Yea but then again, KIA optima just has forward vehicle collision warning and braking. Does NOT have any advertised "pedestrian" detection. It performed well in their vehicle braking test that the car actually has.
I would say the Hyundai slowing down is more than “not much better”. The hit by the Hyundai is survivable. The Kia flipped the dummy up over the roof of the car and would likely result in a fatality or crippling injuries.
Really? Wow. I'm shopping for a used MB S Class specifically for the pre-collision feature..so maybe I need to look at Volvo. Hopefully there is an older Volvo with this feature and ventilated front seats because I live in a very hot climate.
Nightbird ventilated seats in Volvo cars is a recent option, perhaps they started having them in their new SPA platform, so look into an 2017 or newer XC90, S90, V90 or an 2018 or newer XC60 or an 2019 or newer S60 and V60 😊
@@Mirror1973 Thanks so much for that info! One thing that has me worried about the Volvo pre-collision system is that I was trying to figure out at what highway speeds does the AEB (auto emergency braking) engage WITHOUT the vehicle being in cruise control..which as you know has it's own emergency braking system. I called Volvo's customer service number..and their customer service agent told me that if you are high cruising and not using the cruise control..the emergency breaking will not work and that it only works without cruise control being engaged at city speeds of under 50 mph. This didn't sound right to me..and I mentioned to her that Toyota's pre-collision system will work at speeds between 7 mph - 110 mph without using their cruise control..and that comes standard even in the cheapest Corolla..so surely Volvo has something similar..to which she replied no and that only if you are in cruise control do you get AEB at highway speeds. Would you know anything about this? I can't believe Volvo would sell a vehicle that only have highway AEB if you are in cruise control..when Toyota gives you both options even in their cheapest compact car.
I wish they would be more specific on the operating input status of the vehicles for this specific test. For example, from what I have seen of GMs system, driver input will always override these safety systems. Meaning if you have your foot on accelerator, the system won't activate. Ultimately making it so the buck stops with the driver, and not their system. I wonder what other auto makers current stance on these supplemental systems is?
Nissan has severe reliability issues and their AEB systems are way to sensitive. NHTSA is currently investigating Nissan because their stupid AEB systems are causing bad crashes on highways cause Nissan forgot to include an override so once the system activates it keeps going until it stops the car then it gives control back to the driver, that is if someone hasn't rear ended you yet
@@conradsealy9603 Not quite. With Mercedes, it measures the distance to the object in front. If there's enough space it'll release brake pressure so as to reduce the chance of getting rear ended. The system can then be overridden by accelerating if need be. Not sure of the rest.
Two interesting points: Mercedes: Add money for superior AEB, otherwise you got ONLY the basic. BMW: We offer standard, GOOD AEB! Add more money? U don’t need that! Go with basic rating lol
It's of course because Toyota didn't pay IIHS to do the test. Just think about it, if I make a video telling you that Subaru, Nissan and Audi are good cars in terms of active safety features, should I get nothing in return? This is capitalism not socialism haha
Mobi Wori - So I guess by your logic Kia/Hyundai paid to have IIHS do the test but IIHS just didn’t get the deposit notification from the bank. P.S. you think Nissan, Subaru, and Audi passed the test because they actually designed a competent driver aid system? I guess a conspiracy theory just sounds more sensational.
My Hyundai Elantra has the best pedestrian detection system not sure what’s up with these newer models some have autonomous braking with pedestrian detection and some just have autonomous braking.
Well at least Nissan can get safety right I have a Hyundai Kona and the AEB with Ped/detection works fine. These tests shouldn't be taken as a blanket statement that every model of that make safety system doesn't work. You just get lemons some times 🤷🏾♂️
Na they did the FORD DIRTY. THE CHILD OBVIOUSLY CAME OUT WAY TO LATE COMPARED TO HOW THEY DID THE SUBIE AND MAXIMA. By the time the fusion was a foot away the kid was on the side of the road there was no reaction time for the computer. But that Kia just missed up
Ford, Kia, Hyunday: FUCKING PEDS, they're taking our roads! imma teach him a lesson!!!! Do these auto makers even test their crap before announce it as a selling point to consumers. Should be illegal!
How about encourage consumers to use their eyes and brakes. And sow down when you’re driving next to cars that are parked like that. There will be no need for these systems.

KIA optima: what pedestrian 🚶🏿!? 😂😂
Sad but true
The Kia Optima was like... La La La La La La *Thump* La La La La La La La 😂
Mr. Solo Dolo I’m sure Kia cares about the safety of the people on the inside of the car just as little. Too bad.

Nissan has some fantastic brakes and sensors

Yes, their safety technology is good. Maxima is one of their best cars.
Let's face it. You can never have too many extra safety features on cars. All of these inventions are amazing... Well done guys, keep up the hard work
Mustangs are the only ones with issues from what I’ve seen. They can’t seem to avoid hitting pedestrians.
💀💀💀💀 that's mostly all of Ford cars
SP & ‘53, Daylight & Overnight pretty sad.
Lol. There are plenty of video compilations of mustang hitting shit all the time

Why aren’t the safety systems detecting farther back then once they get too close? I rather have the car stop way back then get too close for comfort

does it scan behind the car to make sure that it won't get rear ended after sudden brake slam?
Flighted then that depends on the other cars technology and safety features lol and if the driver can turn away or break in time
Brake lights will light up when brakes are engaged. If they get rear ended the other car was following to closely.
