    I’ve had mine since 2008 or whatever year it came out….ive made 117 beats on it since August 11th and it’s never ever had a problem….i would seriously stand up for this machine over any other ever made for me.

      @ I’m glad you do…I have a confession…I’ve never upgraded mine to the 2.0…still running the 1.0 on mine but I do have the CD install and 180 mb install….i also run about 92 different programs because when I bought it I had just come into some big cash at the time…not millionaire cash or anything but 20,000 or so and the guy at guitar center offered me like 4 bundles of kits so I just forked over the money at the time…it was the best decision or one of the top 5 I’ve ever made for my music making. Appreciate ya! Sorry to ramble on over the machine but I’m telling ya it’s been a fantastic thing for me…I do t understand all the hate it got when it released because I had it at the time and I was seriously expecting the worst for the longest time…been almost 20 years now since then.

      @@vektacular the hate for the machine is actually pretty simple. Akai made it out like the replacement for the 4000 saying that it’s the new flagship. But the reality was that they had gone in a different direction SOFTWARE wise and it is a flagship for its time, but it’s time was going in a different direction and a lot of people cannot let go of the fact that it is not a massive improvement over the 4000. If you look at it for what it is, overall it is actually better than the 4000 because of all the extra features, but it’s not the features that people wanted and they anticipated it to just be an increase on what already existed. It was definitely not that and I don’t know if it needed to do that to be honest with you.
      Plus the numbers speak for themselves. As much as people love the 4000, they forget that as a company you have to look at the metrics and they sold quite a few 4000s but not as many as 2000 Excel so after a while, you have to ask yourself as a business does it make sense to continue spending the money on this thing that’s not moving considering it’s so large and it really only lives in recording Studios or should we go in a different direction? They’re still a company they have to make decisions and where to invest their time and money.

      @ I guess if the 5000 was all you knew at the time and it was your first machine then you could see where I was confused…I had just made the first machine purchase and it was the 5000 so I’m sitting there like…” I don’t see the problem” cuz I wasn’t thinking about any other MPC…but yeah, I see how it could be hated for not being a drastic improvement or for going in the direction that people didn’t want it to go but I never had that experience to compare.

    My 5000 was just doing the same thing, and I just replaced the sensors 4 months ago, they say it’s air under the sensor that can cause pad problems, I just recently tried cutting the sensor to get the air out and it worked, with out having to replace again, it’s a vid on UA-cam that explains the process

    I was told by a Full Sales valedictorian graduate in 2001 that pro tools clock was garbage and you needed hardware such as The Apogee Big Ben Master Clock which has a sampling rate of 192 kHz to record and convert all the analog audio to digital into pro tools. If not, you’ll lose some of the audio in the recording process from one to the other eventually leading to it all not sounding the same when comparing the results.

    • @PetrolMediaInc
      @PetrolMediaInc  4 місяці тому

      If you had multiple devices yes you need a clock. If it was just one thing then it was fine. I use to set pro tools as the master and have the MPC tell the fantom what was needed. It worked out fine most of the time. At the major studios they had clocks so in those scenarios we would use one.

    Whats your thoughts on benefits of a modern MPC vs a APK249 in terms of controls? Whe I look at a modern MPC I see the exact same pads, nobs, buttons, and faders on the MPK249 and the MPK mini 3 so what's difference?

    • @PetrolMediaInc
      @PetrolMediaInc  2 місяці тому +1

      The pads on the MPK series and MPC series, at least for the one, do you feel similar. I’ve never tried the APK so I don’t know too much about those, but I think the real benefit is using something that you already understand the system. If the system is different, then it might slow down your progress, which is something I’m not a fan of these days. I’d rather add to the thing I understand the most rather than learn something completely different.

    • @HOLLASOUNDS
      @HOLLASOUNDS 2 місяці тому

      @PetrolMediaInc The MPK49 looked the same as the older MPCs with the grey pads and the MPK249 looks like its got the exact same pads as the MPX And MPC Key 37. Even though they are decades apart they apear to be the exact same parts. I did a vid claiming that I believe Akai is just using the same exact components for all new devices using bulk stock parts used across the entire InMusic brands. Basically thats the Reason they keep releasing the exaxt same old decade or more old technology and all they do is give it a different shell. The MPC key 61 looks Like it has an entire MPC studio to inside it with no difference just cut paste inside unchanged and then put the MPK keys and buttons on there and that was it.

    • @PetrolMediaInc
      @PetrolMediaInc  2 місяці тому

      @@HOLLASOUNDS if you check on mpcstuff.com’s site, they have all the pads cataloged. It shows if certain pads are compatible with other devices. I thought the same thing for several models, but the actual pad sheet or I should say the sensors may be slightly different, which was the case with certain ones that didn’t fit with other units even though they look exactly the same.

      @poweredbyWatts 3 місяці тому +1

      That’s unfortunate. I picked mine up in July. None of these internet issues.
      I’ve heard the patches are the same as those in the Mini Ak. Since I already have that unit, I’ve only ever used the synth to dial in my own patches.

      @PetrolMediaInc  4 місяці тому

      @@PetrolMediaInc ah. nothing about the sound or feel of them then?

    • @PetrolMediaInc
      @PetrolMediaInc  4 місяці тому

      @@mattyg499 The sound of the machines really didn't matter to me much since I knew I was going to manipulate it once it was in Pro Tools or Logic. The feel in the sense of how it functions in my workflow, I prefer the older ones if that makes sense? I grew up on the 2000xl so anything that works like it is comfortable. The new MPC 2 software, because I only have Studio 2, is frustrating to deal with, but honestly, it's only because I haven't really sat with it. About a week ago I forced myself to only use Studio 2 and I do like the new stuff, but I still prefer the old ones because I'm faster and it's more intuitive, to me. If I were starting out today I would buy the Live 2, a Studio 2, or the MPC X. They are amazing, and gotta figure out how to bring it into my workflow. Remember I use Logic Pro X as my main everything so with the new MPC software bordering on DAW levels, I have to push myself to learn yet another DAW.... I hope that answers it and makes sense?

      @@rook9309 it’s better in the sense that I have more inputs and I can connect more devices because over the next few months. I’m planning to get a couple of pieces of equipment that I really wanted to get back and I have so many auxiliary inputs that I can route the audio in multiple ways. The big six is good, but not truly scalable, and since I have the SSL 12 and an additional eight input via Adat I pretty much have everything the big six offers
