This is an Artist Series Baldwin made in the U.S.A. when Baldwin was still on the top of their game. The piano is in virtually new condition since it was a treasured furniture piece, barely played, and incredibly well cared for.
The model 226 is the same scale design as the model R with the addition of the hand-carved case with exotic wood veneers. So it is a great instrument as well as being a stunning piece of furniture.
This particular Baldwin has an unusually clear, singing tone in the treble which is evocative of the finest European pianos, yet with the warmth of the great American pianos which is the trademark of the great Baldwin pianos from years past..
Having a Baldwin from this period is such a rare find since it was at the tail end of Baldwin piano manufacturing in this country. This is a world-class piano in phenomenal condition.
Really excellent, Robert, and a lovely example of the R226. I'm so very blessed to have one from the 50s that was also a furniture piece, a Louis XIV case.
There is NOTHING like the full, rich, beautiful sound of a Baldwin (unless it's a M & H)! Excellent playing, as usual, maestro!
I never realized the opening jingle was played live, everytime!
You may notice that the end of the jingle is different every time as well. Also, it's played at the beginning and the end of every video!
I could listen to you play all day long.
I love Baldwin, grew up learning on an Acrosonic. So there's a true tone, genuineness about their sound that i don't hear in other makes. It's like being 'home.' And the treble is so clear, and this great piece (the Scarlatti) shows it off.
Well Robert, unless you upgraded your microphone setup, to my ear that Baldwin is one of the best sounding pianos you've shown in awhile.
Equal to Mason and Hamlin and superior to many of the Steinways you've had on IMHO.
It has such a big sound for a smaller grand. It's a steal at the price you have it on for.
I am using the same recording setup. It is not only a great example of a US made Artist Series Baldwin, but it is in virtually new condition. That helps too!

Artist diplomas are something offered by some conservatories in place of degrees. They generally requires all the same course load except without academic classes.
