You were saying - in the beginning - how there is an emotional backstory. If you notice , there’s not actually an emotional backstory for Mi Hwan. There is one for everybody else, Ji Hyuk Jiwon Sumin but not him. But in that same token, you also realise that he doesn’t need one, as you see his mother. Personally, I think his mother has a lot to do with how he behaves with women how he wants to be the more dominant one. also quite dumb when they praise him for something. Because his mother is quite the dominant one and maybe growing up he’s seen how the dynamic has played out between her and his dad, and he’s probably said to himself don’t want a woman like that, but at the same time his mother has drummed into him about family background and obedience and behaviour.

With family dynamics like Min-Hwan’s, even if the mom controls everything on the day to day, at the end of the day, they still have to defer to their husband. She does everything for his dad & does all the discipline, but his dad is still the head of the household. So Min-Hwan *does* want someone like his mom who will do everything for him like she does with her husband, even if she’s the loudest one. And of course, by nature of actually handling all the day to day of the household, he will naturally get annoyed by her nagging, but she enables him. I know because I know families with this exact dynamic, except the sons obviously don’t turn out as evil as Min-Hwan.
Watching Lee Yi Kyung (Min Hwan) in this role is crazy. This was a very different performance from the very hilarious comedic performance he gave in Welcome to Waikiki.
some behind the scene about sumin's actress! idk how accurate the translations were in the clips but yeah! the actors usually appear in shows to promote their drama! sumin appeared alongside eunho in knowing bros! sumin's actress shared how she started cutting off friends and families to immerse in the role of sumin! she still couldn't fathom sumin's psychology so she met up with a psychological therapist to understand more about sumin's character! she also chose her outfits for the drama! she chose brighter clothes for the beginning of the drama cause that's how sumin was at the beginning,she wanted that attention but by the end of the drama she started wearing more black clothes! she also shared how she pitched in the idea of filming her left side more in some clips for parts where she was being sweet to jiwon and her right side more in some for when she showed her evil side. according to her,her left side appears to be much more softer compared to her right!
If you go back to the beginning of series, the writers already spoiled MinHwan's death when Sumin smacked him with the lunch tray, it was a great foreshadowing
You can see all the pieces of the puzzle come together From our Female Lead making sure the fake friend see her trade on the company computer so the fake friend can be more alluring to her crappy ex with the incentive to Marry her, which in it self staters the ball rolling for a more Epic Revenge for our FL, so she can move both traitors together for a final showdown. Now we have the fake friend lose and the ex-fiancé to contend with it’s all going to rap up nicely for Lovely Romance 🥰 for our FL & ML. I fished reading the Manhwa…I cried happy tears after all the heart aches and for the relief of a happy ending 💖

I hope yall react to some of Sumin’s actress’ previous shows, like Oh! Youngshim (main character) or Fight For My Way (One of the main but supporting characters). She’s soooo different in those shows but she still gives that crazy energy, just not in an evil way. It’s absolutely crazy how wide her range is.
I think you can summarise Oh Yura - to use her fish analogy - as a person who was a big fish in a small pond. In whatever country she came back from. But now she’s come back, she’s a big fish in a bigger pond.. misunderstanding / miscalculating that these people she’s calling shrimps are bigger fishes, if not sharks swimming out here.
