Four high school kids discover an old video game console and are drawn into the game's jungle setting, literally becoming the adult avatars they chose. What they discover is that you don't just play Jumanji - you must survive it. To beat the game and return to the real world, they'll have to go on the most dangerous adventure of their lives, discover what Alan Parrish left 20 years ago, and change the way they think about themselves - or they'll be stuck in the game forever.

You will always be remembered as a legend.
In the first Jumanji, the reason why Alan and Sarah going back to being kids altered Judy and Peter's lives is because knowing who they were, they actually sought out their parents to hire their dad and prevent their deaths. Alex going back to the 90s didn't affect the main kids lives at all.
That could be it or maybe because as a team they (the 5 in this movie) beat Jumanji where as Judy and Peter never beat Jumanji and Alan did. It leaves a question about Sarah though. She didn't beat it, but maybe because she was in Alan's life as a kid she got to remember it. I really like your thought on it. It makes a lot of sense (more than my thoughts) because Judy and Peter weren't troubled (I mean dealing with the death of their parents) kids after Alan and Sarah saved their parents from dying. Their life was altered as you said for the better. This is definitely one of those makes you think questions about the sequel compared to the original and possibly maybe there are multiple answers or maybe just one.
Exactly,this is the main reason this movie disappointed me and I refused to watch the sequel...when they finished the game they should have gone back to the '90s when Alex started the game and the main kids should have NEVER played and become friends in the 1st place!!!
@@Nicamon How'd you know that? For all we know, Alex could've thrown the game in the dumpster, someone finds it, donates it to the school, and the events still happen as we saw.

He took the game to the school himself so that the kids would find it in the future.
@@oliviarogers2808 WHY would he do any of those things?!?The kids from the 1860 buried the game hoping no one else ever finds it,Alan threw it away for the same reason...NO JUMANJI PLAYER would *WANT* other people to find that cursed game,unless (s)he's incredibly sadistic!X-[
Also,even if that was the case,the events still couldn't happen _exactly_ like in the movie because Alex wouldn't be in the Game anymore.
@@Nicamon The director said his idea is that Alex chose not to alter the kids lives because the game, while traumatizing, changed them for the better.
Fun fact plans for a jumanji sequel started in 1999 and the original plot was to involve the president of the United States finding jumanji in an antique store and playing the game with his kids and the president getting sucked into the game and the evil Vice President (planned to be played by Steve Buscemi) taking over the White House. In the game the president was supposed to team up with CGI animals voiced by people. The film was supposed to be released in Christmas 2000 but got canceled. Then in 2002 a new version of the sequel was pitched that would have included Robin Williams but sadly Robin declined to return
imo that original plot sounds pretty bad compared to how it is now, i can imagine the political jokes sprinkled in it, then again none of us ever saw what it would have been

Unlike many movies that are remade, this movie did beyond amazing well in theaters. Most of us die hard fans really were worried it was going to trash the series. This was a pleasant surprise. As is the next one. Have you seen Zathura? It is a indirect sequel to Jumanji, but wth a different board game. I can't recall if you watched it or not. It's still really good!
I think the reason why they remembered is because they started their own game. They weren't playing the game that somebody started years ago like in the first Jumanji movie. They just happened to meet Jonas' character there and teamed up with him to get out but if they never met him and finished THEIR game he would have still been stuck there. And maybe this is a difference in how the original game worked but remember the game CAN HAVE different rules now that it morphed into a video game. While some things will still work (calling out Jumanji's name to win after the challenge is completed) a lot of the things that applied to a board game wouldn't work here and vice versa.
I love the call back to the first movie it's very easy to miss when they speak about Allan Parrish
It's not easy to miss and *IT'S A PLOT HOLE!!!* When Alan finished the game he went back in time like he was NEVER in Jumanji,how is it possible that there are signs of him being there?!?!And EVEN if that was possible because Jumanji is another dimention that doesn't get affected by the time travel(which we can only assume since the film doesn't say it!),the main kids should have never played after they went back in time because the '90s kid should have hidden the game better or destroyed it,HOW IS IT POSSIBLE that after the time travel the main characters *still* did *the exact same things* they did in the 1st timeline?!?>:-[
this movie is an obvious sequel to the original 1995 one and you cannot convince me otherwise. i am a bit surprised that JV didn't catch the significance of the name "Alan parish".
Apart from the writing, there is at least one more reference to the original movie. The view from the Jaguar Head has the same patterns with the ways in the original Jumanji game
Jumanji welcome to the jungle and the original Jumanji maybe different, but both movies are very amazing.
The original"Jumanji"is amazing,this one I gave it a possibility watching the trailer but it was ultimately a supreme disappointed. It's not as deep as the original,it doesn't make you feel the same level of danger,since the game doesn't affect"the real world"but only the trapped players and,most importantly,has 2 huge plot-holes. 1st of all...how could have been signs of Alan being in Jumanji if when the game ended he went back in time _before_ he started to play?!?And even if we assume(because the movie doesn't say it)that Jumanji is in a different time dimention when the kids finished the videogame time should have gone back to when _the '90s kid_ was playing SO the main characters should have *never* begin to play in the 1st place and they shouldn't have become friends and instead at the end of the movie they still have ALL the memories of them playing.X-[
@@Nicamon Alex being in the game is best explained like a river splitting and reconverging, hus timeline split from the moment he started the game and he remembers both. And each older jumaji player can choose to alter the other players lives if they so wish. Alan and Judy stepped in to make the kids lives better, Alex left them be because they were better off after the game. I understand you didn't feel it was deep but I do think you may have let nostalgia cloud some of your judgement. The point of a sequel is to broaden the world built in the original and this movie did so in a way that was still refreshing enough to stand alone rather than rely on the first movie.

I guess if they manage to finish the Game whoever dies can come back,but...what if they don't? I only started to hate it *after* I saw it and mainly because of the plot hole and that has nothing to do with nostalgia. If the plot hole wasn't there I wouldn't have liked the new movie as much as the older one,but I wouldn't have *hated it* and I probably would have watched it more than once and I would SURELY have watched the sequel. But instead I didn't.

If you don't,the world(or at least the area in which people are playing)will be forever changed by the Game.With the _videogame_ only the gamers are affected,not the outside world. It's far less menacing. With the videogame what happens in the Game,stays in the Game,with the board game you can have people dying even if they're not playing at all!___!

Robin's character was in the game for 26 yrs... and he came out still acting like a kid. He ran around the house yelling for his parents.... and his nemesis in the game was a grown man (kinda like his Peter Pan character) so no. I don't think he felt the time go by

When they shared that akward kiss in the movie, you could hear everyone in the theater saying "Yuuuuck!" and "Ewww!" and other disgusted noises/sounds. lol
JV is definitely one of my top favorite reactors. I was too excited to see this. Hopefully I can react to something with him one day.
Also, did u miss the Alan Parrish reference or did the edit just cut that out? The only reason he felt a passage of time was because Alan (Robin's character), literally grew up within the game as opposed to Alex's character essentially being a skin for him. The time would move differently.

They did a good cast for Jumanji Welcome to the Jungle. Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillian, and Jack Black. Big stars from the early start of the 2000s around the time I was a kid.
Everyone so focused on the movie (which is amazing) but as a US teacher, I can’t get over the fact they make over $100K in Canada… 😂😂 Ours is like $30000-45000….

Im South African and work for a wildlife resurve and alot about what the movie says about the hippos are fake but they are still very dangerous and can actually bite a human half with one bite. Very good movie

I think that’s what made this movie with the fact that you had big-time actors playing opposite personality of what they are normally are. Also Jack Black as Bethany with all the awkward gender moments. LOL! I really recommend the movie Zathura; it’s an indirect sequel in which the game is set in outer space.

I also questioned the way the time travel worked in this movie, but people told me I was thinking too much about it and to just ignore it. I'm glad that someone else cares enough about films to notice what feels like a big inconsistency to me.
The only major issue I have with this movie is that Kevin Hart is just Kevin Hart. It doesn't even RESEMBLE the character outside the game.
Don't forget to do Zarhura!! That's also a jumanji film. It just doesn't tie in to these movies tho
