Mrs, Cotler, thank you so much for allowing Kami to be part of "The Waltons". I did not get to see the show when it was initially on the air . The years 1972-81 were busy years for me going to law school and graduating, marrying my wife, entering the Air Force and starting a family. But in 2019 i retired from the practice of law and became extremely ill thereafter with a rare disease which led to me becoming homebound . Not only because of my illness but also the risk that I might catch COVID that would have certainly killed me. Even though we have cable TV, I consider it a waste of money, except for The Waltons which I have been watching religiously for the last four years. And the greatest charm of that show is a little moppet known as Kami Cotler who grew up to be a lovely young lady. I am in touch with Judy on her You Tube and also Debbie Gunn. I met Judy and Mary Beth McDonough at the "Breakkfast with the Waltons" at the Logan County Fairgrounds in Illinois last April but I was not able to see everyone there since I am in a wheelchair when I anywhere from home and could not enter the building where we could meet with each person. But I have always enjoyed Kami, most of all. Especially the Episode where she had Jimmy, her imaginary friend. I have three daughters and Marissa, my youngest, was so much like Elizabeth that I somehow wondered who in California knew my child. Marissa had "David" w hen she was six or so, and regaled my wife and I with stories of him and his 147 brothers and 148 sisters. Every time I see that episode with "Jimmy" it brings back a smile and a laugh, What really amazed me about Kami is the situations that the directors put her in --locked in a trunk, on the edge of the treehouse and on a Feris Wheel in the middle of the night, two broken legs, falling in an abandoned mine shaft, lost in the woods. I wrote to Judy and said that the producers should have given Kami a free ride to UCLA's medical school . I thought for a moment that I was watching "The Perils of Pauline". But the most beautiful part of the show is watching Kami, Mary Beth, Eric, and David grow from children to handsome and beautiful young adults. I binge watch the show 4 episodes at a time on the Hallmark Channel each night and seeing so many episodes in a short time reminds me of stop action photography, watching a flower go from seed to bloom when I watch the younger ones grow before my eyes--especially Mary Beth and Kaml. Kami, thank you so much for joining us on You Tube. I have always loved your work and am amazed that someone so young did such a believable job at "Make Believe".
Kami, my Mom, has severe Dementia, i can no longer have these conversations. I wish I could have had more time to have these conversations. I'm 67 going on 68 so cherish these chats, they will end one day
Everyone should record their older relatives while they can. I recorded my relatives on audio cassette tapes back in the 1970s. My mother's aunt told about how the family moved from the midwest to California in the 1930s Depression. They had rich relatives in Los Angeles who helped them financially, which I never knew before. Their name was Aunt Kate and Uncle Martin Bekins. They owned a moving and storage business.
This is a very special and authentic interview. Can't explain why it's so endearing when your Mom is interviewed, it just is. And the audience gets the privilege of seeing an up and close exchange about the beloved Kami Cotler. Thank you to your Mom for supporting you and sharing so much about those younger years. Thank you for the precious home footage. And Thank you for the questions by your fans. Your talent and fearlessness at such a young age were remarkable. And Your Mom knew you had the gift!
Enjoyed, your interviewing your Mom! What a Delight! Kami, that memory of yours, comes from your Mother! She depicts you perfectly. The same Kami that jumps off of the Walton's pages. Loved hearing of your "Road Runner " antics! Will be looking forward to Part 2! 💖💛💖
This was fantastic. Please thank your Mum for doing this. You were my favourite in The Waltons, especially when you were a child & so cute. I’m looking forward to part 2.
Hi, Kami from the UK. 🇬🇧 Your mother, Barbara, is so sweet and very relaxed in front of the camera. I loved seeing some of your home movies, where we got to see you being your natural self and not the very well behaved (and directed) Elizabeth. Thanks for sharing these private moments. I've been a fan of _The Waltons_ since it was first shown here in the UK on BBC 2 in 1974 when I was a 9 year old girl. My late mother, Marian, loved the show as she was born in the 1930s, when the show was set and was one of nine children. I remember her telling me stories of what life was like back then and about her mother. I never knew my maternal grandmother as she passed away in 1953 aged 47. When we later watched reruns together, my mother was surprised how much of the show that I could remember from my childhood, like the episode where Olivia lost a baby and Elizabeth got upset when she discovered her mother was expecting and worried that she wouldn't be the baby of the family anymore. Anyway, my mother's stories of our family history sparked an interest and I became a genealogist at the age of 19 and I think it probably all began when I was a 9 year old girl, watching _The Waltons._ She would be so thrilled that we've communicated via Facebook because she felt _The Waltons_ was so relatable to her own childhood. Kind regards. ❤️
A kindred spirit! I drove my parents crazy with questions. Finally, when I was 5, my dad bought a set of the Encyclopedia Britannica. From that point on, most of my questions were answered by pointing at the bookcase.
As of today my favorite show is the Waltons. I watch it daily on Prime video. The show provides so much comfort. All the an actors were amazing and Kami, to be so young playing the role as Elizabeth you were so talented and such a joy to watch. Everything was so believable until you forget you were watching actors playing their roles. Still love and watch the show!
Loved the interview. You remind me of myself. Always moving, on the hyper side, asking questions and having fun. I had the same color of auburn hair growing up. At one point I could put it next to an Irish Setter dogs coat and it blended. I hated my hair as a young teen and all the older woman always commented me on it. Once I hit my late teens early 20’s I then appreciated my hair. But it’s always but thick and course and frizzy and bushy. After menopause it became more curlier on its own and I didn’t need spiral perms to tame it down. Your moms a sweetheart I wish my parents were still living. But they’ve been gone a long time now. They had me when they were in their 40’s so they would be way over 100 now if living.
That was a great innerview Kammi with your sweet mom.Kammie, you did an excellent job portraying Elizabeth.Til this day, I still love watching the Waltons show.
So sweet for you to do this with your mom god bless love all u guys from the waltons I still watch the waltons on the Hallmark channel everynite ❤to bad I missed your live maybe il see part 2

I've never seen such great quality home videos from the 1960s/70s before! Perhaps the technology wasn't widespread here (UK) at that time. Must be lovely to have so much footage from your early childhood to look back on, thank you Kami (and the Cotler family) for sharing some of it with us.
Thank you Cami, I just find it hard to believe, that you actually grew up...as in my mind, I still think of you as the small young lady playing her scenes in the show! Yes, I know you have your own children, and the whole 'Walton's' vibe, captured my attention right from the start, finding the show exceptionally entertaining. One of your many Canadian fan's here Cami! Ok, I'm off to subscribe!

It's just super 8. But my Dad was really into making home movies, so maybe he was better than average
about composition, lighting, etc.
@@kami-cotler Home video camcorders didn't come until about 1985. Picture not as good as 8mm film, but at least it had sound.
