This was an Opie and Anthony comedy tour with multiple comedians, and the crowd had booed pretty much everybody off stage, including recognized greats, like Dom Irrera. So Bill just decided to let them have it.
Camden, NJ (~5 miles from Philly) 2006 Bill followed Dom Irrera (born in *Philadelphia* , 1948), one of the nicest guys in the business, who just got booed off the stage. Bill was fed up with these @$$holes, and, the rest is history.
They were disrespectful to all the comedians. He came out pissed that they'd booed and insulted comedians that he looked up to and considered friends. So when he started getting booed, he unloaded 🤣. Moral of the story : don't mess with Bill's friends.
I love that because I live in a little island a few neighborhoods big, size-wise we're not even 10% of the mainland town. And we got more than one bridge.
I think Bob Saget was back stage and basically received Bill when he came off stage. Bill thought he ruined his career but Bob Saget said something along the lines, "you just made history" lol.
He was actually apologizing to Saget because he was the one who wanted to bring Bill on the tour, so Bill was apologizing & Bob said "Why are you apologizing? You just became a legend!"
I heard that If you ask Bill Burr what time it is, he always says, 'Two seconds till.' After you ask, 'Two seconds to what?' he roundhouse kicks you in the face.
That fact that they slowly go from booing him to giving him a standing ovation is just gold. Not many people could do that, especially in a city like Philly after you basically shit all over everything they love lol.
Nah, I'm from Philly and we love getting roasted. Especially if we deserve it. Just have to be fresh with what you say and not rehash old stuff like, "You boo'd Santa Claus!"
The way I heard it, he was the final act of a long night of comedy. Multiple comedians had been up and a large SECTION of the crowd had managed to boo ALL of them off stage. He came on and refused to play their game and just let loose. What you may have noticed is that the boo's all but disappeared by the time he was done.
The crowd previously bood a comedian named Dom Irrera off the stage earlier in the show. Dom is pretty much widely regarded as one of the nicest guys in the industry, and Bill took that particularly personal. Plus the show was like 6 hours long, outdoors, in the summer. Everyone was over it, and Bill spoke for just about everyone here.
The worst part about it was that Dom is from Philly, so this was supposed to be a homecoming for him. But, man, when Bill roasted the crowd it was pure genius.
Dom irrera? That racist who lost his job for being racist against black women? What a surprise that people bood him lol. He was cancelled before cancel culture even existed thats how racist that guy was. Weird that bill reveres such a racist like that when hes married to a black woman and has a daughter.
This is perfectly explaining the situation. Dom is also considered to be a great comedian by Bill so I think he was even MORE mad disrespected Dom at his own homecoming show. I think this rant is the peak of Bill's rage which is some of the funniest shit ive ever heard him say.
Bob Saget was backstage and in awe, claiming it was one of the greatest moments in comedy history. Bill just roasted the hell out of Philly for acting like Philly does. (The "No-respect" line was already done)
Apparently the fans were booing everyone at the particular show and bill got pissed off when it was his turn to be bood and just “attacked everything they hold sacred” for his entire show 🤣 n yeah he got out safe
He made his career with this. Bob Sagat met him backstage, with Bill lamenting, "well, that's it, it's been a nice run." Sagat replied, "Bill, do you know what you just did? Do you have any idea? You're going to be a legend!" This has proved to be true.
I cry laughing every time I hear this one. Bill got heckled and booed, then he dropped it into a complete roast on everything Philly. This was the ballziest and most brutal roasts I've seen to an audience... absolutely hilarious! 🤣
Burr's rant at this show was absolutely epic. The comment about the Rocky statue is brilliant. And yeah, by the end, after verbally abusing them for more than 10 minutes, he actually gets applause from them. Just awesome.
6:39 Bill Burr has told a story about how he was performing in philly again a couple years after this rant and tried selling t shirts making a joke about the rant, but the whole crowd had little to no recollection of it. Boos and animosity like that is just another day for philly
Yep, same thing happened with Gritty. When he first came out he was being nice and everyone hated him, then he was like "Like I give a fuck what you clowns think" and suddenly became Philly's guy.
This is truly a classic bit of standup. He literally stripped the crowd of any self worth for being rude to the comedians on stage before him. I haven't laughed this hard at a standup since.., well never. 😅
This had me 🤣 rolling! They deserved it! 😂❤👍 They bood every comedian off stage before Bill got up there and just started using insults on the crowd! He really gets hot under the collar when people mess with his friends! 😂 You go Bill, he was trying to get them riled up and they started laughing and that's when Bill said, oh no, 10 more minutes! ❤ Respect! Thank you for sharing your reactions with us and the world! Love from Oklahoma. 😊
The "oh congratulations" after the new computer bit actually made me sound like water sprinkler...the timing of you saying that and the positivity in your voice with all thr negativity led up to thwt was brilliant 🤣 well played
As someone who was born in Philadelphia, I can say in no uncertain terms that we have a weird appreciation for talking shit, and fearless people. Thats our bread and butter.
There's a video somewhere on the UA-cams where Bill tells the whole story about this. Long story short: it was a really long show, with a whole lot of comedians featured, the crowd turned hostile, and most of the comedians just had to handle it however they could. Bill decided to swing back. He said one of his big regrets from the rant was that he somehow forgot to mention the 76'ers.
I love this 😆😆 The crowd was just being dicks. They bood the first guy. Were getting more drunk and annoying because it was a day long event, but not crazy with a few after him. Then gave Dom Irrara shit who’s a legend so Bill went up next and he said right when he got up there he decided to just go off on them. Thought about just doing his jokes and ignoring them but it’s not what he’s made of 😆 he’s also a musical and sports historian so he knew exactly how to shit on their city and make them feel it.
This rant is epic; I use to tour with a small metal band, and I can vouch, Philly has some characters for sure. If I'm not mistaken, the crowd was just giving it everyone who took the stage, and Bill just came out firing.
When we look back on the moment Bill Burr crossed into greatness, this was the Genesis. It’s even better that all we have is this same clip everyone has shared. Bill was in a moment and created it, just literally killed
The standing ovation told everything that needed to be said. BURR did that in Philly and totally won against a savage city to perform or play sports in. The fans don't play about shit there and if you don't like rude then piss off lol.. I'm from Mississippi, everyone is nice here.
This is why i love bill, he basically defended the entirety of the comedians on the tour with this one, that crowd was horrible and booed everyone off stage
I have a weird feeling he somehow earned some respect from the crowd of jackasses that weren't treating this Comedy Festival seriously. He may be going off on everybody but for the first time for the whole show he has people's attention. Some kind of Genius
Told you to check the backstory beforehand. Thing is the crowd boo'd at everyone before him. But eventually (as you heard) they started applauding Bill's insults. If that isn't a testament to greatness, I don't know what is.
The story as I recall; For some reason there was a 12 ~ 24 hour parade of comedians doing their 15 minutes a piece and after about 9 hours of this, the crowd just started booing everyone so when it was Bill's turn to go on, no one wanted to hear his jokes or anyone else's so he just went in on them instead. I think Bob Saget went on after him because he was back stage and watching this go down.
The "black people you love so much" line isn't him saying that's how black people are. It's him saying that's how they perceive black people to be and he hopes they run into that specific person specifically.
I was there for this and was dying the whole time. These shows were so long with many comics and people got pretty lit. The crowd wanted Jim Norton to come out and were getting restless.
I was there. It was part of the opie and anthony virus theater. The line up was incredible. It was burr, patrice o Neal, Tracy Morgan, Dom ierrea, Jim Norton, rich vos, Bob Saget. A couple of the comics got booed. They started to boo Bill and you saw what happened
Bro the gun two to the head set up had the greatest unscripted finish to a joke of all time. The man says he’s wants to blow all their shit back and the janitor comes to clean up the three lbs of brains from the entire crowd. Bro I was dead first time I heard that. ☠️☠️☠️
I was here. Opie and Anthony had been running a commercial for a month that used a joked he told at the event. Philly reacted. HE WON. Being from jersey it was the greatest thing I ever saw happen live.
This was the Opie and Anthony "traveling virus" tour. They were at an outdoor venue and said right there that was their first mistake..and he said they started booing the very 1st comics off the stage and Burrs set wasn't for few hours so he thought to hell with it, ditched all his material and in his words "attacked everything that they loved" And to answer your question yes he recently a few years ago went back to perform in Philly and he said it actually caught him off guard how many people either didn't care or completely forgot this happened
Love it. Hahahahaaha! What an awful crowd. Good for him! This is suck a wonderful moment in comedy! I am so glad he stuck up for those people who were on tour with him. They must have felt 10 feet tall after this. What an honor! Glad he didn't this!!!!!
The crowd was trashing the comedians for sport. Bill took control, turned the table on the audience, and heckled them unmercifully. Bill Burr & Patrice O'Neal; best friends and both great comedians.
This was an Opie and Anthony comedy tour with multiple comedians, and the crowd had booed pretty much everybody off stage, including recognized greats, like Dom Irrera. So Bill just decided to let them have it.
yup. travelling virus show. it had many great comedians that weren't so famous back then.
And hearing him speak about it after... just hilarious! Lol.
This is what I came to write. The Legend of Billy Burr was born on this day.
Camden, NJ
(~5 miles from Philly)
2006
Bill followed Dom Irrera (born in *Philadelphia* , 1948), one of the nicest guys in the business, who just got booed off the stage. Bill was fed up with these @$$holes, and, the rest is history.
Which is funny as he'd already been around for decades. He's on Chappelle show and before ...
They were disrespectful to all the comedians. He came out pissed that they'd booed and insulted comedians that he looked up to and considered friends. So when he started getting booed, he unloaded 🤣. Moral of the story : don't mess with Bill's friends.
Right
Bill was mad that they made fun of that radio host who called black women "nappy headed hos"
@@nullakjg767 that was Don Imus that said that not Dom Irrera. What are you talking about?
Yup
I have even more respect for him now
“One bridge having ass town” gets me every time…
I love that because I live in a little island a few neighborhoods big, size-wise we're not even 10% of the mainland town. And we got more than one bridge.
@@SaganTheKhajiit Thing is, Philly has multiple bridges but it’s still a funny line 😄
It’s a good insult tbh my small town has several decent sized bridges
I think Bob Saget was back stage and basically received Bill when he came off stage. Bill thought he ruined his career but Bob Saget said something along the lines, "you just made history" lol.
I heard that Since 1940, the year Bill Burr was born, joke related deaths have increased 13,000 percent.
He was actually apologizing to Saget because he was the one who wanted to bring Bill on the tour, so Bill was apologizing & Bob said "Why are you apologizing? You just became a legend!"
My favorite part of the Philly Rant is Bill’s one and only regret about it… that he forgot to roast the 76ers 😂
He didn’t mention them, and that’s the joke itself 😂
It's my only regret too....I kept waiting and never happened
I heard that If you ask Bill Burr what time it is, he always says, 'Two seconds till.' After you ask, 'Two seconds to what?' he roundhouse kicks you in the face.
😂😂😂
I'm from Pittsburgh, so this is basically a symphony for my ears and heart.
I heard Bill Burr counted to infinity... twice.
Definitely a bridge superiority there against the 1 bridge havers lol
That fact that they slowly go from booing him to giving him a standing ovation is just gold. Not many people could do that, especially in a city like Philly after you basically shit all over everything they love lol.
Nah, I'm from Philly and we love getting roasted. Especially if we deserve it. Just have to be fresh with what you say and not rehash old stuff like, "You boo'd Santa Claus!"
Like the Soviets cheering for Rocky in the 12th round 😂
I heard that If Bill Burr were to travel to an alternate dimension in which there was another Bill and they both fought, they would both win.
Wasnt the final act, people had to go on after bill did this.
They didn't boo all of them just a couple. Bill talked about it after the event.
he wasnt the final act. he went on hours earlier. he went back up after the final act got booed off
The crowd had just basically ignored and talked through every comedian before him. So when he went on he was so angry this happened
Not just ignored and talked, were rude af and booed several comedians before he got on stage
I wouldn't want to do my set to people so damn rude.
Good for him!!!!
he wasnt the final act. he went on hours earlier. he went back up after the final act got booed off
This is wrong
The crowd previously bood a comedian named Dom Irrera off the stage earlier in the show. Dom is pretty much widely regarded as one of the nicest guys in the industry, and Bill took that particularly personal. Plus the show was like 6 hours long, outdoors, in the summer. Everyone was over it, and Bill spoke for just about everyone here.

I think this rant is the peak of Bill's rage which is some of the funniest shit ive ever heard him say.
I heard that Bill Burr does not own a stove, oven or microwave, because revenge is a dish best served cold.
Bob Saget was backstage and in awe, claiming it was one of the greatest moments in comedy history. Bill just roasted the hell out of Philly for acting like Philly does. (The "No-respect" line was already done)
I heard Bill Burr recently had the idea to sell his pee as a canned beverage. It’s now called Red Bull.
Apparently the fans were booing everyone at the particular show and bill got pissed off when it was his turn to be bood and just “attacked everything they hold sacred” for his entire show 🤣 n yeah he got out safe
They booed a legendary comedian before him and it pissed him off
he wasnt the final act. he went on hours earlier. he went back up after the final act got booed off
Did you know that If you want a list of Bill Burr's enemies, just check the extinct species list.
Reading why he did this made me love Bill even more 🤣
Historic rant. This surely made Bill a legend within the comedy community.
This and Ricky Gervais hosting the 2020 Golden Globes are two of my favorite moments of comedy this century so far.
He made his career with this. Bob Sagat met him backstage, with Bill lamenting, "well, that's it, it's been a nice run." Sagat replied, "Bill, do you know what you just did? Do you have any idea? You're going to be a legend!" This has proved to be true.

I love this rant so much. Fucking legendary.
Burr's rant at this show was absolutely epic. The comment about the Rocky statue is brilliant. And yeah, by the end, after verbally abusing them for more than 10 minutes, he actually gets applause from them. Just awesome.
Did you know that Bill Burr drinks napalm to fight his heartburn.
6:39 Bill Burr has told a story about how he was performing in philly again a couple years after this rant and tried selling t shirts making a joke about the rant, but the whole crowd had little to no recollection of it. Boos and animosity like that is just another day for philly
I do love that the more he unloads on them, the more they come around to loving it. He stood his ground and they respected it.
I heard Once a cobra bit Bill Burr's leg. After five days of excruciating pain, the cobra died.
This is how you relate to Philly. They're made of cheese steak and negativity. If you multiply the negative you get a positive
Accurate.
I heard that Bill Burr does not sleep. He waits.
I really thought you reacted to this already! So here for this. He is an absolute LEGEND for this 🔥
One of the all time greatest sets ever delivered. I’ve seen it 4 or 5 times and laughed myself dizzy every time 😂😂
This had me 🤣 rolling!
I heard that Bill Burr can have both feet on the ground and kick butt at the same time.
This was so great. He discusses this event after. They booed everyone so he said fuck it. Lol. He ripped into them, and he ended up getting laughs.
This is the set that mad Burr a legend.
What an absolute legendary set. You'll never see this happen again
The "oh congratulations" after the new computer bit actually made me sound like water sprinkler...the timing of you saying that and the positivity in your voice with all thr negativity led up to thwt was brilliant 🤣 well played
"And I WILL be selling cds after this"
As someone who was born in Philadelphia, I can say in no uncertain terms that we have a weird appreciation for talking shit, and fearless people. Thats our bread and butter.
I heard The chief export of Bill Burr is pain.
They kept booing him so he’d keep going. He’s a legend.
I heard Bill Burr's calendar goes straight from March 31st to April 2nd, because no one fools Bill Burr.
One of the most legendary comedy moments of all time
I love this 😆😆 The crowd was just being dicks.
Of course BB admitted later that he should’ve dissed the 76ers, their NBA team. BB said it’s the only regret he had about this Rant. 🤣
I love that you can legitimately hear people in the crowd laughing at all the burns!
Bill Burr became a legend that night. He and Dave Chapelle are the most important comedians in this century.
This rant is epic; I use to tour with a small metal band, and I can vouch, Philly has some characters for sure. If I'm not mistaken, the crowd was just giving it everyone who took the stage, and Bill just came out firing.
I watched Bill in Nashville 3 days ago,and all I have to say is...Bill for president!!
And funnily enough, I’ve got a good amount of friends from Philly, and they absolutely love Bill specifically for this moment right here.
They gave him a standing ovation at the end 😂
When we look back on the moment Bill Burr crossed into greatness, this was the Genesis. It’s even better that all we have is this same clip everyone has shared. Bill was in a moment and created it, just literally killed
The standing ovation told everything that needed to be said. BURR did that in Philly and totally won against a savage city to perform or play sports in. The fans don't play about shit there and if you don't like rude then piss off lol.. I'm from Mississippi, everyone is nice here.
As a black person from Philly, That's a joke right??
"You guys were here". Hidden gem there at the end.
This is why i love bill, he basically defended the entirety of the comedians on the tour with this one, that crowd was horrible and booed everyone off stage
I heard Bill Burr does not use spell check. If he happens to misspell a word, Oxford will change the spelling.
This is the moment Bill Burr became great. Its not often you can pinpoint an exact show where that happens.
Oh yeah Bill went off on these people. It was absolutely amazing. He’s a damn legend for this.
This might be the most beautiful thing ever recorded.
This is the BEST!!! So Raw!!!
This might be the best reaction I've seen to this clip 😂😂
I have a weird feeling he somehow earned some respect from the crowd of jackasses that weren't treating this Comedy Festival seriously. He may be going off on everybody but for the first time for the whole show he has people's attention. Some kind of Genius
This will never get old.
This is at least the 3rd time I've heard this. I'm glad you got to hear it too. Still a great video! Thank you, sir.
The best part is that the more he tore the city down, the more pissed he got, the more they actually respected him and laughed at themselves. Weird
Burr later said that his only regret about this rant was that he forgot to mention the Sixers
Told you to check the backstory beforehand.
Thing is the crowd boo'd at everyone before him. But eventually (as you heard) they started applauding Bill's insults. If that isn't a testament to greatness, I don't know what is.
"Alright you guys were here, thank you very much"
I'll love him forever for this. 😂
Came across this video and had to watch your reaction again, this is pure comedy gold. Thanks for the reaction, you’re amazing man!
He was angry at the rude crowd, so he refused to put up with it. He got a standing ovation after this! Legendary.
And Will Smith melted over a GI Jane joke lol
I saw an interview with Bill Burr where he said his only regret about this night was that he forgot to insult the 76ers!😹😹😹
Good job Bill! Absolutely loved it.
The crowd was treating every comic behind him like crap all night. So he decided to come out and just lay into them for a whole set
I cannot believe he NONSTOP berrated an ENTIRE GOD DAMN CITY.
He done multiple shows in Philly after this, and Philly actually loves him 😂
The "black people you love so much" line isn't him saying that's how black people are. It's him saying that's how they perceive black people to be and he hopes they run into that specific person specifically.
Right on. Thanks for sharing.
He was the only one that stood up to the crowd. They booed multiple comedians off the stage before him. When they tried it on him this was the result.
One of the finest moments of live comedy to ever occur.
I was there for this and was dying the whole time. These shows were so long with many comics and people got pretty lit. The crowd wanted Jim Norton to come out and were getting restless.
This is the most amazing piece of comedy that has ever happened.
Bill Burr...The Man....the Myth...the LEGEND!
Rip Patrice and Bob. Patrice the greatest of all time.
The Philly Truth Session !!!!!
this reaction is priceless :D thank you
This is what made him a legend
Bro the gun two to the head set up had the greatest unscripted finish to a joke of all time. The man says he’s wants to blow all their shit back and the janitor comes to clean up the three lbs of brains from the entire crowd. Bro I was dead first time I heard that. ☠️☠️☠️
How you fuck i read this comment at the same time he says it
Absolutely love your commentary on your videos! Keep up the amazing work!
I was here. Opie and Anthony had been running a commercial for a month that used a joked he told at the event. Philly reacted. HE WON. Being from jersey it was the greatest thing I ever saw happen live.
Best part of this is he managed to win over a bunch of the crowd with this rant.
The fact that you kept pausing the video to say something and then simply couldn't find the words which absolutely hilarious!
Love the Philly rant best ever he goes off on them
Extra impressive considering so much of it was ad-libbed. 👍
“One bridge having, piece of shit city” is probably my favorite line out of this.
"One bridge havin" is my favorite line 🤣🤣🤣
Bill burr is a legend 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
He made Don Rickels proud.
This was the Opie and Anthony "traveling virus" tour. They were at an outdoor venue and said right there that was their first mistake..and he said they started booing the very 1st comics off the stage and Burrs set wasn't for few hours so he thought to hell with it, ditched all his material and in his words "attacked everything that they loved"
And to answer your question yes he recently a few years ago went back to perform in Philly and he said it actually caught him off guard how many people either didn't care or completely forgot this happened
The crowed had been booing comedians all night so bill let them have it and got a standing ovation at the end
I Love bill burr he os awesomeness in this .. Haha
Love it. Hahahahaaha! What an awful crowd. Good for him! This is suck a wonderful moment in comedy! I am so glad he stuck up for those people who were on tour with him. They must have felt 10 feet tall after this. What an honor! Glad he didn't this!!!!!
He got a standing ovation at the end too.
God I love Bill Burr
Normal comedians: *Roast one person*
Bill Burr: *Spit roasts an entire city of people*
The crowd was trashing the comedians for sport. Bill took control, turned the table on the audience, and heckled them unmercifully. Bill Burr & Patrice O'Neal; best friends and both great comedians.
OK, after listening to five or six of these, you convinced me. New subscriber.
This was an epic episode.
