You might actually see your wife more Buddy. 😆 When first started explaining the hose thing , it sounded more like a shock absorber for water pipes.(Made sense). Then, in explaining the waterpoint system, it sounded ideal for the busy gardener! And you explained it so easily that I believe people will not be so afraid to tackle technology in the garden. Maybe they (manufactorer) will use your simple explanation as their tutorial . Good luck with all of it.

Hello Stephanie and Buddy the way that you are currently storing your batteries in the plastic bag and they're all just loose in the bag is dangerous. They can short-circuit and cause a fire. You can store batteries loosely in the bag like that only if you cover the positive and or the negative and or both with tape or individually wrapped in plastic. Use either masking tape or electrical.. also it will drain the power of your battery very quickly when they are rolling around and touching making your batteries no good any longer.
We live in a mobile home park and have irrigation water that comes through a community sump pump with individual water spigot for each yard. We are not allowed to use the well water to water our yards and gardens. My husband and I have a large in-ground garden as well as 4 raised beds around the outside of the garden. We want to put some kind of watering system in but nothing can be permanent/ in-ground. It would need to be able to water the raised beds and the in-ground garden together. Do you have any suggestions of a simple, inexpensive way we could rig something up? I'd be happy to email you pictures of our garden area.
This new irrigation system will be a great teaching opportunity for your two younger kids. It has been my experience teaching that kids like to learn about weather. Also, have the chickens been using the sand bath?
