Peterbilt, Kenworth, Volvo, Freightliner, International, Mack
When you are parked for a long time it's recommended to increase your idle
Increases oil pressure and your heater and air conditioning function better too

We did this in the marine corps with humvees. Usually ran a generator to the humvee while running fire missions but if the generator isn’t up at the moment you need the RPMs up for the alternator to pump out enough juice so all the computers and radios don’t crash because it idling normally is under voltage. The cruise control is a rod you pull or push in which is a hand accelerator pedal that stays wherever you leave it.

I have a 2011 386 with Cummins engine. This method doesn’t for me but what does work is the following steps.
Turn your cruise control off
Press the resume button a couple of times and it will rev up to 800RPM
That is what works on my truck but could be different on others.

For people that don’t know this is so oil gets to the top of the heads.
And it keeps you from wet stacking over long periods of time too

We use the same method in a truck with a pto on it. If we want to get a little more pump out of the pump thats exactly how we do it. Sometimes its better to use the low speed on the pump with higher rpms then it is to use high speed at a normal idle. Its the same exact method though. No different

i have a PTO on an INTERNATION 5900 and the cruise control method doesnt work do you have any other ideas?
@@chriselms6972 so it engages with no problem and just has no balls? Leaks, bad seals, dirty fluid, low fluid. Always check all that stuff too. Is two speed not hooked up right? I have seen that. Just running off of low. Why? Idk you got me. Is it manaul pto or automatic? I will wait to hear what say. Worst case I will ask one of the mechanics

Hey there, I can usually get most trucks to idle about 300 rpm higher than what they are set at idle. My trucks might be around 700 rpm, then I boost them up to 1,000 rpm for awhile...
