this is the easiest tutorial I found but you don't talk about the strumming patterns much and being a beginner I found this quite confusing. Would it be possible for you to put the strumming pattern in your future videos? if so I would find that very helpful.
Wow, this is the best teaching guitar video I have ever seen! It's very easy to understand and I can play it competently within 1 hour :D Very good job, keep making video like this :D Thanks!
Steve is definitely one of my favorite teachers. You know right away when you find a winner. He simply causes you to relax and not worry about it too much. I believe that’s his strongpoint because it allows you to feel the music and not force it. Very important. Also being taught the right chords and theory is key.
It's a great tutorial, but I've found it really helpful if the very first thing you do is play through the song a little, and then break it down, this is what martysongs does and I find him to be the best youtube teacher around
Thanks Steve. Great lesson and perfect timing. Having practiced this song all week with my daughter, I got to hear Ed play it live at the AFL Grand Final yesterday (Sep 27 2014)!
Best guitar lesson video I've ever seen. So comprehensive and thorough, a complete beginner on guitar only got it last week and can already play this almost flawlessly. Thank you, liked and a well deserved subscription
Really appreciate how when youre explaining chords like the c add 9 how you say that its basically a g moved down and things like that, its much easier i think to think that way!
the strumming pattern in the beginning is done by hitting the sixth string pluck down strum and then a full strum down, full strum up, sixth string pluck down, full strum up, full strum down, full strum up. so ddududu.
Thank you for this tutorial! I believe I am pretty late in learning how to play the guitar (as I am 22 years old, was never able to play a full song properly) but for a beginner like me, you were able to explain the process and how to just enjoy playing. I am very greatful for this, and this helped me learn my first guitar song! (I haven't mastered it yet but I think I sound good for a beginner because of this tutorial) Thank you! Please continue making tutorials like this!
I really like the way you broke down everything to make it east to understand...I'm a beginner and I'm a huge fan of ed and I hope you do more videos on eds songs because if you did i think id be able to play his songs much easier because of how you explain the steps. I learned the a team in one day because of how you explained it. Great video. Hope to see more songs by ed posted by you soon.
Yeah this was like getting a one on one lesson from you. I really enjoyed this video. I'm 28 and i started playing guitar at 15 but i played metal like Metallica, pantera, and slayer in my youth. Death metal after that. Thinking once ive mastered those i could play anything!!! lol but i didn't know any chords! It was all tab. So once i got older and decided i wanted to be the front man and had to sing! I had to learn chords and new songs. Its a lot harder than i thought. You where very informative and described the learning process very well. Thanks and keep it up bro! Appreciate it.
You're a great teacher! I totally agree with what you said about Ultimate Guitar as I found I was just staring at the chords and not thinking. Also, thanks for explaining the palm mute technique as I know that Sheeran uses it a lot but had no idea how to play it and couldn't find any videos that explained it effectively. So thanks!
and you are right, its better to learn when you have to listen and write down everything :) Now I remember all the chords :) thaanks again and keep going :)
Great video! In my case (I'm an amateur) the most difficult part former is the strumming pattern and how to make that guitar noise, not the chords, and you've explained very nicely. Well done
The strumming pattern for those of you who don't know is annoying at first but can easily be done. It is in 4/4 time. He starts with a root strum for the first beat, a strum on beat two that is tied to the third. The end of the measure ends with - up down up- for the and of three, four and the and of four (+ 4 +). It looks like this if you are familiar with it- Root 2-3 + 4 + (The root is beat 1). Try reading this while listening/watching him^ play. The only difference is that Steve plays it with a strum on the two AND the and of two. It sounds good how he plays it but i believe that it is played the way I said above. Do whatever sounds good to you. :) Also note that the root strum is on the low E string (the 6th string).
thanks A LOT ! for your video ! i wanted to play that song and thanks to you, i will ! you're a good teacher. Thank to your daughter to ask you that ! Allison From Paris :)
this has been really useful and just awesome! thanks a lot! I will sit down now and not just learn the whole thing, but understand it! and work on it! :)
This is the first video ive watched by you. Ive recently just started playing guitar and I love it! I found this video very helpful! You are very great at breaking it down and explaining everything! This is awesome! Thanks!!!!! So motivating! Im definitely going to keep watching your vids! Thanks again!, Josh
wow finally someone who knows what hes doing, haha or rather plays the song right XD i hate it when people make the easier version that's simpler to understand
Probably the best guitar tutorial I've ever seen!!! I'm about to start a channel where I will upload covers and my own songs, and I'm planning to upload a cover of this song.
luke gonano this actually does make sense. if you just think real hard and feel the song and play along to it, it actually helps get the strumming down. have done it that way many times.
luke gonano but for early beginners who aren't that good yet at figuring out strumming patterns it's nice. i remember when i was starting i really liked ppl giving the strumming patterns. later then i got used to different strumming patterns and then after a while i could figure out my own patterns
In case anyone's wondering where to drop in a quick improv in between the verses to make things more interesting it's the last two measures of G in the verse :)
as with what alot of people have said... i thinkkk you could do with slowing down on the strumming pattern... but other than that i think one of the easier lessons on this song to understand :)
by far my favorite tutorial of "The A Team" by ed sheeran
this is the easiest tutorial I found but you don't talk about the strumming patterns much and being a beginner I found this quite confusing. Would it be possible for you to put the strumming pattern in your future videos? if so I would find that very helpful.
You are a really patient and instructive teacher. Thank you for taking the time to teach people for free and sharing music with others.
Wow, this is the best teaching guitar video I have ever seen! It's very easy to understand and I can play it competently within 1 hour :D Very good job, keep making video like this :D Thanks!
+Trường Đặng Trọng Thank you!
Couldnt agree more. "Karate chop" :)
Jack Spoter same, if did it within the vid AMAZING job man

Well different things work best for different people
Thanks Steve. Great lesson and perfect timing. Having practiced this song all week with my daughter, I got to hear Ed play it live at the AFL Grand Final yesterday (Sep 27 2014)!
love this tutorial. I like how it's broken down piece by piece, I learned this in literally a couple hours thanks
Best guitar lesson video I've ever seen. So comprehensive and thorough, a complete beginner on guitar only got it last week and can already play this almost flawlessly. Thank you, liked and a well deserved subscription
By far one of the most well explained tutorials I've watched, thank you for you hard work and determination/dedication to help people play better
Really appreciate how when youre explaining chords like the c add 9 how you say that its basically a g moved down and things like that, its much easier i think to think that way!
+kpidwc7 Thank you!

Maan you explained everything so clearly and your daughter is very lucky ))thanks so much
You explain better than anyone mate ;) Thanks :D

Thanks for the tutorial it was frustrating at first but the it became clear to me.
Thanks!! You really take the time to go through every step of the song, very helpful!!
amazing vedio....love the detail that you depict....easy to understand...thank u very much....very helpful.....
i love this. thanks you for posting. I'm sure your daughter will be so happy
Amazing. It's so simple to to play even though I knew the chords all along! It depends the way u strum and the melody.
and you are right, its better to learn when you have to listen and write down everything :)
Now I remember all the chords :) thaanks again and keep going :)
Great video! I learnt more than just a song by watching it so thank you.
I'm going to try to learn this before next November and I think I can with this video. Thanks so much
Tyra Wilson did you end up learning it??
wow thanks! this helped a whole lot. wish you were my dad... im the only one in my family who plays any instruments ((guitar, piano, and flute))
You cant go saying you wish that he was your dad, you have no respect for your dad
nope i dont
Lorilei Brandi Insane -_-
Jack Pearson Might be a reason for that, try to be more considerate
Lorilei Brandi I could be your brother and we could play together 😜😆😂
Great video! In my case (I'm an amateur) the most difficult part former is the strumming pattern and how to make that guitar noise, not the chords, and you've explained very nicely. Well done

Also note that the root strum is on the low E string (the 6th string).
cant you just say
Down Up Down up etc
***** He's batman
Ok, Root down up down up. The thing is the timing though. That's part of what I was explaining above.
+Batt Mann thanks for this :) made the strumming a lot easier to understand
thanks A LOT ! for your video ! i wanted to play that song and thanks to you, i will !
you're a good teacher. Thank to your daughter to ask you that !

Good teacher!
I love his music!!!!!
My daughter does too :-)
It helped me a lot, thank you sir!
I don't know why everyone needs a strum pattern.... when you play along you can listen to it and get to know it... You gotta feel it
luke gonano this actually does make sense. if you just think real hard and feel the song and play along to it, it actually helps get the strumming down. have done it that way many times.
Alex Shepherd yeah I find it a lot easier. If you are generally into the song you already know the pattern so to speak
luke gonano but for early beginners who aren't that good yet at figuring out strumming patterns it's nice. i remember when i was starting i really liked ppl giving the strumming patterns. later then i got used to different strumming patterns and then after a while i could figure out my own patterns
Daniel Tober eh we are all different
luke gonano because i and a lot of people can't

Thanks!
In case anyone's wondering where to drop in a quick improv in between the verses to make things more interesting it's the last two measures of G in the verse :)
This is a great tutorial 😊
this is actually great and pls create a tutorial on ed sheeran's gold rush please? thanks! :D
Perfect Video!!!!! =D
Thank you So much :)
as with what alot of people have said... i thinkkk you could do with slowing down on the strumming pattern... but other than that i think one of the easier lessons on this song to understand :)
brilliant tutorial
