I can sort of do this, but my tone is awful once I push air out with my cheeks, then goes back to normal once I use my lungs again. Anyone have tips for this?
you have to use your lungs for every note, but apparently the little air you have left if your mouth once your lungs run out is enough for you to breath to then use your lungs again
The shorter the inhalation thru nose the better. Kleinhammer's book points this out--don't try to take in a large amount of air --just a sniff--very short moment of cheeks pushing out air, and the cheeks don't have to bulge out, as you;ll note in Mr. Morrison's demo. Kleinhammer recommended this for bass trombone--a massive instrument of course!
I have a difficult time transitioning from pushing air out with my mouth back to pushing with the diaphragm. I get a obvious sound when I transition. How do you make it seamless?
Don't think about it. I learned 50 years ago from Clark Terry backstage at a concert in about 5 minutes of instruction. Relax. I play trumpet. I don't know about a flute

What I have trouble with is opening my lungs back up and having a smooth transfer
Can someone help? I can’t seem to get a note out without using my lungs. I don’t understand why.

I saw Kenny G perform and held a note as he walked through the audience for 2-3 minutes. The audience was amazed.

When is this handy you ask? When you are been breathalysed by a police man :-)

Edly P. It takes a while and daily practice to really get it smooth. So I’d say: keep at it until it sounds perfect
Thanks!
Edly P. Did it work?
hax
Why on God’s green Earth did this make me laugh so much when he said this video was riveting or if you do this backwards you’ll drown

That will be embarrassing in a glass of water 😂😂😂
I've NEVER seen the need to learn this. It seems to be a lot of work for very little gain.
one song. the flight of the bumblebee.
If your playing long songs or holding a note for a long time it will be very helpful
