As a rookie trucker I have been with swift 4 months. That in road situation is trash. I waited 3 hours and 37 minutes just to talk to someone about a flat tire on a trailer. There was a group of us swift drivers at an account in Connecticut and just as I did my empty call the 2 loads I was commuted to got taken from me. I figured they got canceled, come to find out a weekend planner took them from me and gave them to a owner/operator I was talking to while we waited to get our loads dispatched. Then the give me a load that picked up 10 hours later and delivered 2 days later. I don’t know why so many people make videos about how the money is good because as a northeast regional driver, we all got to talking and drivers are really struggling break $800 take home pay. Northeast regional is getting paid .80 cents a mile and you would think it would be that hard to break 1k take home. All I have to say is mega-carrier ? Maybe in their own minds.
Definitely feel the frustration. That’s bs especially taking money out your pocket. First thing I would’ve done was start making calls & let them know what was going on. BECARFULL FOR NEW DRIVERS The school was Ok, the mentor was good, but after the graduation, they promise for inexperience driver at least 1000 per week, but if they complete 5 days of work and gets what, the dispatchers are sure the drivers get stock with no trailer, wrong directions, no answer the phone, anyway they do everything for doesn't give you the 5 days driving and the inexperience drivers get paid no more than 400 a week which means you have to sleep in the truck for 2 o 3 days with no paid, no decent conditions for less than 400. is been 2 weeks and it's been the same situation week after week. That's the way Swift transportation makes money?

Yeah, a lot of the driver leaders really do suck and you won't make any money. I was with them for 8 yrs, but I was on a walmart account so I had a decent paycheck.
you're welcome. make sure you weigh your options with fleets that are available to you / in you're area. before picking ask to speak with the driver leader/manager to get accurate info on the fleet. good luck and stay safe
I completely agree with not getting things fixed, I went to pick up a load in Houston Texas and the landing gear hadn't been greased in so long rust was coming from everywhere, I tried and another driver tried and couldn't get it so they called break down and when they came out they finally got it and said they fulfilled their work out for the year. Once I got to delivery I made sure to do trailer repair on macro, I don't know why people don't do it, just do a Macro 38 even if it is a load you are dropping off because by the time they get to it more than likely it will be empty and if not at least they will know and can get it taken care of.
100% agree with you. They basically controlled the paychecks of drivers and if you didnt agree with them while they sat behind a desk your paycheck is not the result of their revenge
I've been with SWIFT since May of '21. Overall, I think it's a great place to start a career in trucking. I had my CDL prior to coming to SWIFT, so they didn't have that fact to hold over my head. If you can get your license on your own prior to joining a company, they don't have the cost of your training to use as an excuse for your earnings. I've seen great drivers as well as some sorry-ass drivers at SWIFT, you need to be ready to do a great job and make a good name for yourself.
Tbh when I started the new boston terminal was messed up.. from what I hear from other drivers it was suppose to be done this year but they're still working. was just there Friday.

Im a new cdl holder , no experience. This other company PTL is offering me more money and tuition reimbursement. Do you think that swift is still the best option for newbies like me? Thanks in advance. I just need a little guidance and I’m open to hear all advices. 🙏

Been with Swift for 8 months ready to hit my year mark so I can make more money with less miles and be home everyday. Swift is a great starter company but I would not recommend doing anything except Dedicated.
Swift is definitely a good starter company. maybe wish I would've start their because pay is better but with that being said if swift don't work out for you get a hold of me I might can help you out. but the dedicated part is true. only worth it because the extra pay and you get use to the routes
Some advice if it helps, I know you are in Chicago and I don't know maybe you want to be home more often but if you want to look at other opportunities they have or any other company here is what I do because some jobs you are not able to get because they want you to live within a certain radius from the terminal so what I do is look for a motel and I put that address as where I live, I still keep my mailing address for my home but that gives me opportunities I would not have had if I didn't granted if it is local work for that area chances are you would have day cab but I do Dallas to Houston and because I am not able to make it back home every day I have a sleeper truck. If this is something you would look into, maybe you and your family want to move to another area this could work for you, God Bless you and your family.

I been threw that same issue but it have improved by one or two phone calls.

When you hear language like driver leader it should be a red flag they use these words to establish hierarchy.
