I've been a massive Stranglers fan from day one. One of the things I like about them is no two albums ever sounded the same. Very inteligent songwriters and great musicians.

I have been a Stranglers fan since 1979 and the brave thing about the band was they didn't stick to a winning formula (which they had in 1977/78. However their sound and lyrics refleced what they were going through at the time.bThey lost a lot of fans when their sound softened but fortunately they made new fans. Feline was supposed to be a mixture of the soft southern European sound (acoustic guitars) with the harsh colder northern Europe sound. Feline is a personal favourite to this day.

Really enjoyed your post on this very, very underrated album. I love it. And yeah love it or hate it' it got them a whole new fan base in Europe. Buy the way. European Female was the first single lifted from the album, M.S.D, then Paradise.
Keep up the good work, I love your views on the Stranglers.

A very underrated album! But I'm biased being a Stranglers fan from 1976 onwards I am that old 😆

It's a funny old album Feline. Probably the last good album they made. It was diminishing returns after that
The album has those European sensibilities you mention but it's also a dark album. There is a lot of sadness in the songs which I think people miss because it's a lighter sounding effort.
It was also the beginning of the end of Jet making any effort with his drumming and JJ doing anything interesting on his bass.
    Bit of a watershed record.

A very acoustic and electronic album and extremely different from anything that went before Midsummer nights dream , and It’s a Small World also excellent. All Roads lead to Rome could have been Ultravox!

@@duncanpoundcake I think it's Jet's best ever drumming on an LP, it is spot on. You do make some good points. Feline is superior to Sculpture and Dreamtime and in a different league to the utterly pitiful 10. After Feline we had nothing really to shout about until Norfolk Coast.
