The director told Ellen to make up an amount to ask Jimmy Stewart for, rather than the usual $10 or $20 that most of them were asking for, so when she said, "Can I have $17.50?," It was perfection!
I could not agree more, that Ellen after her stroke was so brilliant that she should have won more Emmy Awards after that. So much emotion with so few words. Also, your mother was a beautiful woman.
I agree. In Grandma Comes Home, I love that Jim Bob is the only one treating her normally by asking her to go for a ride in the car and she's just grinning.
@@judynorton2598 You came up on an episode of Barry Williams and Chris Knight's Real Brady Bros Podcast. Their episode was about Marsha and Gregg wanting to move into the attic. A fan wondered if it was borrowed from The Waltons episode, The Awakening. Did your writers ever get ideas from other shows or do you know of other shows borrowing ideas from Waltons episodes.
Thanks for this Judy...Ellen was this tiny miracle by which we all were blessed...and although speech was difficult, she could sit at the piano and sing every word perfectly. Ellen, you played that melody in my heart to this day...we all miss and love you.
Ellen and Geer served all aces for decades then gigantic break came in the Waltons . kids today now know them well , I hope they see his western movies he played like a master as in Gunsmoke Slocum
What a great story. Thank you Judy and hope you had a wonderful mother's day as well. Being a single dad, my daughter thinks I should celebrate both Mother's and Father's Day! 💐
Three wonderful women that were so much more than great Mothers. They all had very interesting lives. Thanks for sharing this and about your Mother. I lost my Mama fifty years ago much too soon. I do have good memories and I can smile at the remembrance of little things.😊
Ellen truly made a monumental impact as she returned after her stroke. She left a beautiful mark on her career. Wow what a great mom you had! My mom passed about 3 years ago and was 96. She was the youngest of 11 kids. She had a baby brother who died when she was 4. She recalls rocking him. He was sickly and blind. Hope you had a blessed Mother’s Day. I never was a mom but honor the day.😊
I’m so very sorry for the loss of your mom 😢 My own mom passed 12 years ago and I miss her, as you do yours. Thank you for this lovely, heartwarming remembrance of the moms in your life ❤
I seen her in a movie on TCM once and was shocked because she was in prison! I think the name of the movie was Caged.I was shocked simply because she was Grandma Walton! You all were like family visiting us in our living rooms every week. Lovely tribute to both women.

Good Morning Judy, hope you enjoyed a wonderful Mothers Day! Thank you for this up close and personal look at Michael Learned. She truly captured the essence of the character of Olivia Walton. I can't imagine anyone else playing that role! What a rich life Michael enjoys!
Beautiful tribute, Judy. I lost my mom in 1977. She loved Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton and The Waltons. I wished she could had lived to see the movie Coal Miner's Daughter. At the time of her death it wasn't known who would play Loretta. I know she would had loved Sissy Spacek.

Wow, three of the most amazing moms! Sometimes you don't really realize how amazing and what they did until you actually hear someone say what they did. Michael had the experience of a lifetime with all the traveling she did growing up gaining that talented experience. Did the show ever tap into Michael's farm experience or did she try and offer her opinion on it? Ellen just an incredible woman who knew the show must go on even after her stroke. She did a great job with a lot of courage and strength. Judy your mom must have been so proud of you in the episode where you were balancing at the top of the roof. Great to have a real mom on set looking over you and others.
Happy mother's day to everyone and anyone who mothers children in any capacity! It is a tough day for many of us for various reasons! Thanks Judy for this very interesting segment!
Amazing women! I love reading/ watching biographies of people,it really gives you an appreciation of others,of their struggles as well as successes.Your mom was amazing,I am sorry for your loss.
What a wonderful tribute to three special ladies. Judy, your mother was a lovely person. I lost my own mother in 2006. You never get over their loss, you just learn to live with it.
You come from talented, beautiful, athletic people. These attributes are obviously present in you as well. This segment was wonderful. The manner in which you present content on your channel evokes a feeling of comfort and anticipation in your viewers, well it does in me. It's as though we are visiting with you in your living room, sipping hot tea, and enjoying brilliant conversation. Thank you for selflessly taking your own time to do this for us. I hope The Waltons continue to entertain and hopefully influence future generations.
Such a lovely Mothers Day tribute Judy! I really enjoyed it! May your sweet Mom rest in peace with " Grandma Walton! And it is so true Ellen Corby WAS GRANDMA WALTON ALONG WITH "MAMA" MICHAEL LEARNED! THANK YOU AGAIN SO MUCH!
As a child I dreamed of being a mother like Olivia! I had 6 sons and 2 daughters! Eventually God gave us grandchildren that were 6 girls and 2 boys. Tho’ our income was the same as hers in 30s We had no script or rewrites and here we are 36 years later! Our 14th grandchild is due next week! I spent Mothers Day with my Mom alone in her home and only saw my kids on FaceTime! Having a family like the Waltons was just a dream but I’m still not sorry I tried! Thanking the Lord for Earl Hamner telling us of his life and family and for the way you all made it feel so real! Truly to this day I appreciate all you do! All that to say: Your Tribute was a wonderful reflection of these Wonderful Women who made it seem so easy! :-)
Great video. The whole cast of The Waltons separately couldn't have been more perfect but the interaction among you all was impeccable. You came across as real family.
Lovely. What a treat to know more about your mom, Michael, and Ellen. Cool that you did Circus of the Stars given your family history. Love Ellen as Aunt Trina. Always great to see her pop up on a show. I need to find a way to see Nurse. Worked evenings a lot in those days and never managed to catch it. Thanks for all the great details, Judy. Oh Judy, this segment meant so much to me. Ellen Corby and Michael Learned are two iconic actresses, that I watched closely while growing up. I only do community theatre, but have learned so much, by watching all of you, over the years, I can't thank you enough. I was so pleased to see that Michael worked in Steel Magnolias, and On Golden Pond. I was fortunate to land the leading roles in both, once upon a time. And Ellen......WOW!! I've seen her in so many roles, since I was I kid. One of my favorites was as Lucy's theatre teacher, in "I Love Lucy"!
Two strong women in real life and in their characters. You “kids” were fortunate to be surrounded by them as well as Ralph & Will. By the way, your mother was stunning. Wonderful tribute to all three women.
I love all the varied expressions your mama made. And as far as that goes, your papa was very good at expressions too. Both were a great blessing to watch. I love you all.
🌼Belated Happy Mother's Day🌼wishes to you Judy, and to all of the mothers and grandmothers who may read this. Thank you for summarizing highlights of Michael and Ellen's careers and your reflections on their impact on you over your life. And ty SO MUCH for your eloquent tribute to your own mother!! I already knew many of the bullet points about your co-stars, as a four decades + fan (when I was about 8, I decided that I wanted to be John Boy/ Earl Hamner, and derive part of my earnings today from writing & editing). But I knew nothing about your Mom aside from bits you've volunteered over the years... She sounds like a fascinating lady!!
That was you in Hotel!? Wow! Great movie. Rod Taylor, Melvyn Douglas, Merle Oberon, etc.. What a great cast and movie. I'll keep an eye out for you when I see it again.
Wonderful Mother's Day Tribute! Question, do you remember if Ellen Corby and Will Geer ever giving advice on the 1930's because they actually lived during that time period? Thank You!
What a great tribute to three awesome women. I much would have preferred Ellen as one of my Grandma’s rather than one of the two I had and I would have preferred Will Geer as one of the two Grandpa’s I had. One of them I only saw once or twice when she was an invalid. My dad was in his thirties when he married. My mom was ten years younger. My mom was a true support to me. Sounds like yours was for you as well. Thanks, Judy.
Hey Judy, Hello how are you I hope that you had a beautiful Mother's Day yesterday and i try not to miss any of your videos because you were someone that I grew up with in the seventies and the eighties when the Walton's were on and glad to see this episode and until your next video Thank You and God Bless You, Judy.📺📻
A wonderful, wonderful share today, Judy. Appreciated so much hearing your mother's early training, her agility and discipline as a gymnast, an acrobat. What a treasured beautiful role model for you. It occurred to me that young people today and next generation may be missing out with so much attention paid to an individual, sedentary lifestyle, more solitary, less collaboration, with attention paid to computers, computer gaming. I recall so vividly Ellen Corby's contribution to Glenn Ford/Hope Lange's delightful comedy "A Pocketful of Miracles" wherein as I recall her supporting character was mute, but so well played and memorable. I knew early on she was a script supervisor but did not have a clue she worked pro bono for Poverty Row productions. Robert Word ("A Word on Westerns" - AWOW) has made mention of the contribution of the production company (ala Republic Pictures) to early B Westerns. Thank you very much for this segment today!
The whole family is the embodiment of Americana. Olivia was so selfless, but taking up painting was a different twist, and Dr. Mary Ellen Walton M.D. ❤
@@judynorton2598 the only thing I didn’t like about Olivia was often times when punishing the kids she made them memorize Bible verses Bible verses should NOT be used as punishment it’s a joy to learn Bible verses
Two remarkable women in both Michael and Ellen, who no doubt had a MAJOR influence on your personal and professional life. Your mother was beautiful, and you look just like her, especially the smile and eyes ❤️ 😍 💖
What a great tribute. Thank you, Judy. Love Mama and grandma. Your love for these ladies shines through. Thank you for sharing your heart about your mama.
Both amazing women in amazing roles. I remember Ellen also appearing on "I Love Lucy" as Lucy's high school drama teacher Miss Hannah. Let's not forget Mary Ellen as mother to John Curtis. Your mother was very pretty. You do resemble her very much. I hope you had a lovely Mother's Day Judy.
I hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day Judy. Thank you for sharing memories of your mom with us 💗. It made me smile to learn that her name was Connie too!
That was a lovely tribute to all these talented people! I especially enjoyed hearing about your mom.😊 I agree, Ellen did an outstanding job in everything she did but I ditto with you that what really stands out is how phenomenal her part was after she had her stroke. I am guessing very few,if any,had ever played a role like it! A close second to Ellen was Patty Duke in the “Miracle Worker”. But Patty’s role was imitating Helen Keller not being disabled herself and then filling the role. Ellen’s acting was a genuine personal experience.
Judy - your mother was just beautiful - it is evident you get your love of movies and your athleticism (as Mary Ellen and in real life) AND your own beauty from her! And what a special tribute to the ultimate mom and grandma! I love my own mom and I loved my dad and my grandparents when they were alive, BUT I distinctly remember wanting deperately to be a part of a family like The Waltons when I watched it when it first aired. Who am I kidding? 😍When I am rewatching it even now, I STILL want to be a part of a family like that! Thank you for this, Judy and hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day yourself.
Last week I saw an episode of Beverly Hillbillies with Ellen as a "surfer chick" type character. She was so funny. She was not afraid to play against stereotype.
Ellen and Will were just beautiful together. They complimented each other. I love, in Grandma Comes Home, when she calls him "you old fool!" Ellen was in an episode of The Farmer's Daughter.
Michael Learned did steal our hearts!
🥰
Lovely tribute to 2 special ladies. x
@christopherhauser1 Yes, great point, I agree!

I don’t recall anything specific.
We often form our “families of the heart” 🥰
What a wonderful tribute, thank you for sharing! ❤
My pleasure.
No better portrayal of a grandmother than Ellen Corby's... etched in all our minds... greatness
Absolutely!
Your mother was a very beautiful woman just like you Happy Mother s Day

Happy Mother's Day Judy ! 💝

Hey Judy,
Hello how are you I hope that you had a beautiful
Mother's Day yesterday and i try not to miss any
of your videos because you were someone that
I grew up with in the seventies and the eighties
when the Walton's were on and glad to see this
episode and until your next video Thank You and
God Bless You, Judy.📺📻
Truly beakutifiul Judy. Both SCRIPT and PERFORMANCE!
Thank you.
Hope you had a Happy Mother's Day Judy! ❤️🙂
Thank you.
Thanks for watching. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Happy blessed Mother's Day
Thank you.
The whole family is the embodiment of Americana. Olivia was so selfless, but taking up painting was a different twist, and Dr. Mary Ellen Walton M.D. ❤
Nice to see them branch out a bit :)
Happy Mother's Day! ❤
Thank you.
Love Olivia ❤️ She was gorgeous! Hope you had a Blessed Mother's day 💗
Love Grandma too. ❤
Thanks for watching.
Your mother was beautiful, and you look
just like her, especially the smile and eyes ❤️ 😍 💖
I’ve had wonderful women in my life :-)
Ellen was a funny lady she loved you all very much.

What a great tribute. Thank you, Judy. Love Mama and grandma. Your love for these ladies shines through. Thank you for sharing your heart about your mama.
My pleasure. Thanks for joining me.
Wow. Didn't know what a wonderful background your mother had. ❤
She was very talented.
Well done! Judy. In the Mother's Day Special Episode, Elizabeth reads a poem at church. Yesterday, at my church a little girl reads a poem.
How sweet.

Happy Mother's day thanks Judy 😊
My pleasure.
Thank you. I’m glad you enjoyed this tribute.
I hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day Judy. Thank you for sharing memories of your mom with us 💗. It made me smile to learn that her name was Connie too!
🥰
That was a lovely tribute to all these talented people! I especially enjoyed hearing about your mom.😊
I agree, Ellen did an outstanding job in everything she did but I ditto with you that what really stands out is how phenomenal her part was after she had her stroke. I am guessing very few,if any,had ever played a role like it!
A close second to Ellen was Patty Duke in the “Miracle Worker”. But Patty’s role was imitating Helen Keller not being disabled herself and then filling the role. Ellen’s acting was a genuine personal experience.
Well stated.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed this. Yes, my mom was a definite role model for my being a tomboy :)

Last week I saw an episode of Beverly Hillbillies with Ellen as a "surfer chick" type character. She was so funny. She was not afraid to play against stereotype.
She had such great comic sense.
Ellen and Will were just beautiful together. They complimented each other. I love, in Grandma Comes Home, when she calls him "you old fool!" Ellen was in an episode of The Farmer's Daughter.
They were perfect together.
Happy belated Mother’s Day.
Thank you.

Thank you.
Happy Mother day 💓 Olivia and Judy, Elizabeth, Erin 🎉❤

Hi Judy! I loved the Grandma/Mary Ellen dynamic. It was very entertaining to me.
“OH GRANDMA!” Mary Ellen often would say. Ha ha
So true. A fun dynamic to play.
