Very nicely done, I have been watching many videos on how to maintain a steam fired gas boiler which is in the house my son just bought and i realized that i need a refresher course on my gas furnace and this was exactly what i needed. Thank You
No need to clean the ignitor, it is a HSI it is ceramic and really easy to break. You should not remove it unless it is already broken. Yes, you should clean the flame sensor.
Absolutely! Last year the float switch on my sump pump went. That switch isn't available locally so I ordered it. Thankfully I was able to coax the original worn-out switch to work just long enough until the new one arrived! I was inches away from a basement flood situation. All due to a $15 switch! Excellent advice. Thank you billnipp2309....🙂
@ODucks55 My apologies that the video didn't help. I will strive to do better in the future. There are many furnace videos out there. Hopefully you can find one that has what you need. Happy Holidays :)
Sand paper will make grooves in the flame sensor that will cause it to give you hassle. Better to use a dollar bill or scotch Brite pad to clean sensor
The easiest way to tell why your furnace is not working is to look at the lights on the motherboard and see what they are doing and then look at the inside of the cover and see what the troubleshooting guide says.
Yes, agreed. I've seen the chart on how many LED flashes, what sequence and what different flash patterns mean. Quick way to pinpoint an issue. Thanks for the feedback!

@JackZimmerman-o8y Thank you sir...I try to be as clear as I can. I appreciate your feedback. Happy Thanksgiving!
Kitties 😸 are definitely good supervisors, and good for supplying moral support!
She's my pal! Got stuck in the ceiling yesterday while I was routing new ethernet cable!

Great feedback, thank you!
definitely would not recommend to clean hot surface ignitor.
It's smart to have on hand a spare ignitor and flame sensor. Since those are the most common to fail. ty

Did you really put that big filter in backwards at 10:27?
No, just the box that holds the filter. Filter direction inside is correct...
@@fixeverything4uoh, that's what you were getting at about the high cost of the 4" filters. Cool idea.
The title says “tune up” as in improving the furnaces efficiency. So what exactly did you improve? All I saw was a lot of cleaning.

@Psa354318 Good advice. The smoother the better...
Flame sensors have a coating. Not recommended to use sand paper.

@@fixeverything4u no problem. Just figured since i was a licensed hvac technician up till 2010 id give some of my knowledge.
Absolutely! I've learned a lot over the years and anything shared from outside feedback helps us all learn even more! Much appreciated!!
Great video , needs more of it. Thanks
Wtf?
