Great video. I concerned about my central leader growing so tall but you answered it! Mine has already leafed out. Should I wait til next year to prune?
If it's pruned while the tree is fully dormant typically, no. You can purchase this sealer and use as needed on larger cuts or wounds. www.starkbros.com/products/tools-and-supplies/tools-and-equipment/ferti-lome-pruning-sealer/H145478?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwwMqvBhCtARIsAIXsZpYfUAFqTT1jsB_nsY97cNseiPU3PwhuUfzISDWAtBJsJnpeIIAw6DcaAmHmEALw_wcB
Would you recommend in this situation to cut down most of central leader and keep it like a delayed open centered position ? So more sunlight and air to the tree?
Can you prune a pear tree to an open center? I like the open center because it's easier to keep the tree short so I can pick the fruit without a ladder.
I have a question on another video you made, I want to spray horticulture oil and liqui -cop like your video but its mid-February now up to 70degrees and there are some small buds popping up. Why should I not or should spray now or just don't worry about it? My potted fig trees got what looked like rust last year Thank you for any info you have.
Ideally Dormant spray should be applied when the trees are fully dormant with tight buds. Tight buds=perfect, swollen buds = hurry, open buds = too late, wait until next dormant season. There are some sprays labeled for rust treatment that can be used during the dormant season. www.starkbros.com/products/tools-and-supplies/pest-and-disease-controls/ferti-lome-2-n-1-systemic

Great video. I concerned about my central leader growing so tall but you answered it! Mine has already leafed out. Should I wait til next year to prune?
If the tree is already leafed out, it's best to wait until next dormant season. This tree was pruned in February in Missouri.
Thank you! You have given more information than others I have watched, and very informative information. Again thank you.
Hello! Thanks for the good video! Can you please tell me if I need to cover up the cut areas?

My Starks Burbank peach was loaded with peaches this year, I got to eat one before the groundhog got the rest. Doh!
