With all those Grandchildren, GG, and by now hundreds of other descendents you'd think someone in the family would have ponied up a grave stone by now. Such an amazing piece of history that I would want to shout it out to the world. I Pray someone puts a marker up for he and his wife.

If you ever happen to go down to Bristol, Tennessee, there’s the grave of one Julius Franklin Howell that you should go see. He was 102 years old when he passed away in 1948 and he happened to be one of the last surviving men of the American Civil War and the last surviving member of General James Longstreet’s Corps of the Army of Northern Virginia.
He’s a remarkable case because, much like Samuel J. Seymour, there’s a few recordings of him recounting his early life and the war as well as him with a number of celebrities from the 1940’s.

I used to watch those old shows here on youtube a year or so ago and I remember him telling his story. The stars that were on the panel were amazed at his recount of what happened. Bless his heart, at that age, being excited to come on TV and tell his story and then he falls and hurts himself at the hotel just before the show and insists on coming on anyway. May he rest in peace. Mr. Seymour, you are not forgotten.

She was killed back in 1984 and the case has never been solved. I was only 7 years old and I remember it being on the news and I remember parents being afraid to leave their children go outside for quite awhile. She is buried in Rosehill cemetery here in Hagerstown. She was only 14 years old. Her story even aired on unsolved mysteries.

@@FascinatingGraveyard there's a lot of information that I can give on the assassination of Abraham Lincoln but it would be too much information to detail in the comments section.
I saw Seymour in another video interview aside from this television game show whereas he stated that he was an usher boy who was working at Ford's Theater that night.
Actually as to the sound of the gunshot it was muffled by roaring laughter from the audience over a bawdy joke delivered by an actor on stage and no one knew Lincoln had been shot until after John Wilkes Booth had lept to the stage from the balcony and delivered words to the audience then exited out the stage door to the back alley behind the theater an act that confused the crowd.
Upon landing on the stage he pointed a bloody Bowie knife he just stabbed Major Rathbone with up to the balcony and shouted "Sic semper tyrannis, there lieth Caesar and I Brutus hath slained him; the South shall rise again"!
Suddenly a blood courtling scream came from the balcony and a soldier of the Old Guard yelled from the balcony "My God, my God is there a doctor in the house? The President has been shot"!
The audience, fearing that perhaps Confederates were attacking Washington DC ran out of the theater into the street screaming in terror.

Notice that the host of the show stated at the end of the show that the elderly man was more concerned over the man jumping out of the presidents box because he didn't know that Lincoln had been shot. In other words, Seymour really didn't see Lincoln get assassination. The truth is, Lincoln staged his assassination. Seymour didn't witness the assassination. He was told that he did.
Lincoln was a beneficiary of a will by A.A. Spring for property in Huntsville Alabama. Lincoln staged his death because he had Malfrome syndrome and cancer. However, Lincoln had to run for reelection because the liberal Republicans didn't want McCleland to become president because he would probably side with the south and stop reconstruction.
So Lincoln staged his own death so that Andrew Johnson could become president. However, Andrew Johnson actually sided with the south and that is the main reason he came close to being impeached. He kept the presidency by one vote. Later it was found out that the South actually had a very good reason for seceding. The Civil War was about state's rights and tariffs, not about slavery since when you consider that the slave owners in the south were either blacks and Jews. Very few whites owned any slaves and there was only Confederate general (Nathan Bedford Forrest) that owned any slaves, and he really didn't own any slaves. He had workers and indentured servants on his plantation. When Lincoln became president we lost our freedoms. No long would the Constitution be relevant. Lincoln started the Civil War because he hated the Constitution.
Most northern generals owned slaves. The generals that owned slaves were Grant, Sheridan, Sherman, Humboldt, Thomas, and many more. The two generals that didn't owned slaves were Roscrans and Sickles. The first slave state was Massachusetts, and the last slate to free her slaves was New Jersey. She did so in 1868. Grant freed his slaves in 1866.

This is fascinating, Lamont, I'm so glad you took the time to search for Mr. Seymour's gravesite and share his story with us. It's a shame there's no marker but maybe that was the way he wanted it. Really hard to say with all those family members, maybe descendants don't get know either.

I saw that clip of him few years ago. Was kinda surprised that it made low mention. It was very important information.
