That system is slicker than cat poop on a linoleum floor. That's bound to help make your garden successful.
For one moment there when you were screwing the unit to the tap, I thought uh oh Sam’s been at the nail varnish again, then Angela pops up at the camera so danger averted whew
If you are on city water it is chlorinated and fluoridated Sam. It could affect certain strains of plants. Ask for a water report
We have a big box system that does not have all the bells and whistles but it waters when we need it. ESP important here in the dry state of Texas. It has made a huge difference in my garden. I actually have vegetables and I have already picked some tomatoes, cucumbers, potatoes, turnips, and green beans galore. I’m glad you invested in a system. It will be a Godsend for you.
You will get more consistent reading on temp and humidity if you put the sensors no more than 3 feet off the ground and out of direct sunlight.
That’s way cool 😎 You forgot the bloopers SAM!!
We have you beaten here in Mid Michigan has been dry for more than 22 days. Lordy, Lordy!
Sam you are so smart you would make a wonderful teacher yall place is getting so pretty I want to try raised beds next year my sister has cancer and I’m worried about her to to commit to it right now but I do pray God blessed it a hundred fold tyfs and hugs from the peach state of Georgia 🍑
NEW SUB!!!!... BINGE WATCHING!!!! started watching from where you move your home from NC to TN... (where i live too)... just finish the one where you put up the last piece of dry wall up ...lolllll.... yes i have heard (stomp a mud hole..etc)...lollll... Angelia have you thought about putting a Buffalo Print curtain up for pantry... you might have change it out by now... still a little behind but will catch up...
Congratulations on hitting 100K subscribers.
Congratulations on the 100 thousand🎉❤
I have this kit and was also curious about the soil temperature sensor. I reached out to RainPoint about this and was told the sensor is measuring the temperature at the soil surface rather than below the surface. I'd imagine the surface of the soil absorbing sunlight throughout the day and re-radiating it out would be causing the soil surface temperature readings to read higher. Guess this is one design change I would have made would be to make it to where the temperature sensors are below the soil rather than at the surface. Maybe RainPoint can work on an add-on sensor accessory that monitors soil temperature below the surface.
One other thing I'd like to mention, at the top of the soil sensors, the tiny window just above the button on the front of the sensor housing is the light sensor which gives you an indication of how sunny or shady that spot is. If you find the light readings useful in the app, you might want to uncover the top of that first sensor where you have the straw so the light sensor can accurately monitor the sunlight. One thing I wish the app did was calculate the sun duration from the light readings to determine how much sunlight a particular location gets during the day and whether the spot is too sunny or too shady.
Great video BTW. I love your garden and setup!
You had some really great suggestions, did you turn them into the company?
@@michellejaggard9657 Yes. One thing I'd like to see RainPoint eventually do on their future generations of irrigation products is do a full weather station that also has wind speed and direction and solar data and could calculate evapotranspiration (the opposite of rainfall) the way some professional controllers do to build a watering plan on replacing the water deficit.
Another thing that would be cool is if they had a database of different plants and with the help of the soil sensors could adjust watering based on both evapotranspiration and/or the specific watering requirements of the plants in the vicinity of the sensor.
May the lord bless and protect you and your family
Good afternoon Sam, I am enjoying the heat and sun too here in UK .
Thanks for video! Anything that helps me save water and keeps my garden in shape is a win!
So true!
That soil temp! Phew! I thought if that's below the surface on the bean bed, no wonder they were dying. Would probably be that the soil is composting or something, I would think. Otherwise, the mulching you did should help. :)
Sam I think you like GADGETS, you need a trench coat and fedora you'll be the next Inspector Gadget😊
I can't argue with that one! I do like them. :)
This sounds cool. I use drip from rain barrels right now. I have a rachio controller for my lawn sprinkler which uses the weather forecast to decide whether to skip or not. Two features I like : it ends each scheduled watering at that days sunrise and it has a soak function which splits the timing of each zone in half. 🙂
Could you please elaborate on this rain barrel drip system. We are going to try to get barrels and a new shed set up to save run off but would like to be able to use it with a drip system. Newbie here looking for help wherever I can find it.
if it does not reach you might be able to put a wifi extender intoo one of the sheds , or burry a wifi cable to one of the sheds and hang up a wifi router there
think having wifi in the sheds is nice as you can listen to online radio and dont need to use the data plan on youre phone
btw with the watering system hooked up the way you have now the plants furthest away get the least amount of water (the lines usually dry out and the water drains out) making a big ring around the whole system usually means that it fisrst pushes the air out before pressurizing all the watering points makes it water a little more equal
having water coming from both ends allso helps if theres a jam/plug in the line somewhere
Good job! I love this program. It sure does save you a lot of work. Keep up the great work!
Way too complicated for this old lady, but with your tech expertise, it makes sense. Good luck with your garden.
Amazing system it seems. Thanks for the sharing and the videos, love u guys
Oh meant to ask, are you going to do a special video when you get your silver UA-cam plaque. That would be cool to make a video collage from when you started to now
I'm not much on the subject today, but I know a lot of your subscribers are. Can't help everyone all the time. I'll sure be glad when your bounty is picked and maybe we can see a recipe or two. Thanks and see you all next time.
Inspector Gadget has nothing on you!
☮️💖🙏🤜
Nice water system going to have to get me one
Perfect system for a hydrant driven setup.
I like it.
Wow , Sam - this is awesome 😎!!! You always find the best gadgets 🎉❤
Bit big for my 15’ garden but looks like an incredible kit
Thanks for sharing
Well how cool is that! What a great system! Definitely would like the scheduled watering for all my flowers! Hope your garden is doing well! Hugs! Em ❤❤❤
Thank you both! This is amazing!
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for checking it out and leaving us a comment too!
Looks like great time saver !
My Ag teacher would have been in agreement, I'm sure!
Nifty system!
Cool toys for the garden😊
This was a great video. I actually can't wait to order one now. Thank you for posting this.
Glad it was helpful!
That is pretty neat.
Cool!
That system would come in handy here in Florida!
Hi Sam & Angela that is an awesome device.Good luck with your garden this year.🌷💕🌷👋🏻 BOYS
Cool.
I'm so glad Sam, you are a tech man. I am happy with my hoses. I am going to fit a filter on my water hoses because I don't think the plants like chorine no more than I do. I can't wait til my neighbor sees that.😂 like watching your video. God bless.♥️🇺🇲
Filtering public water is always a good idea. We've been watching our plants to see if they have any aversion to the water. So far it seems okay. If anything comes up, we'll add a filter out there too. Our house is filtered and our drinking water points in the home are double filtered. :)
Mary do you have a large space to water? just wondering because if you leave chlorinated water out over night the chlorine will dissappear.
Yes, I have veggies everywhere. I'm trying to put in some irrigation. I may be leaving for a week and a half, so I'm having an irrigation system for my neighbor. He makes sure the garden is watered for any veggies he wants, and I grow different things than him.
That’s a great system Sam. How was the wifi signal from your home? I am building raised bed now that will be about 100ft from home. We live on three acres here in Alabama(southeast) and my wife wants to get this system. She told me and I quote set it up like Sam and Angela’s garden period. She loves the channel to
This should keep your water up level needs more consistent. 😊
Awe shucks you take the fun out of gardening, just kidding that a awesome little gadget to have. Nice🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
We have many irons in our fires and forget to water the garden. LOL This is a nice sanity saver for us to battle the heat we have out here. :)
Meat thermometer can be calibrated.
I love your instruction videos, you need more deals for brands.
I appreciate the compliment. :) We probably get 5 emails every day from companies, but 99% are just deleted. Only the best or ones that we are really interested in are considered. :)
I remember going down the rabbit hole looking at their products when you kind of gave the sneak-peak of the sensors a few videos back, and I wonder if the smaller, flat sensors (blue, with 3 metal probe's pointing out the bottom) may be more closer to 'accurate' than the larger white probes? I'd be interseted to see how the 2 differing ones actually perform in the 'field' as it were, lol. As always, super helpful video, and at some point I'd love to set up something similar in our back yard with a couple raised beds, but I'd be angling more towards my favorite white cukes, lol. Can't ever get enough of those dang things (our local produce stand just had a batch today, and sold out about 30 minutes before I got there, lol).
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
just order one kit n thanks
Yeah maybe its the sun, beating on the plastic. Even though its white. Can you picture how warm it is inside the unit. If you were shrunk down & lived inside the soil unit you'd need AC for sure in there lol.
Place a shade wall in place.
❤️👍👍👍
What will they think of next🙂
Too fancy for this country girl.
All that technical stuff is beyond me. I turn the sprinkler on and move it to the next area. No batteries needed.
We all have different priorities and do things differently, and that's just fine.
I prefer to remove as many tedious chores from my life as possible. Tools like this also give you data, and, thus, better control over your garden. That's what I like.
👍
can you use rechargeable batteries for this Sam?
👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
🙋♀️🌻
👍♥️
👍💞
Sam how much would you sell one of the garden gage holders for? Did you buy all your black hoses and connections fron them also ? My house sits in the middle of my in town small lot. I have gardens in the front and gardens in the back how do you think this would work for me?
All of our garden irrigation hoses and fittings came from Hoss Tools. We have links to most of them in the videos that show them, but here's a direct link to their Irrigation page. Hoss is very affordable and a quick shipping place for us where we live -- they're in GA. shrsl.com/4328l This could run anything you hook a hose to, but maybe it would be worth it to put one on a timer and do the other manually? Not sure, everyone's setups are very different. :) Send me an email about the wooden bracket if that's what you mean. I have a few left over from another project.
Does this one have a 5Ghz radio? I have an older Rainpoint and the darned thing won't work with my fiber router. I know, just setup an old 2.4Ghz router... problem is that spectrum is saturated in my neighborhood.
I think this one is 2.4 Ghz too. We have a dual-band router.
Can you turn the water for the hose on with the phone.
Yep, you have full control with the App
It looks like it's working. Great!!
🤔🤔 No funny bits😮
Over head.....hugs
