  • 1995 Toyota 3.0 V6 (3vze). I disassembled the head, because of the cracks in between the valve seats. And there was only 30 lbs of compression on one of the cylinders. I lapped all the good valves in the old head, and bought one replacement valve. I checked the valve clearance and only needed to adjust one of the pucks, because the new valve was .013 taller than the others. I decided to lay the puck on the belt sander to take off the .010 - .013 it was over , it’s wasn’t the first time!!
It went together well with no leaks. Please hit the bell so you don’t miss out on the next part of this year old project.

Cool video brotha. I have never taken a head apart all the way, because I always take it to the machine shop. I love watching you do this stuff. Keep it up

Did you have to adjust your valves 150 miles or so again after fresh install and driving? I did everything you had to do decked heads new valve seats/guides/in&exh valves/properly adjust valves. I just now after about 150miles of driving on fresh top end can hear one of em too tight/light ticking. Can feel it right through valve covere

With that style, having the pucks to shim the lifters / tappers, no. There not “adjustable”. It’s possible that one of the lifters is starting to get weak, and if you didn’t install all new lifters, the. You may just have to live with the noise for a while, as long as it’s just a lifter noise and not a cam lobe flattening out (but that would be evident in the performance)

@@MechanicalTriage cyl#1 exhaust wiped out the cam lobe after 240k that’s why passenger side got a new cam…adjustable in the sense that you rotate cam completely off the lobe check clearance and take the puck out and either replace with correct size or grind down Toyota makes like 25 different sizes to achieve proper clearance ..I know plenty of guys who have had them ground down to proper size At Machine shop to reach proper clearance with no problem.

Valid point. I used a belt sander to grind one down on this rig.
I was just trying to point out, but forgot to add, that the lifters on this are hydraulic and not manually adjustable. And there shouldn’t be noise coming from them after 150 miles unless something was going wrong.
