This is the second video in a row I watch in a row. Guess you could say I’m binge watching your channel.. You remove a lot of wood at a time. I guess that comes with confidence and more experience. I’ve just started carving figurines. Been doing very abstract delicate pieces for about 30 years.
Thank you. I’ve been doing this and selling them for 20 plus years trying to earn a living. I did things as fast as possible but tried to keep the pieces decent to get more to sell.
He looks like he's trying to stay warm on a cold winter day :) I think it's a good challenge for a novice carver looking to improve. Thanks for yet another great character, your imagination is wonderful.
Oh wow another great video!!! But, I've been carving no neck people for a long time don't have ears either lol. Mine aren't near as good as yours lol. I just never did like my necks or ears. And funny thing is mine always looks like my grandpa and the women always looks like my grandma. Thanks Mr. Coates an inspiration for sure!
@@parsaerfani7973 Ah excellent. I had a friend who wordked for phone company. When they replaed all their white cedar poles he was gifted them. He cut them into 1ft lengths, split logs & created a great Santa ornament. I enjoy using different woods. In a few weeks I'll be going to Minnesota to gather cottonwood bark for carving woodspirits & ornamrnts.
hello, 1 2 3 and it's done it's very fun cool, I would like it if it's possible to make a soldier of the sessession war you know with the special cap wow it will be fun to see you do this sculpture 😊 thank you
Basswood is pretty much impossible to get here where I live. I’ve only tried it a time or two. It wasn’t a good piece of wood. Too seasoned. The only wood I’ve used much was pine, Aspen and balsam fir. Make do with what’s available to you
Hi Kevin, greetings from Ireland, i am learning alot from your videos. Thank you
Thank you Joe. Good to hear from you
Such a great example you use any wood and not fancy tools and you create great carvings. You are a fine craftsman
Thank you Fern. It’s a great hobby with little cost
Another pine example of how its done? Being a novice, I will be very happy if this guy turns out for me. Great work Kevin
Thank you. It’s good practice if nothing else
thanks for putting the tape measure in the shot, that really helps with porportions. hope to see it all the time. cool character.
No problem. Thanks

Thanks Joe. I remember an old fellow from back when I was a kid. He was very similar to this character. Wore his coat like summer and winter.
Génial quelle belle réalisation. Félicitations et à bientôt pour d'autres vidéos. C'est un régal et merci pour les dimensions.
Bonne continuation.
Thank you
Lol…love it. Reminds me of a cold evening walking through the rain along the Lunenburg waterfront on the way to the Knot.
Thank you. Kinda like the weather was here while I was whittling him. 😀
Hello, my friend, I enjoyed the process of making a kokeshi doll.

Thank you Chuck. I did it this way hoping it would be a little easier for less experience carvers to follow. It’s all about the practice
That’s pine!? What’s your secret to carving pine? Thank you for your inspiration. A new subscriber here!
Thank you David. It’s white pine I carve which is pretty soft. You need a sharp knife. I’ve tried other kinds of pine that was useless.
Thanks for sharing ! 👍

May your knives be ever sharp!

I like that you don't use basswood all the time, I use clear chunks of scrap 2x4s most of the time... basswood is kind of a treat though ;)

Do you wet your pine wood with a spray of water or water+rubbing alcohol before you start ???
