I love the Williams guard variation of this where you weave the top arm behind the knee and create an extremely strong Frame against the opponents face
I’m sorry if this is a dumb question, I’m a white belt with SO MUCH to learn, but could we be able to go for a regular triangle using the same technique? Like without rolling?
@@christophermoralesacuna9913 Good luck, I've been very succesful with it - as always, the more you know and apply the details of the move, the more effective it is.
mounted triangles are just better, if you go for a regular triangle you end up with the arm on the wrong side. there is all sorts of option from there but none of them are as ideal as a already sunk mounted triangle. john could tell you better than i could. the hard part for me is getiing them to roll over. im ending up in a wack almost armbar instead
If you go for a regular triangle and fail, they can stack or pull out and reset (maybe pass). If you go for a mounted triangle and you fail, you end up on top. (Possibly getting 2 points) Remember gravity is always a force working against you in guard. That can always be minimized when you get on top (to either assist in a pin or assist in the submission you're going for)

I think John is the spiritual reincarnation of Bruce Lee and Hugh Hefner. What a legend
Jajajajaja... Nice!
Calm down mate. Yes he's a great teacher, just don't make his head any bigger or his instructionals will get even MORE expensive!! Haha.
Jigoro Cano maybe
@@7Phoenix1 lmao man I feel like John deserves ALL his coins yo.
Hugh Hefner??....he was just a high class pimp.

Great move!
I want to know who gave this a thumbs down so I can try this on them
Atos crew is my best guess
Great
What an impressive dome.
Lol even this uke is now training at b-team. Can see him on their last rolling videos teaching a class.
Slick
Damn

You can. You’ve isolated their right arm with the clamp, all you need to do it clear their left arm (grab their wrist).
Yes, it's a great entry for regular triangles, Danaher covers it on his "Go Further Faster - Closed Guard" dvd.
@@matu4251 Awesome! Thank you, I’ll try it tonight at the gym 👀
@@Koko161081 sweet! I’ll try to get that DVD 👌🏽

I feel like John was pressured, maybe even threatened to keep this vid under 20 mins.
I feel cheated and emotionally submitted 😞
Yo, catch the juji gatame before triangle, Osss
That’s what I was thinking. But who am I to argue with JD?
I don't get why is it better then just a regular triangle

His manner of speaking feels me like I forced to learn bjj
thts British english my freind, thts the effect its suppose to have
This is an extremely dangerous move, your training partner had no arm to support himself, his neck has potential risk to break.
It always has potential risk to break
Danaher is the man. It’s too bad he has to sell his videos with crooks like fanatics. Once you buy too many videos, they will close your account.
Heard that happens if they suspect someone is copping and reselling videos. Can you confirm that is true?
So if you’re a loyal customer they’ll eventually refuse to sell to you??? This belief is almost QAnon level boneheadedness.
@@drjimjam1112 I can confirm that isn’t how they do it. I was not copying or reselling.
