You’ve made the best how to videos that I’ve found for these 1st gen CRV’s thanks a lot man.
Thank you for the compliment! I'm glad you find them helpful! 🤟
@@hondaresource No problem, I’m eyeing a 99 crv with 140k miles right now but I’m not sure if they had the valve adjustment done is there a way to tell just by looking at it? What kind of problems could I expect if they hadn’t done any adjustments on it? Thanks!
@@sneakersam8713 you can't really look at it and tell. Usually they will have valve chatter, esp on cold start up. I would recommend doing a lash adjustment. These are prone to getting too tight and burning valves.
Thank you so much! I'm a rural carrier for USPS and these CRV's are the greatest for driving in the middle, plus the reliability. I have an 04 CRV as my primary, but I picked up a 97 CRV, for an emergency backup, for a steal, but the window wouldn't work. But, I can truly say from first hand experience, as a guy who relies on his vehicle for his livelihood, these CRV's outshine, outlast, and outperform any Jeep, Ford, or Chevy in the Midwestern winters. Thx bud.
I've actually sold several of these to rural carriers. Currently I have a 2005 with a rhd conversion kit on it. Soon we'll be posting it up for sale.
I purchased a 97 jdm for my route.. It is a beast.. Even Amazon cant bring it down... :)
Thank you, I have the same model unoperative mechanism. Water entered worm drive and siezed the gear. Needed derusting and greasing, working fine, no need to replace assembly. Here in Australia the car is right-hand drive and the screws are located slightly different, making the job a pain. Otherwise it is a simple repair.
Thanks mate. Bloody helpful. Saved me a quid. Cheers from Oz.🇦🇺
My 1995 crv drivers window reg just went. Have a replacement on the way. Will have to watch this again while working on mine!
Thanks for the help much appreciated! Something to add if anyone else has them, I was able to get the window out with vent shades on, I didn't have to take them off luckily !
this was one of the easiest and most satisfying repairs i think ive ever done on a car, largely due to this video. Everything was just like you showed it in the video, none of my plastic clips snapped, and the payoff was immediate. Very glad to have my window working again thanks. It hardly took longer than this video to do and a lot of that was fussing with the moisture barrier.
Great to hear the video was helpful 🤟
Just picked up a 98 cr-v, your videos have been very helpful, thank man
You are the best !! It is June 24, 2023 at 9:35 pm in southern Oregon.
The night before I had to take my 01 CRV in for an inspection appt. my driver side window failed to go up. It had been acting funny off and on once in a while for couple months but decided to die then. I thought about just taking it in and let the mechanics fix it. But I replaced one on a caravan a long time ago and remembered it wasn't too hard to do. So I just went and ordered the Dorman brand off Amazon which looked well made and prelubed.
2 days later got it and would of regretted paying someone to fix it as it was not hard at all to do.
Thanks for your well made videos.
Sir, this video was awesome… very simple and great instruction. Got my window back up to speed, and it works great. Thank you for your assistance!
Thanks a lot for the really clear video and a step-by-step guide. Tomorrow I'm assembling a new regulator myself
I had to check out your vid to figure out how to replace my 2001 Honda window drive motor on the passenger side ,it seems pretty straight forward thanks Mate!
I followed this tutorial step-by-step and it turned out great. Thanks for the help man.
Good deal
Just finished installing a Dorman window Regulator assembly. You video helped me tremendously. I am not a DIY person but your CRV videos give me the courage to work on my Honda 2000 CRV/310k. I watched 3 times to feel comfortable to do it.
THANKS!!! for sharing your expertise with us.
Great to hear!
How’s the Dorman regulator working out?
Nice to hear of your mileage, because you are still running your car with those miles!
Mine is a 2000 as well, with almost 129000
Wondering how many miles are left on it although I have heard I can do twice as much, ' run the wheels off', too, with continued care/maintainance...
How long do you think you could keep yours going (if you haven't sold it.)
Okay thanks.
@@gomertube It is working good as of today!!
@@jerryhwang2060 Cool! Thanks for updating.
This is my next CRV repair! Great video!
Thank you
Thank you! You just helped me change mine today
Thank you very much for making this video.
Clear, straight-forward, no-nonsense.
Followed your instructions and my son & I got it done.
Awesome! Glad to help
Thank you for the video. Your step by step video has been a tremendous help.
Glad to help
A big thank you to you, I watched this video twice and took notes the second time. Step by step I was able to remove and install the motor regulator device in my daughter's CRV !
Good deal
It should be pointed out (again) that this door panel was already destroyed. If you don't remove the door panel carefully then yours will be destroyed, too! Thanks for documenting this walk-through.
the door panel or the plastic beneath the door panel?
This is the best video I have seen for repairing my window! I feel very confident that I will be able to take on this task!
Best of luck to you!!
Hey brother, just want to thank you for your video, I just replaced the same part in my daughters 2001 CRV. It was so easy, I watched the video and took notes to take with me outside and followed each step as you described.....It worked perfectly the first time........again, thank you so much (It took me 1 hour an 45 minutes because I did'nt want to rush it). Ventura, ca.
Heck yeah man
Thank you so much!! This video was to the point and explained everything so well. I tried to watch some other videos and they made it so complicated I damaged my door (also because I was being impatient 😅) But it turns out they took off parts for no reason. Wish I saw yours first, I appreciate you!
Hopefully you can get yours fixed up now!
@@hondaresource I did get it working, thank you!
Thank you so much! Very detailed and helped a ton!!
while waiting for the rain to subside with my door panel off and only one bolt holding the window on exposed, now I know what to do, even the professionals need a hint now and again. Thanks!
Awesome work Sir! Both Driver and Passenger regulators have gone in the space of 2 months. Getting some reliable airflow and more importantly, ordering drive thru is a touch more tricky without the abillity to wind these suckers down I'll tell you what. This video is gold - im going to order the pair and have some fun. I love my 2000 CR-V - channels like yours helps a novice like me keep this baby alive!!!
Thanks man, this is why I do this 🤟
Since your comments are two years old, you may not see this but I will continue, anyway...
I have a 2000 CRV and since the rains came in California, the last ten days, all four of my windows started rolling up only half way! (I had to 'help' with pulling them up with the button on.).. The behaviors went back to normal but my driver's window has been at it for a couple of weeks, is really a pill..
Do you know if this indicates a different part, a motor, a fuse, not functioning, or
all four regulators at once. (Hope not.) Or something else.?
Guess I am posing this question to the commentor, the video maker (thank you) or to anyone reading, who has some familiarity/knowledge with this?
Appreciate that.
Thanks.
Thanks for the help! NICE I was able to fix the motor gears, the motor itself was good, but the gears / worm gear were very very very stuck with tons of rust and dry grease, with the help of wire wheel and sand paper to smooth the friction points clean and coated with rust converter and fill it up with new grease, it works smooth and now it´s the fastest window of my father´s CRV! :D
Glad it helped
Thanks dude, saved me $100 taking it to my mechanic. Got it installed in an hour.
Awesome
Just did this on my crv thanks to you! Cheers man.
Glad it helped!
Thanks for making this video!
Just for the lolz, took apart the motor & gear assembly - found that over the decades, water had gotten into the gears and rusted the steel parts, causing them to seize up.
Again, just to see if it was possible, scrapped off the rust and grease/rust paste and reassembled it & the thing ran - sort of.
Into the steel recycling stream it goes!
*I totally agree with you that the whole assembly should be replaced & not just the motor/gear sub-assembly*
Again, thank you very much & stay safe.
Awesome. I'm glad you were able get it going
Very nice and concise presentation. Thx for the video.
Thank you
been enjoying your videos.. just bought a 2000 CRV with 83k miles on it. Minor issues with door and one window..but other than that it looks good. thanks for the info!
Issue could also be broken wires in the door jam.
Great video. Thanks
Always a pleasure to see it done right very helpful
Thank you
thank you for the video.I did both glass and regulator
Awesome!

Glad it helped
Great job, thanks
amazing instructions-clear and concise!
Thank you
Awesome bro! Thanks a lot
I reinstalled the entire door panel before I realized that I didn’t put the plastic back over the wiring. I wanted to say **** it, but our road is decorated with mud holes. 🤦♀️
Btw, Im a 50 y/o woman and I just replaced my window regulator, thanks to your video. Your instructions were straight forward, from beginning to end. Thank you! 😬👍
Awesome!

Dude you are awesome I just got me a 2001 crv 2.0 with only 40,000 miles from a sweet grandma and my window just went out I'm gonna be watching this Saturday when I do the job
heck yeah!
Very helpful video. It has guided me through all the details i need to know. My window is now working as new.
Awesome!!!
I'm buying my first Honda later today. Very fortunate to have found your channel.
heck yeah man, Honda's are great vehicles. Like anything mechanical, they will have their issues but overall they are solid!
nice video!
Thanks for the video! I just replaced my two window regulators!

Gracias a tu vídeo pude realizar cambio de elevalunas. Muchas gracias..!!!
+1 for someone you helped. Thanks buddy!
Awesome
Thanks a lot, it worked out perfectly, except for the company sent us incompatible connectors but we found a solution by using home connectors!
Glad it helped
Great vid, helpful!! I used a DORMAN regulator/motor off Amazon $54.99, you can look all of their CRV stuff using the Dorman website to be sure your getting the correct part #. They usually make good stuff and if they find anything that can be improved on they usually do that as well. In this case the upper right and lower left mounting bolts were already in place which was helpful as those bolt holes in the door are slotted so you can just hang the new regulator in place and it aligns all the other bolt holes so your not fishing around and trying to line stuff up with one hand and thread the bolt with the other.
Excellent video! you explained everything along the way and made it very easy to understand and I feel confident in doing the job myself. Thank you very much
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much for making this!! Your videos are super easy to follow!!
Thank you
Did the front driver and rear passenger in no time. Thanks for making it easier!!
Just a tip, that if you have rain visors you may have to peel them off to do this. I was able to remove the window but couldn't replace it in the track with the visor in place.
Thank you so much for providing so much insight!
thank you!
Thank u so much this video I just changed my window regulator quickly! Thank u!
I'm glad you found it helpful
Just did this job today with your video playing on my iPad. It was perfect!
Thank you!
Also that missing screw in the handle of the door....my car was missing it too
🤷🏼♂️😂
Awesome!
The missing piece of plastic is called a vapor barrier. Best to replace it. Rain runs down the window, and drains out the bottom of the door. The vapor barrier protects the door panel, and keeps all that moisture from getting into the interior of the car. But thanks for the video- I'm about to go out and replace the same drivers regulator on my '99!
You may not consider yourself a professional but, you are a master at what you have shown here!
Thank you!
Great video!
thank you
Great video very thankful for your help
Thank you!
brilliantly clear informative video which made it easy to follow to do the window mechanism replacement. many thanks. 2 hour job taking my time and with numerous tea breaks ( Im from the uk ) but doing this in australia on son in laws car.

You are amazing and such a blessing! Thank you so much - got my 2001 drivers window back from the dead:)
good deal
Nice explanation, thank you!
Glad you found it helpful
Rly good guide, as much as I can tell the best one for this kind of job out there.
Thank you man
I lived in Alabama 20 years almost and am about to change my window regulator.
Thanks Man! I'll unfortunately have to replace mine soon and I'll definitely be coming back to this video for help! I really appreciate it. - Charlotte, NC
unfortunate, but glad to have you here!
Super clear. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
hey man, great video !! it was very helpfull, i definitely am a new subscriber.
I'm glad to have you here!
I’ve been searching around trying to find which window regulator these previous owners put into my crv and this video helped me find it. They bought that rock auto one you just installed. When the motor goes out, you cant put the original part back in. The original motor is a 3 bolt mount and the rock auto crap is 4 bolt.
I always replace the regulator with the motor. Its about the same cost and you get a fresh regulator🤷♂️
Thanks - Great Help
Glad it helped!
I need to do this as well. Thanks.
Hopefully it helps
Splendid thanks
🤟I hope it helped you
Thanks for the video. I wanted to let you all know that you do not need to remove the window to install a new motor and you can buy the motor by itself and reuse the existing frame.....3 8mm bolts hold it to the frame.
Definitely possible, but most of the time it's about the same price and you get a new regulator of you get the whole assembly.
@@hondaresource I just swapped the motor only yesterday(it has the regulator on it), didn't have to remove the window and recycled the old frame. Your video was helpful for the screw/bolt locations, the rest was pretty much a no brainer.
Thanks perfect 👍 well done
I'm glad you like it
great stuff
thank you
Perfect, I appreciate the video. Spot on.
Thank you man
Good video keep doing it
Thank you
Your good!
This video was so helpful. I have a 97 CRV and wondered if it’s necessary to also replace the window motor along with the regulator? Any advice is appreciated.
Great Video
Thanks!
