Chuck, you are such an inspiration. I have about 30 lbs. to lose, so I watch your videos to see proof that if you can do it, I can do it! Sometimes I think, "How can I get through the day without having a little junk food?" All I have to do is watch one of your podcasts, and it sets me straight. Thank you so much! And your guests are amazing also.
If coffee is to be a main topic for a future video, please have some discussion about Dr. Esselstyn's warning about coffee causing reduced arterial blood flow soon after consuming, and causing dysfunction of the endothelium. The late Dr. McDougall admitted to some health benefits of coffee so long as it was paper filtered (prevents cholesterol increase), but also cautioned that coffee raises blood pressure, though he didn't state for how long or if regular coffee drinkers have blood pressure that has adapted to regular coffee drinking.
Victoria Sampson aka “The Functional Dentist“ is bringing up a new perspective on the topic: “Everyone’s caring for their Gut Microbiome while most forget about our Oral Microbiome.“ It would be an interesting thing to discuss with Dr. Bulsiewicz :) Especially since I noticed my dental health improved dramatically since I went (wfpb) vegan and am strictly nose-breathing, I am no longer plagued by cavities etc.
My dental health improved significantly with the wfpb lifestyle. I’m 59 and former smoker, hace all my teeth, healthy gums. Aiming for 100 with healthy mouth and natural teeth.
Alternative to psyllium that also contains a mix of soluble and insoluble fiber: chicory root. Yes, of coffee substitute fame (for which it is roasted). It contains inulin, pectin, cellulose and hemicellulose. Unfortunately, its extract (inulin) is easier to find, but it's a great and tasty alternative to psyllium if you can grow it or find it raw/whole (dried, whether ground or not).
I have IBS with diareha. I would have 6 to 10 episodes of diareha PER DAY! I have been on plant based eating for 5 days and my diareha is almost gone! Its amazing. Is this someting that will last?
I have never been to Taco Bell. And now, after hearing your story Chuck, I never will. I do go to a Mexican restaurant from time to time and have a veggie burrito. It is so good. I had a chance to have the same thing in Phoenix (I am in Calgary, AB) and it was made with lard and I couldn't eat it!
Great video! I have had major health issues and learning about and falling in love with my microbiome has been helping me make the changes I need to make. I love researching books on my mentors' shelves. I see both Dr. B.'s books and Plant You (I also own all 3) and Blue Zones. But what are the yellow and white ones on the left and the green one on the right?
A bodybuilder/gym owner I met said he ate 10,000 calories per day. When I was younger I used to eat about 3,000 calories per day. 40 years later I haven't checked, but definitely eat fewer calories on whole food plant based than processed foods. Nothing keeps the blood sugar/insulin going like flavored potato chip (most flavored chip have sugar), cakes, cookies and breads with sugars.
I worked at taco bell in 1987-88 and making the re fried beans it was a bunch of real beans, half a pound of lard and half a pound of salt. I don't know if they have changed their recipe to accommodate vegans.
Hello Chuck, what happens when you’re allergic to hemp seed, flaxseeds and other seeds in a recipe on a plant-based diet what can be substituted for those types of seeds?
Sunflower seeds (if you can do it?) or my favorite: Cashews! :) Typically, if a recipe calls for hemp seeds, it’s to get this creamy texture which can also be achieved with soaked-and-then-blended cashews :) Depending on the recipe you can also use white beans to get that creaminess :)
Love to balance out my high protein diet backyard eggs and today ocean perch with this guy's solid advice with good organic or farm fresh food tomatoes lightly cooked in organic coconut oil with fresh caynne pepper and baja gold salt and organic pepper and a dash of turmeric beneficial this guy's great fast food is garbage
I'm convinced people can only get fat if they eat highly processed food or drink beverages with calories. I have struggled with obesity my whole life and noticed when I lived in countries where the diet was fresh like fruit, veggies beans, rice, etc. I was about 100 pounds thinner. Who can't eat a 12oz bag/box of highly processed food in one sitting? It is "air" food that doesn't fill me up. 12 ounces homecooked beans & rice? I can't eat that much. Processed food is pure evil. It is everywhere, addictive, and health destroying.
Other plant food doctors have no problem with coffee in moderation and point out health benefits, brewing methods to avoid, etc. Dr. Greger for example. Dr. Esselstyn says no coffee and likes to point out a European small study that showed artery blood flow reduced soon after consuming caffeine. So there's a grey area for sure.
@@pete49327 Yeah I'm open to different perspectives but I'm missing the grey area on this one. Dr. Robynne Chutkan made a strong argument regarding coffee's impact on the biome and body as a whole. Worth checking out. Seach: "Robynne Chutkan Coffee"
Maybe some people will benefit from avoiding coffee but many more will probably benefit from drinking coffee. Coffee is associated with lower diabetes and lower cancer rates.
Those lion carnivores have the better tasting diet perhaps, but do they have the healthiest. I doubt it , I believe the better your diet tastes the worse it is. Hard work stomaching raw broccoli etc, pays dividends. Those lion people are crazy
I'm always amazed when Chuck talks about his previous fast food diet. Hats off to Chuck for kicking the habit! You're an inspiration!

Sitting all day kills add to the eating of processed foods. Walking every day and eating right saves lives.

Absolutely check out Dr. B’s book, he touches on soo many gut diseases that heal with a whole-foods plant-based diet :)
I sure hope it lasts for you. 🤞

Wow, I have to tell you we went to the fair and vendors actually selling a powder form to give pets to help their the micro biome
Chuck! You ate ALL that food in one day? Shocking! So glad you're WFPB now :)
Yes!!! I want a comic book! 😀🤩😍
Hello Chack, I am happy for your new weight. 🎉. For Dr. B SHANA TOVA.
I enjoy you work on this channel. ❤❤❤

I hope that isn't the person's real eyeball because retinas have unique patterns which is why id can be done by retinal scanning.

Hemp protein powder is interesting, I add it to wheat gluten for a veg burger, or with cornbread
Caffeine is a drug
Have you guys looked into a Taco Bell sponsorship? 😅

What would you say to the carnivore community that says plants are not necessary or even unhealthy.

Love Dr. B, but he manufactured good news about a bad habit with regard to drinking coffee.
