Fantastic Vid. Excellent details on a great set up and finish. Personally, I prefer setting up and attacking this from rear entry now rather than standard rear chokes as defending standard rear chokes have become too common. Keep the Great techniques and videos coming.
Why does John Danaher bring his knee up farther than he needs to at 1:54 when he's locking up the triangle? He does it twice in this video so I assume there's a reason for it.
My favourite entry is when the opponent clinches from half guard to single leg while on bottom( just one leg) then if I push myself upwards I am going to land on his shoulders and I will be able to catch the senkaku.( Basically from top position, just land one his shoulder on cross from the leg and you will always hit senkaku)
What happens when the opponent forces his way back to turtle? I'm a smaller guy and doubt that keeping my weight over him is enough to keep his hip to the ground, and the typical reaction in these situations seems to be forcing their way back to turtle. Do I "just" have to be quick enough or does hooking their lower arm actually force them back down? Or do I need to move to a new position at that point?
I play it the other side but going off Johns side your left elbow can tuck into the their rib and pull back after you’ve grabbed the hand I find that keeps a downward force on them. When you turn to get the right leg over their arm your elbow can really pull them into the space you’ve just left, again countering their move to turtle. Waffled on but hopefully helps 😂
Have you ever trained with someone of equal skill level to you but much stronger? I think if you do, you will find that their arms resisting your arms might be effective, but their arms resisting your legs is not quite as effective. Generally speaking, the rear naked choke is easier and more effective, but there are always exceptions.
This is the quickest explanation I've ever seen from Danaher. 3 times in 4 mins....its usually 1 in 30mins!
lol
This is only a small part of his instructional thats why. This isnt the whole thing lol
Always watch danaher in 1.5x
I am really appreciate they eloquent and purple description of the specific body mechanics. There aren’t enough people with that gifting.
2:11 I thought Mr Danaher slapped his arse, OMEGALOL
John Danaher has a whole DVD on the Rear Triangle that I have. DVD 6 of 8 of the Triangle series. Ushiro Sankaku
Wow, pretty good Crucifix entry.
I’ll settle just for that!!
💯

This is pure Gold

At 3:56 he doesn't lift the knee. I'm guessing the 1st 2 are exaggerated versions so it's clear to beginners what he's doing.
A good piece of advice if John danaher is teaching a certain way you should probably do it that way
The rear or back triangle is one of my favorite techniques. Ushiro Sankaku.
Amazing. I will be trying this in class soon.
Could you please clarify step 37?
Keir Robertson i respect you
@K R 🤣 Bury me I’m dead
37 likes impressive
Which sub-step?
🍻🤣
Greatest man alive!
Marvelous stuff! From the turtle position, love it! Cheers from southern killafornia!
Seems like a high number of steps but when you work them in order you‘ll get such a nice flow out of it and it gets easy to apply
Great details on the triangle set up
I lost it when he said “figure of fouuuur”
😆😆😆
ALL ESPECT for such detail explanation method! "Fascinante"!
John Danaher awesome lesson as allways
Awesome
Complete BJJ wizard 😳🤙
Every detail counts, what does not count, Danaher does not mention.
Sankaku - use the names, gotta love john
How do you actually finish the strangle? The guy doesn't tap so clearly there's some extra motion or step to finishing it.
these are all great, cheers!

U can also use if they go back to turtle to pin their leg with urs and get ur hook in and go for back
Can you do the variation of this finish for multiple opponents?
He's a wizard
He could be giving me instructions on how to make coffee with a Keurig and I’d feel like I was soaking up profound wisdom. 🧘♂️
Brilliant. Oss!
In what situation would you need to do this? Wouldn't RNC be easier to get and more effective in pretty much every situation?
rnc was right there many times. you'd never see marcelo going through all this

It's not a difficult thing
🤯
Came after Amanda Nunes submitted Megan Anderson with reverse triangle and armbar 🙂
Such a filthy submission
My god i think you are a bjj god mr d
Don’t ever say “mr d” again
I love John Danaher, but the way he talks is soo pretentious that I just wanna put the video on mute.
It's just the accent.
