A rant about COVIDIOTS | Is society doomed?

- This jumbled rant was after weeks of covidiots regurgitating the same talking points over and over across all my social media. Guys, I’m over it. The Wisconsin Supreme Court overturned governor Tony Ever’s stay at home order, so the covidiots have been unleashed into society (they’ve mostly been gathering in bars).
I needed to rant about covidiots because they have become a danger to public health and safety. They refuse to wear masks, refuse to listen to CDC guidelines, scientists, doctors, and are spreading lies, misinformation, and coronavirus. Their ignorance and brazen disregard for human life is more than I can take. Thanks for listening.

Also, I needed this after coming across someone who complained that they shut down our state when ONLY 10,000 people died from COVID
It’s insane!
I got a clip of a woman on a bullhorn at one of the protests saying "you're stupid if you think you can go to Walmart and not get the virus, but you can go to a bar and get it" ... suuuure... first, nobody's saying that, but secondly, I'm happy to go to your bar when people are drinking their beer through the mask and the happy hour is a deal on tv dinners and toilet paper. 😏 Thanks, Becca!

Thank you for this rant! And I totally agree with your disgust at so many people. I went to the Milwaukee lakefront last Friday in the hopes of taking a walk, but I had to turn back. I saw at least 70 people there, and I had enough fingers to count how many were wearing masks. Sights like that make me lose a lot of hope of avoiding or mitigating a second wave of COVID.
SFOSam That’s so scary! I’ve noticed that too where in the rare occasions I have to go out somewhere no one is wearing a mask except me. It’s really terrifying how a lot of people aren’t taking this seriously. Thank you so much for watching! I hope you’re able to stay as safe as you can!

I don’t argue with those in denial, because there’s no way I can have a civil conversation with them. I hate name calling.

Yikes, In Australia we're just past the peak of our clear second wave by the looks of the data and we're still appalled by the total of 350'ish people who've died so far since January. Can't imagine being on track to 300,000 deaths by December 1 as predicted in the US and gaving a Government response as inept as the Trump or Boris Johnson UK admin. If that happened here, the entire Government would be dissolved as it has been once before when faced with ineptitude (on a far lesser scale) and likely a Federal inquiry and charges. We've had the occasional cretin trying to break Corona restrictions or the odd Karen popping up in some store somewhere but generally not too bad. Also seriously worried about the general trend of the species. Stay safe.
It’s definitely terrifying to see that in America we have somehow politicized a pandemic and have made mask wearing a political debate. It’s insane. I agree that the numbers in America with the cases and deaths is out of control, and I feel like it’s only going to get worse. Our Congress couldn’t decide on a stimulus bill to help the millions of unemployed people or the millions on the verge of eviction and now Congress went on a month-long vacation without coming to a decision on a bill to have a Senate vote on.

Thank you. I, too, am worried about society. I'd say the solution is to educate people better but these same people may be opposed to education and be offended by the idea that we'd want to indoctrinate their children.
Thank you so much for watching! It can definitely be frustrating when we try to educate and correct misinformation but then the people who are believing the misinformation don't usually seem to want to hear it.
If you carry a gun everywhere so that you could hypothetically stop a mass shooting, but you won’t wear a mask anywhere to stop pandemic from spreading, your perceived goal is to feel like a badass, not to protect the people around you. This also resonates with everything else you’re speaking of. In the end, we have a bunch of insecure people who live in a bubble and their bubble they cherish so much is about to be popped. They’re scared of change. Simple ass people. Also I’m crushing on you.

That's no invalidation of your rant; I shared it on Twitter.
But this first of many tangible pandemics is truly a tip of the iceberg.
It's the intangible pandemic which is the cause of the shitstorms yet to come, that I am concerned about.
And as I am as likely to die as any other person who has ventured out into the world, my concerns are unlikely to be adequately voiced.
It's not merely society which is doomed; it's all of macroscopic Earthly life.

Hmm. I tried to engage you in rational conversation about this (and not arguing any of the points you’re making here) and you refused to even talk about it. You replied “Stop it” and then deleted the original tweet I guess. 🤷🏾♂️ I’m apparently a “Covidiot”. I’ve been a leftist since I was in my 20’s (which was 20 years ago) so I’m not the stereotypical Trumpite you’re ranting about here. My issue with your stance is that you have made up your mind and have accepted as gospel all of the stuff being fed to you by official sources. You’ve accepted the assumption that COVID-19 is some highly-lethal virus that is wiping out large swaths of those who get it, that lockdown is the best way to handle viral spread, and that people and institutions like the WHO, Trump’s task force, Fauci, the CDC, etc., are impartial players in this affair who only want to protect human life and make things safe for us. Some of the people you’re casually dismissing don’t accept these assumptions and are actively challenging them as trustworthy players in this affair, but you refuse to have your assumptions questions (and anyone who does is crazy, a conspiracy theorist, right-winger, etc). I was a big Bernie fan until he surrendered to the Establishment Dems, and I wholeheartedly support M4A, the GND, taxing the rich, slashing the military budget by 75%, ending all wars, raising the minimum wage to at least $15/hr, etc., but I also believe official institutions that pretend to help us are gaslighting the hell out of us and using the resulting FEAR to their benefit and our detriment. Your basic assumptions are being challenged and you can’t handle it, so the result is anger - in much the same way people react if you challenge their religious faith. There are people who have learned things about this that you don’t know, so rejecting it outright is not a good look.
You’re rejecting scientific and pandemic experts and the facts that have shown this virus is wildly contagious, and much more contagious than the flu. Nearly 100,000 people have died in America, and to dismiss or minimize that is wrong. We are at the point where this isn’t a “debate.” People who disagree with facts and science are spreading misinformation, lies, and that is a danger to public health and safety.
