicago and people are commenting how tight the streets are. If they think they're tight they should try London. It's like trying to thread a sausage through the eye of a needle. Plus the roads aren't on a grid system, they're designed like a plate of spaghetti.
False Teeth yes true but have you ever been to san francisco now thats tight, i do not know about england tight but its tight, plus are trucks are a little bit bigger and trailers are 48 to 53 foot long, but i can not stand driving in the city i would rather be out on the interstates. but i loved the video so cool
BET:C With our doubles, we haul a bit less than twice of what you guys do.
FCFordLord and how much is that? :P with a standard swedish truck and trailer you have floorspace for 102 pallets (double deck or beams) and gross weight of 60-64 tons (120-128lbs) depending on axle spacing and a maximum of 24 meters (79 foot) by law including the cab and truck itself. and its possible to get to some really tight spots even tho the combination is long :D
+Erik Blixt Don't forget pallets in Europe are a different size to whats in the US.
Jamie Norman
ye the witdh is 1000mm instead of 800mm but without doing any math id say you can fit alteast 80ish pallets, but we are still able to do tight city distrubution to stores even with the full 24m combination, can't do that with a double im sure ;P
Had the "pleasure" of driving HGVs in central London and I can assure you this is as good as it gets. Good driver.
I'm a truck driver in the US and watching this gave me anxiety. I thought driving in Chicago was rough, the roads in this video make Chicago's look like a racetrack in comparison. Kudos to you fellow professional driver
I'm driving Scania 18t 10.65 m long. Once a week from Wolverhampton to LONDON with furnitures. So many narrow roads and turns. I know how is it. Respect for You Mate!!!!
I've been driving Class 2 now since July last year, I'm 21 at the moment and I'm never going to complain about having to do tight drops again! Some of the areas I go to are tight, but this.... this is something else! and you make it look like its a walk in the park.. Well done man!
You make it look so easy. Nah seriously excellent driving.
No words for that just WOW!
I just received my C+E and D driving license in Hungary. Our streets are like 3 time bigger and there also 10 times less cars but i still managed to panic so much because of the lack of space. What you did in the last corner was insane i wouldn't be able to copy that move.
Driving hgv in London is not the best experience in the world, I did it day in day out, and on many occasion had literally 10mm on either side, I'll never forget just fitting my finger between two gaps on either side of my lorry and there being two high end sports cars either side, talk about stress, needless to say I had a stiff cup if tea back at the depot after that day! Nice video nick, it's made me want to buy a cam and film me on my mixer and tipper trips, give my wife something to watch when she says I been doing nothing all day haha
ohh scania ,you blow my mind with that beautiful turn signal sound...
Your never late with a V8
Fascinating! A remarkably quiet cab and very skilfully driven through some very narrow streets too. 👌
Euro Truck Simulator 3
now with updated graphics and physics :D
How can i get my steering like this please in game?
Please give me the link of the game
@@Realisit.architect you have to buy a specific steering wheel like scs software has in there trucks when they go in tour.
@@techworld9323 i think it is a mod for ets2 but you need to build your own GPU to play it at high resolution
Did anyone else feel the breeze when he rolled down the window?
omygod no way I just got that
Christ almighty. Got my heart going just watching you drive, can't imagine doing that myself. Mad respect.
Thanks Nathan!
My father was a bus owner /driver. He used to make me sit by his side while he was driving. This was back in the 1960's. I learnt a lot from my father observing him. R.I.P.
Do you ever feel anxious throughout your day? Everything you did in the video seemed flawless, very well done.
Thankyou! I dont so much get anxious any more. I just take each job as it comes, whether it be a nice run out to the country or a run into the city! When i first started driving obviously it was nerve racking due to not knowing where all the height, weight and width restrictions were but over time you get your routes sorted. However in this game you are always learning...!
Am i the only one whos using this guys mirrors aswell as the skilled driver? Lol always wanted a go in one if these!! Good driving like most lorry drivers... Especially for London. Well done.
this guy got in his truck and entered beast mode. that there is some top driving mate.
I'm an American driver....... This looks so sophisticated.... The right hand driving operation.... Driving on the left side of the road....... Oh my man!!
The joys. Campden Hill Road, past the Town Hall, Horton Street and the like trying to feed down towards Notting Hill Gate......Kensington is lovely!
I like the cam on the head it gives a better view and shows how much you use your mirrors which is very important driving a wagon.good vid.
I was thinking about my time on tippers and that I fancy going back to it 4:37 thanks for reminding me of how tight some places are especially to get that type 1 tipped in the smallest space
I think its the camera angle. Not once did i break any speed limits. And i know the trucks stopping capability after many years of driving her all day every day lol
It's the wide angle on the camera, things at the side appear to be passing faster than people are used to watching.
Hey man, could you please teach me how to drive? :)
***** Not wrong there mate. Although other cities don't bother me,just London. Worked there as a courier no probs, but not keen on central in a heavy, even with 26 yrs behind me. I've battled for spaces at the Smithfield 'Rush Hour' Lol. Mostly with London,it's ignorant idiots driving like tvv@ts and coming at you from all angles.
***** Artic driving in London is a real days work for a trucker, bloody hard work.
TheMrKikiriki well said sir.
Great vid , great to see you manage to pass parked cars without taking their door mirrors with you in those narrow streets.
this gave me a horrible flashback of the first time i went in to New York/ New Jersey area with a 53ft box and road tractor, haha. Great driving. hope theres more to come.
Wow much respect. Even though we drive much bigger rigs here in the States what you do is much more difficult!
Nice bit of driving. Interesting to note how much your head is moving. Constantly on the the alert. Good observation
London driving is an eye opener in a hgv it takes serious driving respect to thos that have and are still doing it keep on trucking 👍👊
Its amazing how steering in Scania is so light,or you are just a real pro. Awesome driving mate, your vids are awesome, and steering with your wrists is just awesome. Keep filming and driving.
hats off to this guy what a class driver doing a nasty route .. I drove a large van not long ago and have to quite the job as I just could not do in these tight roads so fair play to him!
Just watchin you maneuvering is such tight spaces makes me sweat. Half hour would be more exhausting than a day in a gym . Awesome skill. Bravo sir !
The head mounted camera makes for dizzying viewing but shows the non-stop checking of mirrors windscreen etc ,; I'm not keen on a "third hand" but can see how useful it is in your tight , twisty environment .
Nick it's just a thought, but you should consider uploading a full video unedited of you driving around places like this.
There's a kind of relaxing feeling to it. I realise some of these situations are a bit more tense like fitting down a residential street, but in general the sound level of the video, the odd sound of the indicators, it's quite low and mellow to watch :D
Hi mate, i will get some more vids soon. I'll also get a different case for the gopro as the waterproof one blocked a lot of sound out! But yeah it can be relaxing to watch, and even drive sometimes :D
Can I also ask, what's the little button up to your top right that you switch on when reversing?
That switch i turned on was for my flashing beacons on top of the cab and also the flashing amber strobes at the rear of the lorry. I always use them especially when having to manouver without banksmen on the road. Its just an added bit of warning for drivers and pedestrians
Nick Surty Thanks for that. Subscribed, so I know when you put anything else up. Take care bud :)
Wicked mate! :D
I'd go nuts if I had to do this!
You do that every day, hats off!
he definately got some serious driving skills!
Nice video and great driving. One thing i could never get used to is the knob on the steering wheel always got in my way.
4,52 well done, no sat nav on the windscreen so for sure driver knows where to go ;) much more fun for someone who use a sat nav in there lol
Top Man you made it look easy, I bet it would be alot harder if you we were driving a class 1 through those tight streets. Great video 👍
Best point of view compared to other truck driving videos
Brilliant video mate. I found it fascinating! I used to drive a long wheel base sprinter and found it difficult in some residential areas but that's nothing compared to this! Love a bit of technical driving!!! Great vid mate, you make it look easy...I know its not!
Was Good how you Menage to Pass the Parked Cars and made me to Comment after i Noticed and Knew you won`t Pass at 8:10 after Sort Maneuver on first Attempt xD
Good Video BTW, Cheers
Holy cow. That last bit was amazing
No complaints about your driving one bit. Lived around there for 20 years and drove trucks to M & S, Barkers , Harrods , Sainsburys. Got the impression you were going round in circles just to show how bad the streets in that area are. lol.
This seems like the most fun job in the world! I want to be a trucker when I grow up!
Just amazing.. what a pleasure driving without traffic.. nice skills!
I give you thumbs up and hats down, you are a good driver and your timing is good. I'm not sure though if the truck is Manual or Automatic transmission. But good driving skill in those tight roads. You should join truck racing 🏁
I could barely drive a small car in England while visiting. Very impressive sir!
This is mental watching it, my hat goes off to you, those streets seem like a nightmare to drive in. Good job :)
Awesome view! I bet your glad you dont have to take an arctic around streets that narrow! More people should record in this view!
Thanks Jordan. I do have my artic licence too and would love to give it a go.... I do love a challenge!
As Clarkson would say, on the correct side of the road. Awesome vid bro!
i like hearing the sounds of the truck and the city through the open window
Gives me a headache after a while lol. Like the turbo whistle though... But much prefer my Jags supercharger whine ;D
Nice! love the first person view. Although you´re sitting on the wrong side of the truck ;)
Right side ;D lol
at my very first job as HGV driver I had to deliver building material to Hammersmith and Kensington on 12m 18t truck. No training no assessment. Just paperwork keys and the truck. Was scared af but did not hit anything and completed all deliveries. Sometimes tha'ts the best way to learn
good video reminds of driving round small streets of Edinburgh in a 32 tonner mixer onto building sites etc , i gave it all up to drive artics i miss the job big time as i loved the challanges and all the guys my only challenge now is beating the boredom of the motorway lol.
Great work Nick, top driving - from a fellow tipper driver
This looks really fun.
Hey mate, thanks for the inspiration, I started filming my Transporter rides ;)
Love the Drive from Interior
wow, super driver. I cannot driving a truck into a city like this
You must have came within a baw hair of that 1st motor. A good confident drive there.
As a professional driver I must admire this driver's skills.
Thankyou!
Without hitting a side mirror. Respect bro
Hats of to Artic drivers, i couldn't drive one of these on a motorway let alone through London!!
They don't go through central London bro
Theu would go to a depo outside of these areas and then smaller cat c lorries would disrupted the shit ya fig
Very good to watch soemone who can drive so confidently in soething so big and somewhere so small...!!!
Lol just been reading through the comments on reddit. One comment said about jags being the nicest driving cars on the road... I have a tuned Jaguar S type R blacked out pushing 450hp 😂😂 they certainly are the nicest cars... Especially the V8 and supercharger whine!
Hi mate I've been looking into becoming a hgv driver but I don't want to be too far from my family can you answer please.
Luke Smith Drive dustcarts for the local council.
Luke Smith I'm a truck driver and there are jobs with no nights out. Look for shop delivery jobs in your area. Tesco at Lichfield and Hinckley. Gist at Crewe nr J16 M6, Gist again in Bristol. N R Evans do milk and stuff for Dairy Crest, but also do Home Bargains up in Liverpool. This is only Artic work. Again in Liverpool you've got Brakes and Hermes (visible from the M62). Others? I can't think. But look for an RDC.
But beware the (sometimes very) long days. 13-14 hours is pushing it but still doable. I do 10-12 hours regularly. Rarely do 6-8.
I could have watched this for hours. Superb video. I want to have a go!
You had some tight places there! What I am always amazed at, and I really shouldn't be, are the amount of idiotic comments from those who don't have a clue about driving, those who think they know far more than you, and yet don't have a clue, and then those who just don't have a clue and probably do not even know they don't have a clue!! As for the guy who says :now try it in a Peterbilt - I guess he was trying to show off that he had just learned how to spell Peterbilt!!
You are wonderful - VERY well done!
Thankyou
tauwilltriumph I
That left turn to immediate right turn with the post box.... 1, how's that tail swing as you were turning right?
2, did ya rub the curb?
Solid driving. Confidence to do what needed to be done is perfect
Hi all. Cannot believe how many views and likes this vid has! Was not expecting it to kick off as it has done! Heres a little thankyou video. P.s i have not posted a vid of myself like this before so bit nervous 😝
ua-cam.com/video/jKqSQqPNKjQ/v-deo.html
Ohhh boy thats are some serious skills ...well done man amazing driving ..
Just started learning to drive a Cat C and London looks like hell to take your test at. Driving a Lorry is Completely different from driving a car!
That's some fantastic driving mate. Loved the video.
I'm a truck driver in the states and I thought we had narrow roads, geez. Good job
This is awsome ! The driving skill is incredible love the video man keep them up!
I do not miss this one little bit, but used to do this on a weekly
Awesome bit of driving! Those streets are tight!
The steering is very satisfying to watch for some reason lol
Mate ive continued to watch your video after my last comment and i was like wtf... How tight are some of them street turns... U obviously been doing this a long time. Nice maneuverers.
I just recently passed my class C and my instructor said you need 'eyes like ping pong balls' between the mirrors. Never a truer word said about London driving!
this guy is good. I made it from north Africa to London.
That's a pretty professional driving. I'm really impressed, good job man :)
Good job mate. Love the sound of the engine
Nice and smooth driving mate!
nice video dude :) im currently training as a lorry driver so this is actually quiet interesting for me to watch :D, really good driver hope i can be as good as you one day
You showed some good skill there! congrats mate
Bloody good driver you are Nicholas mate
God.. just watching this makes me flinch. Great work, man! I hope you get loads of views to earn yourself some pocket money!
Cheers Luke! To be honest i thought id be lucky to get 30 views...! Just took the vid and uploaded it for something to do to be honest lol
Greetings from the USA, I’m a retired truck driver and enjoyed watching your videos. If your out there everyday why not post a video of your driving experiences more often. Also some video about your truck showing what type. Thanks
Christ that's some tight spaces. I bet you have to basically pray every time you turn a corner that you're not going to be blocked in
Good driving Nick keep up the good work bud
Holy crap dude, you're really good. I'd hate driving around all these narrow roads!
