- This is a recipe of my segment of recipes that we ate in school
This is a very simple recipe and very delicious
Ingredients
3/4 cups water warm
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 packet yeast(2 tsp)
1 tbsp granulated sugar
3/4 tsp salt
1 tbsp olive oil
MY CHOICE OF TOPPINGS
2 cups chopped pepperoni
1# cooked ground beef
3 cups mozzarella cheese
12oz pizza sauce
Instructions
In a warm mixing bowl, add warm water (about 100F), yeast and half the sugar. Mix then wait about 7 minutes or until you see bubbles forming in the mixture.
Mix the flour, remaining sugar, and salt in a bowl.
Attach a dough hook to a stand mixer then add the flour and mix on low for about 1 minute. Increase to medium speed until the dough comes together in a ball.
Lightly flour your work surface and knead the dough until it's smooth and springs back when poked.
Use oil to coat the dough ball. Place it in a greased bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and place in a warm draft-free place to rise for about an hour or until the dough has doubled in size.
Preheat the oven to 350F degrees. When the dough has doubled, press it down and shape into a disk.
shape out dough into circle or square
dock with fork and par bake for 10 minutes
add sauce, cheese and your choice of toppings.
Bake at 450F for about 12-15 minutes or until golden.

I went to New York & Michigan schools in the 60's and 70's I never got no pizza like the one Chef cooked. This must have been served in southern schools.
Great recipe and work! This brings back some good memories.
I was high school in the’80s, ‘86 grad. I remember our pizza had a thick, soft dough with ground meat which kinda infused in the bread. I think the sauce was cooked in the ground meat first and then baked with the dough along with the cheese.
My great aunt was the head cook at my school and man, do I wish I could have asked for the recipe when she retired. She passed away in the summer after my graduation but I’ll forever have her memory and the great pizza she and the rest of the lunchroom ladies made. Especially their spaghetti!
This really brought back memories, I always looked forward to Pizza day. I was looking for this old school recipe so thank you very much!
I was a "lunch lady" and the baker at an elementary school for about 6yrs. A car accident left me unable to return to the job but it was definitely one of my favorite jobs. We made EVERYTHING from scratch including all the breads including hamburger buns. We boiled turkeys and picked the meat off the bone. We made real food not mystery patties from the freezer. We taught those kids to eat well and homemade. This recipe brought bake some happy memories.
Vegelene! Oh my goodness that stuff was the best but hard to find in my area.
Yep, back in the day the food was homemade school lunches but not today. The food mostly comes in a box to be heated up. Ugh!
Could you please help me with a food memory? On soup day, there was a peanut butter roll that I would love to know the recipe for. I'm in NC.
I still remember the lunch ladies in elementary school, names & where they lived, had a paper route! Brought back good memories! You gave a lot of kids happy memories! Bless you😇
Love it! This is the exact kind of pizza my mom made us growing up. Not with homemade crust, but boxed mix. 🙃 But with hamburger and if we had enough money it would have pepperoni! Love this and hamburger pizza is still my favorite! Thanks, Chef! Gonna make this version for dinner this week!!
I love watching him cook and bake, everything looks so delicious.
I LOVE watching you bake and cook. I absolutely LOVE your YT channel. :D
Wow this is the best/easiest recipe of the old school SCHOOL pizza! I use to love this in middle school!
Thank you. Brought back a lot of good memories of school
I’m making this tomorrow - Sunday football! I shared with my sister. We remember this from grade school! Thanks for this great recipe & video.
I used a 9 1/2” x 13”, it’s a vintage pan from my grandma’s farm, but any pan close to this size will work if you’re making the single recipe. The first time I just added onion powder to melted butter, didn’t give much flavor. This time I melted a little fresh in the butter, had a more garlic flavor on the crust. My grandkids had fun using the mixer & kneading the dough. It’s great learning for kids to measure, follow the written directions, and have fun. Sorry I didn’t get back to you, had a family issue out of state.
OMG that looks descrumptious! I I love the idea of putting cheese on it twice, and also the garlic butter.
I really enjoyed watching you make this. When my kids were growing up, we made our homemade pizza every Friday night. They each got their own piece of dough to roll out and make their pizza. One important thing I had to remember was that they were learning, and that it was going into a hot oven. They had fun and of course I taught them about being hygienic while they were cooking, but I often found myself praying that some of what I saw would burn off and die in the oven, lol. I hope that this little tidbit helps the parents who try this with their kids to enjoy this time!
My thoughts exactly. It’s a easy recipe for kids to make
😅😅😅😅😅
That's the kind of pizza I had in elementary school. Yum!
I love this cafeteria segment! My dad loves cafeteria style food! Thanks for these recipes!!!
Glad you like them!
Our Pizza in mid-school and highschool only had cheese and it was thinner. His pizza look good.
I never thought about cutting up pepperoni Looked so yummy i am making me one .
Thank you I'm gonna make me a pizza dough going to make me pizza .I learn a lot from watching you simple and easy.
My daughter has always been a picky eater and when she turned around 16 years old she started hating premade pizza dough. Now I’m gonna use your dough recipe so I can cook pizza at home.
chef love your homemade pizza recipe enjoy watching you cook

Love how you clean as you cook! I’m that way too! More people need this habit!
My mouth is watering, that looks so good
I must say, this looks a lot more tasty than the pizza they served to us in Oklahoma public schools back in the olden days :-)
Thank you, for sharing your wonderful recipe ! Mystery solved ! I have always wondered how it was made.
You are a gifted chef and teacher, who makes cooking and learning an enjoyable and stress-free experience. Wishing you and your family blessings !

Just love this recipe! It’s my go to, & is pretty close to what I used to have for lunch @ school. Wishing you & yours Happy Holidays😊
Thank you! You too!
Unbelievable!!! I have looked all over for this recipe! I was viewing your chicken dressing recipe for tomorrow & this video popped up. And...ur in the Houston area, as am I. Can't wait to try your recipes. Lord I plead the blood of Jesus over this dressing.😔

Thanks 🙏🏾. I really appreciate that
I love your cooking you remind me of my deceased granddad....made me cry a bit.
yep, no fancy ingredients on top of our school pizza back in the 80's... we'd be lucky to get meat at all. I think our meat was the diced "pepperoni"... I remember the corn meal crust and all the greasy deliciousness of it all.

Easy pizza recipe to follow, thank you.
You’ve inspired me beyond measure. Love all you do and it amazes me how you cook with a small cooking space like most of us have.

Awesome chef!👍🏻👏🏻
Oh Lawd. You took it there 🍕🥰
This Pizza 🍕 looks so good. Nothing like homemade pizza 😋. Unfortunately when I was a kid we never even seen Pizza on the menu. I graduated in 1970. I guess way back then the schools hadn't got kids friendly yet!!!! Chef Jeffery I love how you put a lot of cheese on it. I'm a extra cheese person! Continue to keep stiring up your gifts for the Lord Chef Jeffery 🎁🎁
Good morning Chef. This is by far better than the cafeteria pizza I ever ate in school and even compared to what they serve at my daughter's school now. I'm sure if the kids had your pizza, they would never complain. Your pizza turned out beautiful. Usually when I buy a pizza pie, I also order a salad to go with it to make it a somewhat "healthy" meal. I'm definitely going to try making this. thanks again for sharing another great recipe.
I just made this for my dad and I and he loves it,I love it,better than school pizza! Thank you so much again
Thank you for the video. . I'm gonna try it myself.
Beautiful
This is awesome! I can't wait to make a vegetable one. Thanks for sharing.
You can't beat your pizza with a stick! 😀
Looks amazing, that’s the slice I’d pick too. Nice job!
I love this cafeteria series!

Thanks and welcome
Looks great, I gotta try it : )
My school had the square flat pizza but it definitely was about 1/3 as thick as yours! lol looks way better than our cafeteria pizza.
I wish my school pizza was like this!!! Omg looks amazing
Your instructions were on point. I make my pizza also. Like yours, I put some meat on my pizza's.
Looks delicious, thanks for sharing. Enjoy
Thank you too

Wow, I need a piece
I loved this style pizza 🍕 😋
Yummy Love Joanne Resh 😋
That looks a lot better than the pizza I had at school 😋!!! Pizza day in our school cafeteria was everyone’s favorite! Also cafeteria chilli and giant cinnamon rolls (they go really well together).
damn Chef! that looks truly amazing!
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
that looks so good
Looks delicious!! For me, the crust is everything!! Never made it, but I’m gonna give it a try!! Thanks so much!!!!
You are so welcome!
Thing I remember most about school pizza (at least in FL, where I’m from) was those little seeds. I now know them to be fennel seeds!
Y'all had the fancy pizza. 😄
Luv the Cafeteria School cooking recipes Wheatley Wildcats
Chef Jeffrey, wow you make it look so easy. I am going to try your recipe and definitely the dough. Your pizza looks mouth watering. All I need is to add a green salad and cold ice tea. Thank you for making this homemade pizza. Stay safe.
Thanks so much
Love pizza!
Love watching your videos! Could you post link to your spices? Thanks!
I've been looking for this recipe for 20 years. Now all I need is the recipe for the big cinnamon cookie with the peanuts in it.
OMG...I loved the pizza back in school. You made it look extra delicious and easy to make. Definitely will be making one of these pizzas with your dough recipe, You are a Master Chef and Baker. All SOOOO Good. Remember when they had the big cans of government peanut butter and they would make the best peanut butter cookies and bars with chocolate or peanut butter icing. I would buy an extra cookie, wrap it in a napkin cause it was yum with pb grease....I'd eat it on the long walk home. Ohhhh soooo goood. You take care, CHEF, I will be back for more recipes!!
Awesome memories
That peanut butter also made the best peanut butter delight! I still make it.
Oh wow I do t know how I found your channel but I’m hooked. Your food looks delicious and I will be making this. I hope you have old school cafeteria spaghetti.
I do. Search old school spaghetti
I'm a Chicagoan. If it isn't pan or deep dish like this recipe.....forget it!😀
This looks like a Detroit style pizza. Their pizza is 🔥 too!
I'll try to make this pizza but I hate putting my hands in dough. 😔
I enjoy your cooking. You keep it real and easy. 😀
The food always looks delicious. 🖤
Love, love, love me some Chicago deep dish. I used to live there and I ate plenty of it. This does remind me of Detroit-style pizza too.
Get yourself some well fitting food grade gloves. My hands can get a little itchy handling dough so I totally understand. The gloves are a lifesaver. :)
That looks so delicious I will have to try it thank you so much.
You are so welcome
Nice job 👏 👍 👌 What size baking pan did you use to make a double batch?
If you are married, she is one blessed woman
💯💯🔥
Okay; our cafeteria must have done it like this. I looked forward to pizza day which was on Wednesdays and sometimes Fridays : )
Once again I appreciate the tips and suggestions as additional recipe elements : ) We're making this tonight!
I remember that pizza in my day to
Looks delicious
Thank you 😋
I bet yours taste better than the cafeterias
Thank you, Chef Jeffrey for showing us how to make real delicious pizza with the secret garlic butter crust! 🤗 Your pizza came out picture perfect and that Texas slice is out of this world. Seems simple enough that everyone should attempt to make it -- the large pizza will be perfect to bring to a potluck. 😀
Thanks
Omgosh I want a piece lol
School pizza is so good
Lord when I saw this recipe I thought about my father! GOD rest his soul he would bring leftovers from the cafeteria after cleaning up the school and this was something we tear it up!!
Looks good but start zooming in on food for us please closer look thanks
Yes Lawwwddddd!!!!!
Hi, maybe a little late but I see u got a glass mixer 🥣 u go boy. Have a bless day
Thank you! You too!
What size pan are you using?
We love this recipe, (I make it almost every week), but I think I'm using a much bigger pan. It works, we like a thin crust, and the dough is delicious and the method is great, but I'm curious about the difference. Thanks!
Idk actually
@@OLDSCHOOLSOULFOOD no worries, thanks for responding. Best.
My grandma never bought loaf of bread. She made her bread or hot water cornbread. Whe she made stew the biscuits to me was a big biscuit
When I was in 4th grade our school apparently got a couple boxes of BAD pizzas. Kids were throwing up all over the school! Over the intercom: "Mr. Jones (the janitor)...mop for 2nd grade hall!....Mr. Jones..mop for 5th grade hall......Mr. Jones.......
You are Awesome
