The holes that the staples make that allows the weeds to grow, can you put some silicone caulk over the holes to prevent the grass/weeds from growing up threw them? We are about to do the same thing and just wondered if you had tried that, I’m just at the 15:00 mark and thought to ask.

I am a widow and I need to add a sprinkler system to my raised bed garden and front flower bed. Until this video I always thought this would be a daunting task. Thank you, Kevin and Sarah for providing the proper equipment and supplies lists and for explaining it so simply and thoroughly. I know I can do this by myself now instead of having to pay someone to do it. I feel empowered. Hallelujah!

Yah, this is a great video and wish it was available a couple of years ago. Really great video. You said you are a widow, but I don’t have a gauge for your age. So, just a couple of notes from a 67-year-old. It is not so easy to connect all the connectors. I am not strong enough, so soak your pieces in hot water and it makes it so much more pliable. I use a large insulated cup and let my pieces soak for 30 seconds or so and then it is super easy to snap in. Also, going with a non-Amazon company will get you some customer service. I used Drip Depot and they held my hand a bit to overcome obstacles. I have a mostly container garden with a timer and it has worked really well for me. This is a really great video with detailed information. Hope this additional insight helps.

I really appreciate you sharing your experience with us….In November of 2023 my wife died and 3 weeks later my mother died….when they were in ok health my mother and wife loved to work in our little garden….I miss them so much and I know they always enjoyed our time in the garden….i have such wonderful memories of all of us in our garden….I hope you have the same happiness…God bless you and I wish you many happy times in your garden…..😃
I’m a widow too and I’ve been wanting a drip irrigation system for the past few years. I’m so thankful for videos like this to help me understand what I need to do. I feel good that I can do this! I wrote down the tips from the commentor who said to soak the parts in hot water to make them more pliable and to buy from Drip Depot instead of Amazon.
Absolltely gorgeous!!! The onlly thing I would add is a couple of rocking chairs, so you can occasionally take a break from your chores and listen to your garden grow.
Kevin you are the most incredible instructor. You explain your task at a good pace so a person would not get lost along the way. Your raised beds are so well organized as well. I put in a drip system about ten years back and it was wonderful. Hardest part was putting the barbs in the main line, so when yours went in so easily I was blown away!

I'm harvesting and canning today to make room for my summer crops. It's time in Texas. Preserving today: Swiss Chard, Celery, and different cabbages. Tomorrow: Planting tomatoes, peppers, squashes, herbs, etc.

I have 14 - 5x8’ beds and went this route several years ago, and have a separate water connection to each bed so the early planted beds can have water without wasting water on beds that have not yet been planted, and can turn off beds that are done. I needed to go this route due to still working full time and having limited time to garden. Best thing we ever did!

Looks like a great solution to a specific situation! I went to your Amazon links to order the pressure compensating sprinklers, shut off valves, and hole punch tool, only to see ALL were out of stock and they "don't know when or if there will be more." Have not really located a good alternative yet, so I guess we will watch and hope they get more in stock.
We have a 40x50 garden equipped with ground cover fabric and drip tube irrigation thanks to your guidance from the "old" homestead. It has enabled me to successfully keep gardening with Multiple Sclerosis at age 67. We owe you a lot for what you showed us!
This Spring we added three Vegega raised beds (3.5x6.5' configuration) outside the garden, again thanks to what you introduced us to. That is why this video was of interest. We put ground cover fabric under and around each, and placed 1/2" hardware cloth under each bed for critter protection since we have voles and moles around can be a problem to crops like carrots and sweet potatoes. Also bought one of the Vegega bed cover systems to try, allowing for a plastic cover for cool weather planting and a mesh cover to hopefully protect the brassicas from moths!

Awesome. Just a suggestion, you could put two or three timers that come on separate and individually so you would only be supplying 1/2 or 1/3 of the beds at a time.

When my uncle turned 18 he left the farm in Missouri and went to college. He said he did not plant the rocks and he was done picking them every year. He never went back to a farming lifestyle.

I think I can do this all by myself with the awesome instructions you have given. 1 tip- if you are running that hose to the end of your fence, why don’t you link it around the bottom of the fence and then zip tie it instead of staking and punching a hole in the cloth?

I'm sure someone has mentioned this already, but the splitter that you are using at your water faucet/hydrant is your bottleneck. If you get a full flow wye or splitter, you will get full flow to your garden and can most likely run all the beds at once. I've never liked the splitters that have such a small opening. Love your garden.
I am excited to see how your new raised beds and greenhouse plants do this summer. I only grow a few tomatoes and peppers (at my age) but I have to agree with Kevin that tomato season is the best season of the year!

I would suggest covering the plastic tubing with something to protect it from the sun UV rays from cracking it prematurely. You know how plastic is, awesome job overall!!
If the whole garden isn’t covered in weed fabric, you can bury it a few inches.
