My sincerest condolences, you and the family are in my thoughts and prayers. I also unexpectedly lost my father 2 months ago. You have given us so many helpful videos and I'm personally grateful for you and the videos you make. Because of your videos and Tom Spellman I now have 28 (and counting) fruit trees in my yard!
I’m so sorry for your loss! I know exactly how it feels❤ lost my mom last year too!! They’re in a much better place Kamm😊 I getting ready to prune my avo trees
Im so sorry to hear about your father passing. As always, another great video my friend. As for pruning, Im a 2. The problem Im having with summer pruning is Japanese beetles stripped most of the leaves on my young trees (I didn't get the traps up in time), so I pruned the branches in the center but left more height than I would liked but partial leaves are better then none at all. I will trim them better in the winter.
My sincere condolences to you and your family. It really saddened me to hear about your loss. May he rest in peace, and God to bless you and your family with long healthy lives.🙏🙏🙏
9 I have tons of trees, blueberries and blackberries that HAVE to be trimmed this year. I am very intimidated by this but I have already lost 2 pomegranate in 9 months on our new property. So good to see you back. So sorry for your loss. 😢 Prayers for you and your family!
My sincerest condolences to the passing of your dad. I would say that up until I started following your channel I would not have trimmed a fruit tree unless it was absolutely necessary. Now ... pass me the clippers!
I appreciate your condolences, we miss my dad a lot. I am so encouraged that The Busy Gardener has been helping you in your growing journey. And glad you're getting after the pruning without fear!
Sorry for your loss. Hopefully time will help you heal. Thank you for having the strength to and composure to put out this great video. I probably somewhere around an '8' when it comes to pruning, but you showed some great points and promise to prune my lime tree/bush today.
Like a 4-5. I’ve got a lemon tree that’s about 10-12ft tall and it’s bushed all the way to the ground. I’ve been wanting to to trim it way back around the trunk to where it’s actually like a tree again with an exposed trunk, but I’m scared that that much trimming will harm it. Edit: misheard the scale. Original answer made me seem more confident than I am
Hi Doreen. Summer pruning is totally fine to do now. You're not going to benefit from a lot of additional growth this late in the season, but I'm a fan of any energy going into the desired growth vs into branches you're gonna remove in winter. Thanks for your condolences 😊
… I am looking at installing “combination fruit trees” … such as a four in one apple tree … are there different guidelines or criteria for pruning these in order to keep them small and manageable … ? … thanks
Main difference in pruning multiple grafted trees is to 1) plant it with the weakest branching facing the south west so it gets preferred sunlight. 2) prune to keep all the different grafts in balance. You'll often have a grafted cultivar or two which are naturally more vigorous. Prune those more heavily
I like to prune in the summer for size, and in the winter for detail. Check out the this playlist of pruning vids I've done for some tips! ua-cam.com/video/Ey_j0Dtw3Nc/v-deo.html
Hi Cameron , HAPPY NEW YEAR. It has been a while. hope all is well with you and family. Missing your knowledge and know how on UA-cam. hope to see you soon.
*Scale of 1-10, how intimidating is pruning your fruit trees?*

Thanks, Bowtie. It's a tough thing to stay on top of pruning (one of my biggest slacks 😑) but pays off. Like going to the gym!
sorry to hear about your dad - I remember you showing us he and his orchard years ago - Cedric
I appreciate it Cedric. We lost a champion.

Wow, Thanks Grace! And thanks for being a TBG member for a year. You've earned the blue badge!
Thats got to be a tough decision. So sorry about your dad.
So should I do summer pruning now? I've only ever done winter pruning. Sorry to hear about your Dad.
