Honestly, I couldn't even find this damn pattern editor without your video, thanks for showing the steps to open it. Most videos just straight to using it. Why is this so hidden lol?
I’m a Studio One user, I love the features, thanks for this video. Helping the community of music makers is essential. I hope to see more demonstrations of the music creation features in Studio One. Tune in Friday for Presonus special event at 10:00 CST on Facebook and UA-cam. Thank you again.
Thanks for sharing. I could not find a video to tell me how to do my hi hats using Pattern Editor with Battery but in Studio One. Yeah for me. Keep sharing and helping us newbies.
Great stuff I have been using Studio One 5 Pro, since my transition from Cubase back in July this year And have a question for you. In the drum editor, I would like to use Damage 2, for example. Can I change the individual drum note quantize values ,independently per drum sound? Thanks
So this is really helpful, thank you. However, in the edit mode, where you select the instrument, I'm only getting a choice GM Drums (GEN MIDI drums)....even though I've dragged IMPACT XT into the track. How do I get that window to show (and map) the instrument into the pattern editor? Thanks!
At 4:40 when I want to make a beat in loop ,my loop is strange it's playing and stop at the and ,before to restart again, how can I solve the problem?thank you
Hello, May I ask a question please : Whan you have a signature in 6/8, why the pattern mode shows a pattern for 4/4? that would be a good feature request so the pattern view would match with the time signature
The Major Problem with patterns is not being able to use the 'groove' editor with them only static swing. As a house producer this is essential to me. You can use the groove editor with the Midi drum editor though. Presonus needs to implement this because patterns are very good otherwise i'm stuck with the drum editor
Very nice presentation! I'm feeling inspired. A question: if you create a melodic pattern, and you want to use the pattern but change the key, is there a fast way? For instance, you have a riff in C but want to go to the same riff in F. Thanks for the video.
Yes, Just load an instance of Impact XT and right click the pads that you would like to change. You could also just use the blank XT format if you don't want to use any factory presets.
Great stuff, just got studio 5. is there a way of routing each drum hit to a dedicated mixer/console channel, or does the whole pattern go into one mixer/console channel. if not then i guess the other way is to have a separate track for each drum hit but the the word tedious comes into play here.
The reason why some people use the QWERTY keyboard to enter drum hits in patterns mode is accessibility. Not everyone has the motor control to use a mouse.
Instead of going to the menu, or right click menu, just hold the Alt key on PC and double click left mouse button to insert a pattern block where you want it or simply create a macro button for Insert Pattern that you can then assign to a shortcut key. That's much faster.
I wouldn't say I've switched. I still have and use Pro Tools when I need to. But Studio One has become my go to for sure. It is really awesome. It does need some improvements, like the ability to extract multiple audio tracks from a video clip. Pro Tools does this easily while it can't be done in S1. Although I'm sure not many people need that function. One of the things I really love about S1 is the FX chains. I can take my voice track for a UA-cam video, throw it in S1, drag my 'benoni SM7B voice' FX Chain onto the track, make minimal adjustments, and render. Then throw the audio into an NLE and start editing. It's so fast. Also really love the Patterns and Drum Editor. So much better than trying to use a normal piano roll to program drums. I don't regret buying S1 at all.
@@BenoniStudio Thanks for taking the time. I'm not surprised you like FX chain as a lot of protools users mention this one. Studio One seems to have the best workflow overall. That's why I'm switching. I can always go back to Cubase if it doesn't work out as planned. I might also switch to Reaper if they add chord track v.6.
At some point in time, I think with V4, all of a sudden S1 got really, really deep. It has been advancing at a rapid clip. And all good things too. I've been there since S1 V2 and it is simply stunning how it has matured. It started from a whole new code base by the german audiomeisters who cut their teeth on Cubase. But under the sponsorship of Presonus, they have gone balls out in developing this codebase It is now mature, but solid. Cakewalk, Cubase, even ProTools, are too rickety a codebase for future sucess. They are going to start looking very old in the near future. But of course, my opinion is just that. Your opinion and experiences might be different.
Not sure what you mean. You should be able to insert a MIDI part and start programming. If the keymap isn't showing you might try creating your own or go to Cloud - Pitchnames and download the keymap for SD
This is common to any pattern editor / step sequencer in any DAW: Resolution is the note length each step represents, and steps is the amount of steps for that specific pattern. So resolution and steps both at 16 means the pattern will be one bar/measure long, since it's 16 x 1/16 notes. 8 steps at resolution 16 would be half a bar, 8 steps at res. 4 would be 2 bars (8 quarter notes).. etc etc
This pattern editor is so disorganised. The fact you constantly have to change your drum pattern back when you create a new one is annoying, I wish presonus would change that.
I rarely leave comments, but this is really in depth and the best tutorial I’ve seen on the pattern mode. Thank you!

Cool man, thanks for the view 👍
gonna be world of music......ive been playing since mid 70s and been to studios. now i have this awesome.
God bless you for taking your time to teach this.

. . for how long did I struggle with boring obedia . . . wasting time . . . and now, this is straight to the point. THANK YOU !!!
thanks for the view and comments 👍
Glad I found you!! I like your approach. Wish me luck.
Best Studio One sequencer walkthrough on the web. Thanks. This explained so much in such a short time.
Very good breakdown man! You did a great job breaking things down in an orderly, concise way.
Fantastic walk through! Thanks!
Thanks mate. Most other S1 pattern videos don't talk about how an external drum vst works with patterns.
Well done!

God damn ive been looking for ever for this information. I thought I was gonna be stuck programming drums through cakewalk til I died lol

Excellent video, perfectly explained !!! Thanks !
Thank you very much. Very good video. You are good👍🏻❤️. you helped me a lot. Thank you
This is the very best video on S1 Patterns I’ve seen ... 🙏 and I learned some new things !! Thank you for this in depth explanation 🤩🥳
Thanks 👍
Real !
Yes it is. agreed.
Very thorough and easy to follow. Thank you so much.
That was awesome! Thanks so much for putting that together, I feel ready to make patterns in S1 now
Really excellent. I didn’t know that was in there everyday something new,!!
Fantastic video.
Very nice very helpful thank you...
Thanks for sharing. Great video. Learnt something new!
Holy shit dude i love you for this! I finally figured it out (with your help)...
Thanks for the great video, learned a lot much appreciated thanks
Thanks you very much, you are the best
Thank you, this was awesome
so helpful, this is exactly what I need.
Nice video and very well explained. In patterns, can each drum have its own mix channel, or is it just all on one track?
Best video ever man
Thanks mate
can we split the different drum parts like bass, snare, etc to each different channel?
Super
Great stuff

Switching to S1 from Reason. Great video btw
Thanks for the view. Enjoy S1, it's a great DAW.
TY for video. Guys, plz, how to sidechein bass and kick in pattern?
At 4:40 when I want to make a beat in loop ,my loop is strange it's playing and stop at the and ,before to restart again, how can I solve the problem?thank you
How can we select the patterns and move to the next octave?

Duplicate the variation, select all and then drag up or down which will change the key
Great tutorial!!! And studio one is awesome....I have worked with Ableton and Cakewalk but this daw it's much better!!!
Is there also a pattern mode for Piano Roll?
wich version of studio one do you use
Can you import your own samples, kick, snare etc into the Studio One step sequencer and if so how?
Yes, Just load an instance of Impact XT and right click the pads that you would like to change. You could also just use the blank XT format if you don't want to use any factory presets.

Does it automatically.

Can you nudge drums one studio one in drum pattan ir return to paino mode
is it possible the change the pitch of snare or kicks ?
Yes, you can do that with Impact XT and other virtual sample controllers like sample one ect.
@@MrJkalebby I have Studio one 5 Prime version, so there is no ImpactXT. Is it possible to do without ImpactXT?

Thank you for sharing both of those ways to insert a pattern block!
Is it possible to make triplet beat using pattern mode ?if yes, how ?
You just have to change the resolution to triplets
>> G U L P
How does the Accent Feature work ?
Keep in mind that insert pattern is only available as a right+click option if you used it recently. Otherwise it doesn't show up.
You're glad you switch to S1? any regrets? I'm planning on doing that.

I'm using Studio One Artist 4 I hit incert pattern and that's it that's all it'll let me do?? I can't pull up the edit screen??
Get pro version. If you have not I reccomend it. I got my copy through splice.
SORRY MISTER..CAN I INSTALL STUDIO ONE IN THE SAME COMPUTER I USE FL STUDIO??
Yes.
@@BenoniStudio THANKS .I WIL DO THAT BUT THERS ONE PROBLEM...THE PLUGINS I HAVE INSTALLED IN FL STUDIO,WIL NOT OPEN

But once that done how do you convert into audio
Right click track header, convert to audio track.
How would you set Superior Drummer up in the drum editor mode in Studio One?

Time to update 4.6 some new features
yep. 👍
The piano shows but the drum doesn’t do I need a upgrade
Why does no video explain the Steps and Resolution relationship better?

You try to say to many things at the same time, can't follow you, please organize your mind on advance.
you make music like robots ..i know this is a demo.. but no soul.. at all..
LMMS is far better.
Great video! Well explained, thank you, kind sir!
