His advice helped me out a lot when I was Rookie and saved me from making serious mistakes. Even as a more experienced driver, his winter driving advice got me through some very serious stuff. Rest in Peace Dave, the world is darker without you😔

Thank you for teaching this frightened Rookie the ropas. I pray that the Lord strengthens your family
My most sincere condolences to you Mrs. C/Kathy and your family. I can’t even believe this is true 😢😢. When I started trucking back in 2015. I had looked for experienced professional truck drivers to learn from and to absorb wisdom from. I found Mr. Dave and the Smart Trucking channel. I learned so much from him that made me better as a truck driver. I also enjoyed his trucking stories as well. May God be with yall through this terrible time. Salute to Mr. Dave. A true professional.
Our creator finally needed you to drive his truck. You’ll be missed down here Dave! God bless your family.
This is extremely saddening, watched Dave since 2016 when I got into trucking and learned so much. Him sharing his knowledge and experiences as well as his stories are invaluable. I always say this is the best trucking channel there is and I always recommend it to the new guys coming in to trucking, so that they can learn some of the tips and tricks of a true professional truck driver because I want them to be safe on the road. Dave’s teachings absolutely helped save lives and made better truck drivers. I learned so much from him that wasn’t taught at school or by the companies I worked for. Rest In Piece Dave, you created the best trucking channel there is and thank you for creating it and leaving it for us and the future generation of professional truck drivers to learn from. Keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down! And to his wife Cathy who is just as important to this channel my condolences go out to you and your family.
Dave will be missed. I count him as one of my favorite drivers and influences out here on the road. Rest easy Hand, we’ll carry the load from here.
Cathy and Nick, I am truly sorry for your loss. Your team has made such a difference to so many drivers. Thank you from all of us out here on the Big Road.

OMG I just came across this……what on earth happened? I feel like I just lost a family member.
Best Trucker……and his old school stories kept me remembering good times. 😢😢😢
August 15? He’s been gone for almost 6 weeks?
On to the great truck stop in the sky, RIP driver, my condolences to your whole family.
I am a retired short-haul trucker in Virginia and always enjoyed his videos. He was a very sensible man with a massive amount of information.
He was truly a bank of knowledge who definitely was a credit to the profession.
Condolences to his family and may he Rest In Peace!!
🇺🇸 🇨🇦
NOOOOO.....!!!! That guy made me feel like I was apart of the old cloth of trucking... please accept my sincerest condolences... Definitely will be missed...!!!
I'm so sorry his videos really made a difference to me
I'm really sorry for your loss. Anyone who watches this channel has lost a great source of knowledge. I had a driver trainer a lot like Dave, he didn't just teach me to drive a truck, he taught me to be a truck driver. He probably saved my life because I was only 21 when I started long hauling. I think any young driver should watch every video on this channel as part of their training. I really like the content and think Dave and I would have been buudies if we met up out on the road. Catch you on the backhaul Dave...
Whew, sad to here, i got into truck driving after law enforcement as he was an example of an excellent truck driver, it made me go to cdl school,, loved all his information, he will be sadly missed, keep that Pete in the family.
Rest Easy Dave, We'll take it from here. We offer our most sincere condolences. You taught us a ton, and we will miss your stories, they live on with every upload you had.
My condolences. May god guide you through the grieving process.
My condolences to your family. Dave will be greatly missed. I'm glad Smart Trucking will continue.
I never had the opportunity to meet Dave although I really wish I had. I have followed him along his journey for the last few years and although I have not always agreed with everything that he said but I certainly respect the man for saying it. Our industry has lost a very big voice when we need it the most. Peace and respect to his family and know that he is not gone he's just driving that big highway in the sky. Roll on sir!!
So sorry to hear he passed. He gave me hope, inspiration, and pointers when I first started out. I will truly miss him. My condolences to you and your family
Condolences to Kathy and the rest of the family. Thank you for everything...
Always enjoyed Dave's smart trucking. Informative channel and he will be greatly missed....😢😢😢😢.... My condolences to your family
Watching his vids was like sitting around a coffee shop absorbing wisdom from a real pro. Too young. Damn it man.
All of us drivers need to follow Dave's example of teaching and mentoring
A sad morning. Thank you for sharing this experience. ❤always.

Rest in peace Dave.
I met Dave some 35 years ago in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario I bumped into him on and off as truckers do for a few years before I moved out west. He was the real deal back then it came through on his UA-cam channel as well. Cathy, you and I have talked on the phone a few years ago when I was at the Peterbilt store on the West Coast. My most profound condolences to you and the family. He will be greatly missed those that knew them well.

I’ll never forget his hockey stick shifter extension video.
I tried that myself with an old box truck I drove at the time that was a manual. Except with a baseball bat. Didn't go so well. Lol
Dave helped me make the right choices in the trucking industry since my first day as a driver. He seemed like an awesome guy. I will miss his videos. Sorry for your loss. Keep the rubber side down. RIP
