Comparing Propeller Guards For The DJI Mini 2
Вставка

- In this video, we are comparing 3 different sets of propeller guards for the DJI Mini 2 as well as the Original Mavic Mini. All these sets work well but they all have their own pros and cons. We do a quick flight demo indoors and talk about which set is best for specific scenarios and who would benefit from using a propeller guard on the DJI Mini 2.

Great review of the various prop guards for the DJI Mavic Mini and Mini 2. I didn't know there were so many options. If I were to get prop guards, I think I would go with the PGY ones, since they offer full coverage.
Thank you, great review; I'd love to see a comparison of performance of different prop guards where the drone has to pass through tree leaves outdoors.
Thanks for this review, helpful. I might end up getting the DJI official ones as I need to do some narrow path nature flying and already had one crash without them lol
Great video ! I suspect when it comes to warranty it is always best to buy the DJI guards, because DJI officially stated on their forum that any untested 3rd party accessoires void your warranty. And I think they are the best of both worlds (compact/weight vs protection + waranty) so I bought those.
Great comparison, how about the battery using these propeller guards? Reduce a little or much the flying time?
Great comparison video. I like the grey ones. The others provide more protection but are too big and clunky looking.
Thank you very much
Great review ... My thoughts ... You trade weight for protection and, imo, have 2 choices.
More weight means faster battery drain and shorter flight time... But you are better protected.
The official DJI guards are the middle of the road compromise. If you get one set, get those.
The two aftermarket work well as a pair imo. Get both. The super minimal lightweight, AND the full cage. Use either as circumstance of flight dictates. No need for the DJI version if you have both the other extremes.
I bought the DJI set specifically for the Mini 2. I ordered them with the drone because I live too close to an airport to fly outdoors and I wanted to be able to test this thing indoors before I ventured out. They work great. But... I will never have them available to me anywhere but home. They won't fit in a drone bag/case and I'd never pack them in my luggage. I wouldn't say they are any less to pack than the cage. They are two pieces, but stacked or side by side they require at least as much (maybe even more) space as the cage overall. The minimal set I could put into my drone bag and have at least some minimal protection should I fly indoors on travel. For peace of mind, I will unquestionably add a set of the smallest ones to my cart.
Just got the mini 2 and I love it ,so thanks for the great videos. My anxiety levels went through the roof watching you purposely fly it into the wall though haha.
Hi There, just tested my Mini 2 in payload mode and the height is limited to 98ft, not 25ft which is pretty reasonable. Good to hear you can still fly it outside without payload mode on though. This is because I have a client who wants me to film inside their building then exit through the door and go up and backwards to frame up their property. I'm probably going to have to go pretty high as the property is a disused railway station!! We plan to do this on a fairly still day. So the prop guards are there in case I hit the door frame on the way out, so these guards aren't just for beginners, we've been flying years! Mainly to re-assure the client!
Thanks for sharing
I need to start my own channel ive been been making modifications to the different sets available, mostly drilling small holes to reduce weight. Some of these things are WAY over engineered. Its important to note that if the drone hits an object like a wall going fast the guards may save your inexpensive props but the drone is going to flip up or down and lose control. Im thinking about wrapping a very thin plastic mesh around the guards so they can fly into trees and have a better chance of survival. Ohhh the time it would take to make those would be long but fun to test
Here because of Neo and Flip got built on prop guards and I forgot you could attach guards on drones without em lol Thanks
Pygtech cage is unavailable everywhere I've looked, wondering if any other OEMs make these?
It’s funny how many people care about the weight limit. 😂 spooky ghosts gonna fine you/catch your drone Ooooo😲
😂😂😎👍💯%
😂😂😎👍💯%
I thought light drones meant a heavier payload capacity hahahaha
@@SkeezyFPV it is the opposite
I don’t care about being over really. For me it’s a matter of strain on the motors and how it may effect performance. Some people are spooked by that rule I’ve noticed.
Very good video. Thanks.
Best review. Thank you so much
Can you make more videos about gopro hero 8 Black?
Thank you for your video. Very helpful. I bought the original ones by DJI and waiting for my package to arrive while I'm watching your video. You have a new subscriber .. thank you again.
I want a dji mini 2 nice video
Thanks, as always, for the FANTASTIC video. I just got a Mini 3 Pro and would love to add the super safe looking PGYTech CAGE... but it looks like they do not make that for the Mini 3 Pro. Is there a similar CAGE propeller guard that you know of for the Mini 3 Pro? Do you know why PGY stopped making that? Also, in the interim, I ordered the STARTRC Mini 3 Pro Propeller Guard . Is StarTRC a good company? Do you know how those propeller guards work for Mini 3 Pro? Thanks for your words of wisdom [and all your great videos]. - Eric ZORK Alan & Sweetie [ Professional Poets & Bed Vloggers ]
Do you find if pgytech cage it fits to mini 3 pro?
Well, I leaned a few things about prop guards. I also learned that you hate that painting.
Thankyou the easy to do & Protective Guard selection video demo. Take care:))
Whichever you choose, get prop guards. It's a must especially for close-quarters flying.
Wuss
Thanks, that's the info I was looking for.
Will the 360° Propeller Guard work for mini 3
Now I need the Pgytech. Crashed mine onto a tree while doing some work and got me terrified ever since 🤣🤣
Do they have any for the mini 3 pro
Yes, DJI released an official set that works on both the pro model have the regular model. Plus, there are many third-party options available on Amazon.
Can anyone tell me what is the max height and distance with this propeller guard??
I think I liked the DJI set the most.
Ya they were small and still provided a lot of protection
Does high temp in a car or car trunk warp any of them?
That is a good question I’m not 100% sure but I’ve had glasses deform in a car before on the dash so I assume any of that plastic could be susceptible to extreme heat like that
Are these compatible with the mini 3 pro?
Thanks for the comparisons. One question: My Mini-2 detects the Prop-guards and automatically goes into payload mode limiting my altitude to 95 Ft. REGARDLESS of the "Enable Payload Mode" setting. DJI didn't help. Any thoughts?
Where did buy full guard drone?
Any info on flight duration performance with these attached?
Hey thanks for the vid. The more "3D" the more protection, but are there any which wont set the drone in "payload mode" I like to use them but the 30 m horizontal and 50 vertical radius limits are a bit of constrain for the type of video I want to make sometimes. Cheers
I use the original dji mini and they work great
Does mavic mini 1 propeller protectors also fit mavic mini 2?
Halo, can I fly with the pgytech without payload mode at outdoor?
question is there a red color for the pgy
Hi!! That PGYTECH propeller guard, does it work with the Mini 3 Pro?!?
There are specific ones for the mini 3 pro. These ones are not compatible. You can just do a search on Amazon. There are plenty available.
Great video 👍🏼
Pls make a short video on how to enable the drone orientation feature on the Mavic air 2 drone.
Pls🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Have been requesting u for a long time now😔
I’m not sure what you mean by drone orientation feature?
@@AirPhotography it's an icon on the bottom of the screen on the middle in white color which tells u which direction is the drone facing from the controller.
Pls do a video on that.
I'm sure this would help a lot of people out there.
great video well done
How much is flight time affected using the dji prop guards on mini 2?
I’ve never really did any kind of time testing but it’s safe to assume you’re going to lose a few minutes. It will also depend on other factors like wind as the prop guards will add more resistance. It will deplete the battery quicker as the motors have to work harder.
Are there any 3d printed versions that keep the mini 2 under the 250g limit?
That's not possible for a prop guard to be under 1gram after all cuz the dji drone is already at 249 gram
Good video 😉
I can't find the PGYTech prop cage anywhere!
how do you control the drone so effortlessly and so fast?
DJI drones are pretty easy to fly. Once you spend a little time on the sticks and get very comfortable with their movements
thanks! would you recommend tweaking the mapping of the buttons for something more intuitive? or should I just go with the default one for starters?
@@aeonbreak4728 how is your intuition/muscle memory going?
When propeller guard is mounted on DJI MINI2, playload mode restricts the distance 50 meters and altitude.. is there way we can overcome .. it automatically turns on the playload mode 🤨..
Can you use the original Mavic Mini prop guards on Mini 2? The gaurds for Mavic Mini are a bit cheaper also.
Can you provide the link of the cage propeller protection ?
Wish i had a set the other day. Down my mini two. Fully Submerged for 2-3 minutes. Dried and okay. Lost a battery
I just got the mini 2 a week ago and got a set of propeller guards, like the first ones you tested but enclosed on the top part as well. I was limited to a height of 30 meters, even with the payload button set to on.
My Mini-2 detects the Prop-guards and automatically goes into payload mode limiting my altitude to 95 Ft. REGARDLESS of the "Enable Payload Mode" setting.
@@williamschwartz9283 Mine doesn't. I gave the guards to my neighbor.
95 feet is just under 30 meters.
Hi pgytech does it works on mini3 pro too?
These specific ones will not work with the mini 3 However, there are one’s designed just for it.
@@AirPhotography thank you, i am looking for something u reviewed in this video, looks very safe for ppl new like me to drone, haven't found it yet, but i ll keep looking, as no side sensor on mini 3 pro i am worried😟
Can I buy the prop guards first and then the Mini 2 later?
Yes of course
I have the DJI one. Bought it to fly around indoors and outside between trees. Only used it once so not sure that was a good buy! Maybe one day it’ll come in handy.
You still have it?
@@RetroModeDays No. Gave it to my son when I gifted him my mini. Not sure he even used it either lol.
Good information
We need to find ultralight guards for the mini 2 to Satisfy the category 1 for part 107
Unless we find an ultra-light 3rd party battery ANY guards will automatically put it over the 249.99g limit. Also, won't we need Remote ID as well to comply? Adding a RI transmitter would def put it over the top for weight. Over all I'm pretty confused about what is grandfathered in and what isn't. My impression is that NO Cat 1, 2, or 3 drones are truly clear for sustained flying over human beings right now.
@@Ridgeback65 nothing will be grandfathered in for part 107 or otherwise.
I prefer the minimalistic ones. Also they are less than 3USD here in China
great info... i wasn't aware of the 25 ft limit on payload mode... good to know... lol Thanks, Shawn! God bless... Kevin
Thank you and thanks for watching
my mini2 felt in water you think i can repear it with alcohol 96 %
I would just try drying it out
Will these affect my DJI warranty or DJI Care Plan?
Yes, so it is best to buy the official DJI guards to make sure your waranty isn't voided. It is stated on their forum.
Nice one
What is the name of that case guard , the one look like square
pgytech
Great information and explanation as usual 👍🏻
Hitting the drone to the walls “intentionally” is like torturing it 😂🤣
Thanks again 👏🏻
Yes indeed
Love the orignal design, cage one,s sticks to keep it away props always get squashed when it comes actually I mean when you attach the cage prop guard the props always touches the props also cage propguard is too bulky to keep that in dji mini 2 bag
.... run on sentence makes my head spin to try and understand....
i like the Cage _ as its important to b safe from trees n branches
Would you be able to sell me the PGYTech propeller guards?
Hey watch the painting!!!
Just dusting the furniture! =)
I should've used mine so it wouldn't be as screwed up from crashing cuz once u crash it, everything changes almost forever
Esses protetores atrapalham mais do que ajudam! -_-
1:52 good video but no one really cares about weight
I do haha more weight.. less time flying, more air resistance
After this video you need to paint again your walls 😂
MONEY WILL NOT SAVE YOU
It sounds like u need to open the window let those bee's 🐝 out
I just got a 🐝 today 👍
I subscribed you aswell
