I do something similar every fall. I go to my cabin, which has no wifi, no cell service, and lamps for light sources. Wake up, make corned beef hash on the gas stove, stare out into the colorful forest for 2 hours, do whatever I want (normally going to the lake to swim, going caving, or just walking around the property with the dogs) until it is dinner time (Yes, I have lunch), chop up logs, build a fire, make some dinner, save the oil, make smores with the leftover coals, put the fire out completely, put more logs on the drying pile, feed the dogs, brush teeth and change, read a book for a half hour, go to sleep. That was very detailed, but still.
Can I just say Vonix, I’m glad to see a new and improved thumbnail on this video. It’s actually one of my favourite videos on your channel and it should do wonders now. Much better thumbnail and edit! 😁👍
@zenityracer75 You can fix your attention span with enough time and work, you can do it. This is a way to do it. He even explained it in the video that soing this will help
Alright, literally after watching this I set up a timer for 1 hour and stared at a rubber band on the floor. The result, I realised how lonely and sad I've been for the past 4 years after my highschool graduation. I lost almost all of my friends, even the ones that are left right now are drifting from me. I don't even talk to them online anymore and I rarely talk to my parents now even though i live with them. I do nothing but work now and don't go out, I have my dream job, a new car, so much money but all of that just feels worthless now that I'm alone. I've been trying to accomplish so much in such a short time that I didn't realise what I would be losing in the same time. I just feel so pathetic now that on minute 30 I actually started crying, I don't even remember the last time I cried. I just lost everyone and I didn't even realise it So now I have a new goal, I want to reconnect with everyone. My family, friends and romantic interests. It may be hard and painful, but it would be much better then the last 4 years
What a beautiful video with a beautiful and important message. You inspired me to think more about my dopamine consumption and general behavior. This kind of stuff should be shown/teached in schools. Thank you!
i find it kind of ironic that of the people who view this video very few will be able to break the cycle of consumption. they will watch, they will enjoy, they will move on. massive respect to you for commiting though!
As long as I got music I'm good, but I wish short form media was illegal because I am slightly addicted (not 15 y/o girl addicted, but like i spend 15 min on there too often)
Thank you, this has inspired me to go a full 7 days without any social media, video games, or tv. I will soon feel your pain but also the satisfaction with the small things in life
I love this video! It's really hard to break the cycle of consumption sometimes. Meditation and any practice or message of mindfulness helps me be in the present moment, instead of anticipation the next moment or hit of dopamine. Thank you for reminder that I need to practice this more!
Bro your the most underrated youtuber ive seen, your videos looks so good but yet your channel is still not popular. I hope your channel grows rapidly and you get a lot of recognition!
4:36 ik how this feels bro 🙏this happens to me almost everyday because of school. Whenever it's math class the fucking teacher forces me to sit on the first desk everytime and i literally just stare at the clock or a wall and think about how miserable my life is and that i can't go outside and play or just do the stuff i want to and make up random games, things while staring.
This motivated me alot, thanks for this. I try a lot to stay away from social media ( majorly UA-cam) . And i have progressed a lot like my screen time at one point was 8-10 hrs but now it has reduced to 3-4 . I did this by talking to myself. Whenever i am free i try to avoid mobile phone and talk to myself instead making new and different stories in my head.
my acoustic ass would start thinking about economic implications of buying a new clock, the manufacturing of said clock, the mining of resources, the building of offshore oil rigs to make the plastic, the history of time telling & clocks and the physics and mechanics behind time, electronics and so much stuff i would go absolutely insane (i already talk to myself in everyday life when im alone, this would cause schizophrenia in me 💀)
I knew that my brain was doing this and i didn`t know how to stop this. Watching this video will change my life. Thank you for showing this to the world and honestly you should keep up showing people this, because your what i call a real teacher
Wow, what do i say?, this video is amazing, this video made me reflexive, is fr that overstimulation is not always good, i love this, this inspired me to go without my cellphone.
I would love to see a follow up of this, truly an interesting experience. I've been feeling absolutely numb to my enjoyments. I can't read, write, play games. I hope around endlessly trying to find something that hits. Maybe, I need to detox.
What if when ever after you do this sit down and you don't have any mobile or electronics and you start thinking and when you are thinking you see that clock ticking
