They created the pro controllers for both the wii and wii-u, for those who play ps3 and 360 and wanted to feel more comfortable playing hardcre games. The pro controller came with Monster hunter tri on wii because all previous games were on the ps2 and psp.
Great video phil! I'm really looking forward to seeing the next parts. I just hope youtube doesn't glitch out the sub boxes again. Also, Do you think you will start off playing Zombie-U?
when the 360 and ps3 controllers first came out (launch) they were way more than $50, so its just a launch thing. I saved 10% on all my games and accessories for games this month, so I'm happy.
Actually, Nintendo had more in mind the fact that Wii and Wii U is likely going to be in the living room due to its use for party games or exercise. It makes some sense, but it is a lesser functionality that it seems. It also depends on the set up of where you live as well, as if you live in a smaller apartment, then you're going to be using the living room for the Wii, due to the space it gives.
Definitely, seeing as Nintendo has a good track record with making functional d-pads, this controller good very well be the go to sidescroller/shmup controller.
Nah, in Asia, most family only have 1 TV, games, media and pretty much everything are done on it. The only thing family member individually have their own unit is a computer/laptops. 90% of this type of family I mentioned barely uses the TV as most entertainment and done via their computer
if this console came out about six years ago it would have been the no.1 console without any doubt but still...Its refreshing to have a new console and this should fire up the industry once more.
When will I ever get a proper unboxing video? Where the person unboxing jizzes all over the box, themselves, the walls, the products inside, and in every room possible.
The modern day controllers that we use today stem from the SNES controller. Nintendo made the modern day controller design, just without sticks, and the side buttons.
Has an epic console Unboxing; doesn't use the intro thinking it might be too long; ends up being just as long, if not shorter than normal game unboxings Not that I care too much, I just find that hilarious. XD
If I remember correctly DSP, when the playstation and the xbox first came out the controllers were as much as a game was. I might be wrong but i kind of remember that.
hey, with all the overheating issues the 360 had with the earlier versions, I don't blame Nintendo having so many vents. The potential downside of that is that owners will have to put twice the effort to keep dust from getting inside the console.
Well while that TV thing is actually true here in the US, in Japan, not to much, its kinda uncommon or almost rare for some families with kids with they're own rooms to have they're own "big screen HD tv" they probably do have a tv in they're room but its like small, bulky standard def model, as opposed to the living room tv being the bigger HD one. I know I'm kinda stereotyping that, not saying every family is like that in Japan, but essentially that is why that feature is there. Least I think
I haven't watched a DSP video for a long time now, just haven't had time. Last time I remember maybe 2 or 3 figurines on his counter. Now there seem to be a hundred.
To be fair the 360 controller is the most ergonomic gaming controller you can get, so if Nintendo were to design a controller with comfort in mind, they would more or less get the same shape as the 360 controller.
It would be perfect if they could put a control pad that isn't attrocious on the 360 pad. The analog requires too much movement to get from one direction to another for serious 2D action games.
Yasha: How dare you! Our master is 16 years old! Furthermore, he has a bit too many computers so that he and his parents could enjoy themselves! Me: That's enough, Yasha. You have said too much. Yasha: Y-yes, master.
So? In E3 it's hectic, he most likely just blurted out whatever came to his mind, now that he's in a calmer environment, he can make a much more rational judgment, which he did.
Man, the Wii U gamepad is not that heavy lol. Plus, I agree that it is a little big in size, but when I first saw the gamepad up close, the size was pretty much what I expected.
Keep in mind that those controllers are mandatory to play the system and they come standard with a console purchase; an accessory that comes on the side shouldn't cost that much.
The D-Pad on the Pro feels better, but the right stick is going to take some getting used to. That said, the GamePad feels GREAT in the hands. I've not actually played mine yet (I've been updating -_-) but just messing around with the buttons feels very good, and despite the size (or perhaps due to it) it feels very comfortable and natural to hold.
Phil, Just got a wii u and even though the tv feature where you put the game onto the controller is actually pretty nice in my opinion. If i'm tired of sitting and just want to walk around my house and play, its actually nice.
The PS3's "Ultimate Gaming Controller" actually has the exac same design, thumbsticks and all, as the Xbox 360 controller. Only difference is the names of the face buttons.
I hate how everyone thinks that the pro controller looks like the Xbox 360 controller, yet no one noticed the Xbox 360 controller looks EXACTLY like the original GameCube controller. -.-
Um...according to amazon, the PS3 controller is originally 54$ and the 360 is 49$. Obviously there are discounts of a couple of bucks to each but those are the original prices. So I don't see the Wii U Pro Controller as an expensive one contrary to what Phil says.
Seeing Phil hyped for the Wii U gets me hyped to watch him fuck around with the Wii U
When the Wiimote came out, it was 50. The ps3 and xbox 360 controllers are more expensive than that even now.
Also, Do you think you will start off playing Zombie-U?
i think he needs to start making unboxing videos on his coffee table from now on, he really has no room on that counter.
when the 360 and ps3 controllers first came out (launch) they were way more than $50, so its just a launch thing. I saved 10% on all my games and accessories for games this month, so I'm happy.

LOL I love how Phil inadvertently called Europe idiots with that long pause between Nintendo and Europe.
DSP logic: Kids don't play games on the same TV as their parents use because every kid has is own TV because it's not the 80's
Nah, in Asia, most family only have 1 TV, games, media and pretty much everything are done on it. The only thing family member individually have their own unit is a computer/laptops. 90% of this type of family I mentioned barely uses the TV as most entertainment and done via their computer

makes sense that it looks like a 360 controller, the pro controller on the wii was identical to the ps2 controller.
Good thing I had my Vita on my desk as I was watching this video so I could see a better comparison, damn that thing is big.
When will I ever get a proper unboxing video? Where the person unboxing jizzes all over the box, themselves, the walls, the products inside, and in every room possible.
Exciting, its like xmas! Will be interesting to hear DSP's verdict on ZombiU - reviews are fairly split.
The Onlive home console also came with a HDMI cable.
The modern day controllers that we use today stem from the SNES controller. Nintendo made the modern day controller design, just without sticks, and the side buttons.
The weight is distributed differently though a larger object with feel heavier than an object with the same mass but smaller.
I was able to get mine on Sunday at the PX on Fort Bragg and loving it all.
Has an epic console Unboxing; doesn't use the intro thinking it might be too long; ends up being just as long, if not shorter than normal game unboxings
Not that I care too much, I just find that hilarious. XD
If I remember correctly DSP, when the playstation and the xbox first came out the controllers were as much as a game was. I might be wrong but i kind of remember that.
That's up to the publishers, but since the both the 360 and PS3 has online passes, then i'm sure the Wii U would as well.
I like how everyone smashes the original wii. Third party companies created a wii adapter that upscales it to 720p
hey, with all the overheating issues the 360 had with the earlier versions, I don't blame Nintendo having so many vents. The potential downside of that is that owners will have to put twice the effort to keep dust from getting inside the console.
NOW YOU'RE PLAYING WITH POWER~!
He says it before he even plays games on it. In the voice of the Smash Bros. announcer, A NEW RECORD! XD
The older 360 controllers maybe. The newer ones use a lighter plastic on the back part.
Actually, they took the design from the Classic Controller Pro and added more comfortable grips
The onlive console comes with an HDMI cable
Well while that TV thing is actually true here in the US, in Japan, not to much, its kinda uncommon or almost rare for some families with kids with they're own rooms to have they're own "big screen HD tv" they probably do have a tv in they're room but its like small, bulky standard def model, as opposed to the living room tv being the bigger HD one.

I wish I would have gotten a Wii U now, I regret not getting it on launch day.
in UK, the deluxe includes the sensor, the basic doesn't
If Phil has to use the Wii-U pad to play hardcore games, he's gonna have arms like a fucking lumberjack.
That zombie u game is hard at first but when u get the controls right it's easy
I haven't watched a DSP video for a long time now, just haven't had time. Last time I remember maybe 2 or 3 figurines on his counter. Now there seem to be a hundred.
To be fair the 360 controller is the most ergonomic gaming controller you can get, so if Nintendo were to design a controller with comfort in mind, they would more or less get the same shape as the 360 controller.
They didn't include the update because they wanted to make sure that the programming isn't buggy.
I like how the thing he threw knocked over "10 things" and then 15 secs later it knocked down "literally 100 things" lol Phil.
It would be perfect if they could put a control pad that isn't attrocious on the 360 pad. The analog requires too much movement to get from one direction to another for serious 2D action games.
pretty sure you can do a lot more than just transfer game to pad with it
Yasha: How dare you! Our master is 16 years old! Furthermore, he has a bit too many computers so that he and his parents could enjoy themselves!
Me: That's enough, Yasha. You have said too much.
Yasha: Y-yes, master.
Ranting with DSP. Season 17. Out now.
B-but Phil, with the TV function, you can play two consoles at once!
So? In E3 it's hectic, he most likely just blurted out whatever came to his mind, now that he's in a calmer environment, he can make a much more rational judgment, which he did.
Feels like christmas!
I bet dsp made rambo hook the console up while he sat on the couch :)
Phil, you would be suprised how many families have only 1 tv...
They could do some fucking awesome shit with Fallout where the huge gamepad is your Pip-Boy. Or Elder Scrolls where thats your character menu.
I think he meant to say it all at once, like "Nintendo Europe" and not "Nintendo, Europe" like he was blaming Nintendo's Europe branch of the company.
phil technically wasn't the onlive console your first console unboxing.
I have a Wii but Im planing to buy a WiiU.. but Im still gonna wait for some more games and some opinions of gamers that bought the console right now.
Man, the Wii U gamepad is not that heavy lol. Plus, I agree that it is a little big in size, but when I first saw the gamepad up close, the size was pretty much what I expected.
I can finally get my system back. I have been stuck with my brothers 360 and can't really play none of the fun games on nintendo I wanted to get.
12:10 Actually Phil, me and my parents only share one TV for the rest of our time spent at our house.
yea, it is backwards compatible (though there is no gamecube compatibility!)
my god they threw every single gimmic they had at this thing
nice isaac statue
yay phil and rambo doing NSMBWU
i gotta feeling that Nintendo is gonna release a smaller game pad eventually.
Wow. So cool. Can't wait for ZombiU
Keep in mind that those controllers are mandatory to play the system and they come standard with a console purchase; an accessory that comes on the side shouldn't cost that much.
9:36 I call it Airey Pocket sealing technology.
wait so not only do almost all games have day 1 patches, even consoles have them too?!
Nintendo did drop ball with the dpad on the 3DS though
I think so. The funny thing is that when I got my PS3 I didn't have an HD TV so I lost the cable lol
8:45 LOL why did this make me laugh so hard.
@Thomas Bastion that is not an excuse AT ALL
The ZL, ZR buttons should work with the WWE attack counters.
Its true!! I had to buy a new controller and it costed me 65 dollars for the wireless controller with the charger which is ridiculous
Small mistake Phil: The European WII U comes with the Sensor Bar it is the Japanese Version that doesnt come with it.
I'm actually quite interested in what this piece of hardware is capable of.
No, its an upgraded Classic controller
The D-Pad on the Pro feels better, but the right stick is going to take some getting used to.
That said, the GamePad feels GREAT in the hands. I've not actually played mine yet (I've been updating -_-) but just messing around with the buttons feels very good, and despite the size (or perhaps due to it) it feels very comfortable and natural to hold.
probably not...cuz it wasn't a MAJOR console release made by one of the big 3 companies.
i live in one of the most expensive countries in the world and the highest price tag ive found for a ps3 controller is 400kr ($40)
Phil, Just got a wii u and even though the tv feature where you put the game onto the controller is actually pretty nice in my opinion. If i'm tired of sitting and just want to walk around my house and play, its actually nice.
so basically its a ds but your tv is the top screen! i want it
I do that all the time when I use my ps3. Im so used to xbox button layout.
cant wait to get it
The PS3's "Ultimate Gaming Controller" actually has the exac same design, thumbsticks and all, as the Xbox 360 controller. Only difference is the names of the face buttons.
He was talking about the general shape, which is something Microsoft can actually sue for.
You shoulda got zombiu set
I hate how everyone thinks that the pro controller looks like the Xbox 360 controller, yet no one noticed the Xbox 360 controller looks EXACTLY like the original GameCube controller. -.-
Got this and my first update is not loading and I've been sitting for 30 minutes waiting for the update
Do we actually no longer need a TV to play with the WII U can the pad actually play the games on its own ?
phil, controllers here in canada are 59.99 for 360/ps3
Wow only 16mins? I would've thought it would be 25-30mins with Phil's record lol.
You got it wrong dude. The Pro controller is an updated GameCube controller, so is the 360 controller.
Um...according to amazon, the PS3 controller is originally 54$ and the 360 is 49$. Obviously there are discounts of a couple of bucks to each but those are the original prices. So I don't see the Wii U Pro Controller as an expensive one contrary to what Phil says.
I though Phil was going to toss the wii u controler!
epic mickey o boy cant wait to see that one
actually a brand new PS3 dualshock would cost around 50 to 60 USD, so no the price on the pro controller isnt bullshit, PS3 controller price is.
Phil, youve already heard the bone headed announcement with ps vita. Dont u remember about that memory card
Is that a drake action figure next to the other boxed action firgue in the box?
xbox never came with hdmi cable wii u is the first console to have one crazy
first console for me to i use a lot of handhelds
I didn't know the 360 had a gamepad, oh wait it doesn't, that's a controller
i forgot to pre-order iv been calling evrey gamestop and walmart around me and there all out of stock damn
YEAHHHHH!!!!
DSP on John Rambo explore the Wii U
We have been waiting for this. :)
