Hi, I also have scoliosis but I have diagnosed about 5 years ago. Your curve might not be considered severe enough to have a brace. I had a brace for about 1-2 years they were painful and uncomfortable. I looked forward for my rests but this wasn't long as I had to wear it for 20 hours a day. I think my curve was around 27 degrees when the doctors found it, I was 9 years old at the time. My case was perfect for the brace treatment, they luckily found it early enough that I wouldn’t have to worry about surgery IF I wore the brace enough. Which I did, cause I was so terrified of a surgery XD And yes, it was an annoying thing in the 3 years I spent wearing it, but I’m so incredibly glad I did. Wide belted dress pants and 1 piece bathing suit that sits very high on the hips is a good style too. I like the fit of some mens sweaters better too because they are a bit longer in the waist. You will find your groove. Its a challenge at first, but everybody out there scoliosis or not has things they want to hide about their bodies. I've had Ideopathic Scoliosis for 35 years. Diagnosed around 10 or 11 years old. My thoughts now on the cause lean towards a problem with the gut microbiome absorption of nutrients and the consequent effects being there are hormonal imbalances leading to a deformity in growth. Kids with hip dysplasia also may have these imbalances. It can run in families because others may have this inability to absorb nutrients adequately as well. Constipation might be a symptom of scoliosis worth looking into. Scoliosis does hurt, I dunno why this video says it doesn't. Also, any amount of torsion on your ribcage can affect your heart and lung capacity. I can't handle endurance sports. I have trouble standing for a long time and it is particularly painful around the time of menstruation. Hip and knee issues as also a result of being out of alignment. Best advice: (I opted to not get surgery and used a night brace instead while still growing) keep very flexible, stay fit because any extra weight is so painful on joints even the 10 lbs of covid weight I gained, exercise hips legs and pelvis. Look into Scroth method of exercise to strengthen the parts of your curves that are hard to stretch properly. I have a lot of trouble with core strengthening exercises because it throws my back into spasms. Be conscious of your posture, neck and head back not forward, butt tucked under to engage abs. Chiropractic was not much relief for me but you might have better results.
You will get it!! Don’t give up!! When you speak to the judge, be completely honest about the PAIN and how it affects your life/work and be humble. Good luck!!!
I was recently diagnosed with mild scoliosis since I was a child my shoulders were cracking all the time but my parents didn't appoint meetings with a doctor, I've read somewhere that mild scoliosis can be treated even at a rate of 100%. Is it true?
The last time a consult to a specialist, he told me that the curve will not grow.. And the pain is just all in my mind.. I have mild case but now im lying here and can't stand..
I just got diagnosed with it, and I have to go in for an X-ray next week to figure out how bad it is- note, I’m only 13. I don’t know much about scoliosis, so if anyone has any advice...
Hello! I found out I had scoliosis at your age. Personally, my doctor told me that this condition could result from bad posture or genetics. At your age, you're still growing, so it is possible for the curve to get better or worse until your bones stop growing. Personally, I got a back brace, which helped me A LOT. Also, you might want to talk to your parents about schroth physiotherapy. I did it for 3 years and my curve got better. With the back brace and schroth physiotherapy, my curve went from 26-27 degrees to 20-21 degrees in 3 years. I also have an ergonomic chair, which helps me sit long hours without my back feeling uncomfortable and helps with my sitting posture.
I have Scoliosis but mine isn’t noticeable but for some reason one of my legs are growing a little faster than the other but its not that noticeable but sometimes ppl from school ask me why I got on a small bus and why I don’t wear a backpack it kinda of annoys me but from all the comments and the video cheered me up God bless you all!❤️❤️❤️
It should have been mentioned, that the reason of scoliosis is due to muscular imbalance. Shortly speaking there are hundreds of muscles holding your spine and if a muscle on one side is less/more flexible than the same muscle located on opposite side, you get a curved spine (it is like one muscle is pulling your spine the way too strong and thus logically the spine isn't straight anymore)

I'm completely sure I have this. I have noticeably uneven hip and waist that's been around for over a year and can feel my rib hump a bit :(. Parents NEVER take me to the doctor for anything, so what if this gets worse?
Yes! Go see a doctor please!!! It's so important because it could get worse. Please, please speak to your parents about this. If you don't do anything, it could get worse, but if you get treatment, it may get a little better and prevent it from getting worse.
I have had scoliosis since I was 6, and now I’m 13, 5 back braces in, and I really can’t have surgery cuz I have arthritis too, so that would doubly my recovery time. And I could probably never play soccer again. It’s just so flipping hard to wear it, it’s uncomfortable after long times, you can see it under my shirt, if I raise my hands or sit down. So I almost never wanna wear it in public, and at home I’m always bending down, or doing something or just forget to put it on. Im just extremely scared for surgery, and I’m starting to get close. I don’t think I would really ever recover, knowing that all the work that little me did, was all a waste. Im sorry but I literally type “scoliosis” just to find a video to rant on, so thanks for reading ❤️🩹

I think you really need to take an X-ray. I was diagnosed 3 years ago too. I'm 16 now.🥰I was diagnosed with 40 degrees, and my doctor said if I didn't discover that, I would probably need surgery and be suspended from school. ThankGod, my mom noticed that there was a rehab center from Germany that had braces for patients to wear. I mean you should pay some attention for this:)
Hey so i am 15 years old and i have a mild curve of about 11 to 20 degree and i feel no pain or uncomfortable at all. Should i still go and diagnose it? I don't want to...i am really afraid that it wud be costly cause my family's not doing quite well now. What shall i do?
Does anyone know if chiropractic treatment reversed it ? My chiropractor said that my scoliosis was mild so it was reversible ? Is this true ? Please help ?

Hi. My name is Muteb. I am a spine educator and I like this short video. I would like to ask your permission to show it to our patients and translate it to Arabic. Thank you
Hello Muteb. We can translate to Arabic and add closed captions to this video. This will take several weeks. Please email webmaster@childrenscolorado.org with your email address and we will notify you once the translation is ready to be viewed here on UA-cam.
Me with scoliosis: Is it good or is it bad?
Everyone who I ask: *Well yes, but actually no*
This is my new life😌
My curve was around 40 degrees but now it's 20. Wow. The brace isn't designed to straighten, but it did it alright.
How old are you when you start wearing the brace? Thanks.
Great educational video! May I ask whether I can use it in my primary school as an educational material?
I have it and I'm trying to get disability check for it.
You will get it!! Don’t give up!! When you speak to the judge, be completely honest about the PAIN and how it affects your life/work and be humble. Good luck!!!
I would not be able to tolerate the surgery pain as I am really sensitive to pain 😞
Hey, how are you doing now? Hope you’re feeling well.
I have a question. I know someone with scoliosis and does professional cheerleading. Can that make it worse at all or just not help it at all?
I have Scoliosis but mine isn’t noticeable but for some reason one of my legs are growing a little faster than the other but its not that noticeable but sometimes ppl from school ask me why I got on a small bus and why I don’t wear a backpack it kinda of annoys me but from all the comments and the video cheered me up God bless you all!❤️❤️❤️
Maybe your scoliosis is linked to a pelvis tilt. I have scoliosis caused by pelvic tilt and have one leg longer than the other
my sholders are uneven and my right hip pops out when walking (sometimes) but idk what to think
Ummm how about seeing a doctor!
@@littlepinktiger3891 what's the doctor will do for you ....
odessa you lfmao See A Doctor Praying For You 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾❤️❤️❤️
I only have a 37° degree curve and I get excruciating pain in my hips and lower back area from being uneven
i have this , i have back pain sometimes , and i wear a plastic brace , to like not make my curve bigger
I don't have it but I'm just sorry for you and it makes me scared that one day I'll get it.
Please tell me how you can get diagnosed with it
Growth spurt
Kyyy some people are being with or it starts moving when they growth spurt happens
Thanks for information
Hello sir, im a physical therapist from Turkey and i work with only scoliosis patients. i liked your youtube video What is scoliosis? Hi! I have scoliosis, and schroth physiotherapy helped me to reduce my curve! It could be helpful for your daughter. I also have an ergonomic chair, which helps me with my posture when I sit.
can a person with a mild scoliosis and can lift heavy stuff can work in a factory ?
i had a surgery for it
What degree is yours??
I was diagnosed with scoliosis last year and I haven't had any pain.
Good if you don't correct it as you get older it will start as you become a adult
Lisbet R. I have pain, but I have minor scoliosis?
I can't barley feel pain on my left side of my stomach
I have scoliosis but the doctors don't know why and how it was caused (idiopathic) and im getting surgery for it soon!
ZoomerKitty101 just found I have mild scoliosis
I meant I just found out
Have you gone through the surgery?
Idk if I have it and I’m scared of I do, bc I feel like when I’m walking squint or it’s just in my head, is there anyway I could straighten my spin at home if I do have it bc I don’t wanna involve a doctor bc I’m to scared to
Please, please consult a doctor!!! It's so important because it could get worse if you don't do anything. This happened to me and I only found out I had scoliosis a bit late. However, after getting treatment, my scoliosis is better!
Im 13 and im scared of my choliosis becoming more serious its already pretty serious and i havent had my groth spert yet
I have scoliosis too. I found it 6 years ago but until now I can't afford my treatment cause we don't have money.
ayumii alquiza 😢
yall i have a brace and i want to heal so bad but its uncomfy to me i like to sleep a good type of way like without any problems im always like why me but hey only options i have is praying or getting surgery. BTW DO THEY PUT U TO SLEEP DURING SURGERY??
i don’t know if i have it cuz like my mom my grandma and my sister have it and im my spine is always sore and painful but im wondering if its just the woman in my family
I have this btw who do you know how many degrees it is?
Your doctor should tell you after you get x-ray.
I have 5 degrees
I'm completely sure I have this. I have noticeably uneven hip and waist that's been around for over a year and can feel my rib hump a bit :(. Parents NEVER take me to the doctor for anything, so what if this gets worse?
Please!!! Go to the doctor as soon as possible!!!
Greater than 70° ? And it can affect your breathing ? Should it be less than 70 ?
I was tested yesterday by the spine program I have a 15 degree curve in my spine, my right shoulder blade is out of place and I have a hump back and yes I have back pain

Do you experience vertigo?
Time to start...
THE CURVE WARS!
Rules: Reply to my comment the degrees of the curve in your spine, the person with the worst curve wins. I'll start: 82
bro yours is almost double mine wtf how are u alive ur back is almost horizontal
I’m 3 years post op :) I was 98 degrees
HOLY........ Im at 82 I thought that was bad! I'm glad youre fine now!
How old are when u found out u have scoliosis? How many years tho did it take to cure it?
I dont think i have this as none of my parts are uneven but my left chest is a little protruding than my right side and also there is no pain
I am diagnosed with scoliosis for 3 years now(I'm 15). My dad never lets me see my back and never takes me to a doctor despite me asking him to. i don't know how bad my curve is or what shape it is but my shoulders have a 3sm height difference now.
Nice explanation
Hey so i am 15 years old and i have a mild curve of about 11 to 20 degree and i feel no pain or uncomfortable at all. Should i still go and diagnose it? I don't want to...i am really afraid that it wud be costly cause my family's not doing quite well now. What shall i do?
Yikes. My angle is at 71 degrees and u have to get surgury. I am absolutely terrified
Does anyone know if chiropractic treatment reversed it ? My chiropractor said that my scoliosis was mild so it was reversible ? Is this true ? Please help ?

My mum has scoliosis Iv got uneven rips uneven hips and those bones that stick out of your back really stick out should I go get cheak Ed out
Definitely.
Is it uncomfortable? Does it hurt?
It can hurt and be uncomfortable
Is there a difference between having it from birth (or childhood) and having it due to an injury?
I for exemple had an injury to my back and pelvis causing a noticable pelvic tilt and mild scoliosis. I have pain in shoulder back hip knee ankle and even a little bit in elbows. I also have pain in my trapezius muscle.
Is it normal that a mild scoliosis + pelvis tilt causes this pain? Cause what I'm hearing is mild scoliosis doesn't really cause pain
There is a different actually. Doctors need to decide how to do the surgery depend on your situation.
i hate scoliosis , it ruins my life :'(
I have it to just try to ignore it and the pain
@@lizdionise8382 I fight against it ,, I do special exercises just for scoliosis , I really believe that my spine will be straight one day or if it's not , at least it wont be in a bad condition ( you should not ignore it its gets worse )
I hate it too, totally ruins ur life completely.

I’m 13, and I just had an X-ray and I’m about to find out if I have scoliosis in a day or two. My chiropractor says I have some signs of scoliosis but he says it nth that can’t be cured. I’m ok with all this
its been 2 years, what happened with the xrays? hoping you dont have scoliosis!
I have it and it didn't cause pain until after I had my daughter in my early 40s. I have pain between my shoulders and my lower back because my alignment is all out of whack and I live an active lifestyle. I have a farm and horses and I struggle to do my chores. I wear orthotics, I do yoga, inversion table, chiro, physical therapy and acupuncture. Wish I could fix this.

Does anyone have any tips for me? I have to wear a brace every night but I haven't worn it for awhile because I have asthma and I struggle to breathe. Does anyone know how to make it so I can have more air?
Rose Fox I recommend a breathing machine that you can use at night.
I have it I had a 62 degree turn and they did an operation and it went down to 5 degrees plus your wrong by saying we don’t know how it happens the reason I have it is because had an undeveloped lung and my spine was turn the right because there was the lung to keep the spine in place
the said usually they don't know why
It does cause back pain
