I have a rule that I don't swing until I have 1 strike. It avoids that swing at anything mentality and it forces good pitches to hit.

I end up hitting the pitchers pitch that way. I don't like intentionally putting myself in that position. But that's what's unique about hitting approaches, is it isn't a one size fits all kind of deal. What works for one person may not jive with another.

On that ball at 6:30. Just my opinion.. You were way early on this pitch. Anytime you have a lefty throwing breaking stuff that's cutting into you.. Wait an extra second on those pitches making sure they're around the shoulder area in height if your plan is to cap the oppo side of the IF.
The first thing I noticed (defensively) was the SS and 3B are playing back anticipating his stuff breaking into the hands for hard ground balls. I'd take a 1/2 step up and a 1/2 step out (off the plate) make him throw outside to cut into the plate and then bust that middle ball up the gut of the field if it's high enough.

So the fact that you go up to bat with an idea of what it is you are wanting to do and it is within your capabilities puts you ahead of a lot of folks. Always be a thinker!

At minimum, a person NEEDS to have a list of do’s and don’ts for their ABs.
Poor situational hitting can absolutely kill a team

I can relate (Matt will tell you too) in the first game in Columbia a few weeks back.. I hit a 4 footer for a single. Rick (from the other team) said with every AB of mine after that I'm hitting the ball further. LOL!! But hey.. Singles are singles right?
