  • How many times have you melted fusible interlining or webbing onto the sole plate of your iron only to be left with a sticky brown mess. I've tried all the tricks in the book to clean it up but this one really works---------------------------------------------------------------------------

You just helped me save my grammys iron that she passed down to me. I was devastated. Thank you so much for this. I thought I was going to have to throw it away. I tried so many other ways to remove it but it didn't work. ❤️

OH! My gosh. a huge thank you for this tip. Just did the unthinkable & sat the hot iron on sticky side of fusible fleece. Raced to computer and found your video. Had dryer sheets in with my fabric & wool collections so grabbed out 2 and WALLA!!!!. My iron was looking brand new in a few seconds.

THANK YOU!!! This worked perfectly on my Rowenta DW-2070 with it's stainless steel plate that has about 300 tiny steam holes in it. I thought for sure it was ruined. I tried this tip and was thoroughly impressed how well the dryer sheets took off all the glue and left the plate smooth, clean and as shiny as when the iron was new!! I did have to use 3 sheets on mine, but who cares!! The Rowenta has a highly polished SS plate and it irons so well because of the smoothness of the finish, so that is why I was so worried it was ruined when I got the glue on it.
Truly, I am so glad I found your tip and again, thank you so much for sharing it with us!!

I just have to say THANK YOU for this video. For the first time ever, I did in deed iron a fusible interface on the wrong side. Unfortunately, I also got it on my ironing board cover. The iron came clean fairly easily. I did have to use 2 dryer sheets but it worked. Again, THANK YOU!

Wow and thank you so much .. I did just as you said somehow touched a scrap of fusible webbing with my iron, the good iron I had finally splurged decent money on to replace the cheap but practically useless $15 college days iron I'd had for over 40 years . I never thought an effective iron could bring such joy but it's amazing how it can really make a project look more professional, so I was very dissapoointed. Your tip worked like a charm . I tried a dye and perfume free sheet first and it was somewhat working, when I tried the regular sheet the sticky stuff came right off! So nice when a tip like this actually works and this is non abrasive so saves a Teflon finish from scratches. Thanks again

I have ironed on fabric fusing tape to adjust the length of my dress before I stitch it together. Also did the same with new tie around the neck shoulder straps which as you can immagine left the iron full if sticky mess. This tip cleaned the iron in less then 3 mins with no fuss at all! I used 3 of them sheets as my iron was in quiet bad state and OMG It WORKS!! Recommend to everyone if you have same problem.

Oh my gosh this worked so well. I was trying to do an iron on transfer and didn’t realize what happened until I turned the iron over. I was ironing the transfer upside down. The sticky paper was stuck to the iron. Didn’t know what to do so I looked it up. Found this trick & tried it immediately. Worked great. I balled a fabric softener sheet and rubbed it over the iron. After a couple of sheets, it’s off. Thanks so much!

I accidently touched the iron-on with my iron but almost immediately realized it so it wasn't too awful. The iron cleaner I bought is in my sewing room. Somewhere. So I came looking for solutions and found you. I recently had a mouse and heard that Bounce dryer sheets would repel them. But the cinnamon worked so the sheets were looking for a new job. They found it. I felt like I worked at it a little more than you but my iron is shiny clean now. Thank you.

BEST. TIP. EVER. I had a couple of spots where I got interfacing glue on my iron. Wasn't causing a problem, so I figured I'd clean it eventually. Then today, I was making double fold binding with waterproof canvas. Well, the canvas separated and I got the waterproofing on my iron in a large spot. Tried Magic eraser, simple green and goo gone and nothing worked. Then I saw this video and, voila! Had to use a few dryer sheets and take my fingers into my own hands, folded the sheet up several times, and wiped quickly on the little remaining spots (don't recommend this. You have to be really fast) and now my iron looks like new. I wouldn't have believed it if I'd not seen it myself. Took less than 5 minutes. Never using anything else, especially the expensive cleaners, to clean my iron. Thanks SO much for posting this!!!! Brilliant. Bonus ... my house now smells like fresh laundry :)
