Great reaction. When the song first came out a lot of people really didn't like it - the studio version has a lot of autotune and effects and a lot of those people thought they would and could not perform it live. They were happily proved very wrong. I saw them do this at Hammersmith, London and they took the roof off (what was left of it after the first few songs).🤘 This is what Su said about it in an interview: SU-METAL: That was my first rap experience. For most of my recordings up until now, I would sing “la la laa” to create a sort of vocal line, and then lyric writing began based on that. But it was different for this track, they had a backing track and lyrics, and then told me to try rapping. So at first I was still trying to figure it out. In hiphop they call it…it was like…ah, I forget! MOAMETAL: Wasn’t it…f-…fall? SU-METAL: Uh…what was it… KOBAMETAL: Flow? SU-METAL: Flow! (laughs) To get a feel for the flow, I made a lot of different attempts to figure out what would be good. Like how to descend and ascend in pitch, and which timing would be the best to try the pitch changes. Even for the same phrase I’d try going a little ahead of the beat or a little bit behind it, while keeping the whole track’s balance in mind." You got it - BMC probably means BABYMETAL Cypher (or BABYMETAL Metal Cypher ... a cypher being some sort of rap battle apparently and the official MV backs this up), but some of us are still holding out for Bring Moa Chicken.🍗 In another interview the first question: Q: "How are you feeling right now?" MOA: "Hungry, I need to eat fried chickens".
Babymetal live is the best way to experience to these songs. Their dance moves along with the music, stage set up and audience participation is the total package. The albums or the videos dont do them justice at all.
Great reaction, thanks! "BxMxC" probably stands for BABYMETAL Metal Cypher but we prefer Bring Moa Chicken. 🤣 Because she loves food and she always makes sure everyone knows. Yeah, there is nothing "cute" in "BxMxC". It's actually pretty aggressive in all its aspects... and I like it! I admit I was quite skeptical when the studio version first came out. Not much into hip-hop (basically at all) and even less into voice effects (the studio version has tons of them). BUT then I listened to the live performance from Legend Metal Galaxy and I had to change my mind. Because Su-metal kills it live, the Kami Band sounds brutally heavy and the choreo is absolutely badass. Lesson learned! 😅 🤘🦊
Bruh… that pause tho at 1:30 - Momometal Hadouken! 😆🤣🔥 This song always slaps. Su-metal is putting a pretentious opponent to shame for having to “defend their prideful ego”. Check out *Rondo of Nightmare (Budokan 2014)* for something dark and ominous! 🤘🦊
Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。I witnessed this very performance at Budokan in 2021 when they held 10 concerts taking risks in the midst of COVID19 pandemic. (All of the audience followed the strict rules and countermeasures required by Team BM). Su-Metal is singing about some established style which used to be revolutionary and literally "stylish" but has turned already hackneyed or obsolete like an "Illusion of Rusted Chain" (last phrase of Su's rapping). Lyrics are suggesting breakthrough in or change to the status-quo (including the status of BM itself). When I heard the studio version of BxMxC for the first time, I was skeptical that this challenging song would be played live on stage. But they did it flawlessly with clear vocal and sharp choreo. I, a poor skeptic, had to beg our Queen & Princesses for their forgiveness. 🥶 I enjoyed this song many times thereafter. Then I believe I have being absolved.
Great reaction! Yep, BABYMETAL Cypher, or "Bring Moa Chicken" 🤣 "BxMxC" ALWAYS blows the roof off the venue where it is performed! Su-Metal is a beast 😎
Glad you reacted to this. Legend MM 2024 performance is in 4k and actually has Su-metal singing it slightly different and also the back tracking has growls (Momometal?). There best performance of BMC. Also this 2021 performance is before Momoko (you can she does not have a mic) became permanent member and became Momometal. Up until this point she was just an avenger with just dancing.
The thing that gets me with Su rapping is she does it so much better than actual so-called rappers. Maybe some rappers need to have Su teach them how to rap. Lol
the most innovative band of the last decade...absolutely original...BxMxC opened a new frontier for BABYMETAL to explore...I hope they do more things like this
Both the BxMxC MV & live versions are a confluence of several pop-culture themes. Musically, it is BM's 'meta' (self-referential) take on trap metal (rather than rap metal per se) done in a 'cypher' style (old hip-hop slang for freestyle rap battle). Su-metal, a novice at rapping, continues to stun everyone with her live renditions (without the vocal effects in the studio recording). The audience, so used to crowd participation, would have little to do except chant the song title, & just soak in the sight of Su impressively 'spitting fire' (intensity & emotional delivery) & 'dropping bars' (technical skill & lyrical rhyming) the rest of the way. 'Tenkaichi Budokai' (World Martial Arts Tournament) is a concept also seen in, notably, Dragon Ball Z. BM first debuted their own metal version of this live at Red Night Budokan 2014 (aka Giant Corset Festival, a title that was connected to their first-ever solo gig aka Legend Corset Festival in 2012). BM then revived the concept again for the BxMxC MV (2019), which their svengali Kobametal said the video creators were inspired by the rap battles in the movie '8 Mile' as well as the Abema TV series 'Freesyle Dungeon'. A word at this point about BM's 'lore'. The basic narration has the Fox God (a masked Kobametal) summoning the trio & either the Babybones (mine backing band) or later the Kami Band (real tour band) to spearhead a 'Metal Resistance' against 'power idols' (as first vaguely depicted in 2013's Ijime Dami Zettai MV). After BM went abroad in mid-2014 & encountered real-life toxic backlash from metal elitists, they metaphorically included this struggle into 2016's 'Karate' MV, where they had to duel with proverbial monsters (with a plot twist at the end). For 2019's 'BxMxC' MV, a similar battle took place anew, this time video-game style in a 'Tenkaichi Metal Budokai' (rap battle venue) where they had to defeat several metal gatekeepers (monsters), overcome the final boss, & were triumphantly enthroned to cheering followers (a la the anarchic ending of 2019's The Joker movie). On the tour circuit, BM's major live gigs (filmed for video releases) are usually titled 'Legends', tasking them to prevail through sheer performance skill & turn their shows into storied & acclaimed feats (something they would always live up to). The 'Legends' are then categorized into 'Chapters', with the 'Metal Resistance' era (BM's first decade) comprising ten such chapters. Their Japanese Wikipedia page has this chronology in detail. Repertoire-wise, their milestones are as follows: Doki Doki Morning, Iine! & Headbanger (Prologue); IDZ & Megitsume (Ch.1); 'Sonisphere UK 2014' gig (Ch.2); Road Of Resistance (Ch.3); Karate (Ch.4); 'Five Fox/Big Fox Festival' gigs (Ch.5); 'Legend S Baptism XX' gig (Ch.6); the troubled 'darkside' 2018 year (Ch.7); 'Babymetal Awakens' gig (Ch.8); 'Babymetal Arises' gig (Ch.9); '10 Babymetal Budokan' gigs (Ch.10). They then went on a short hiatus ('The Other One' concept album) coincidentally during the pandemic, before embarking on their second decade with a new era ('New Babymetal') in 2023.

We're so close to enjoy this live at Latin American Tour, i can't wait for it.
the most innovative band of the last decade...absolutely original...BxMxC opened a new frontier for BABYMETAL to explore...I hope they do more things like this
BxMxC: Babymetal Cypher or Bring Moa Chicken:-
BxMxC is rap-metal and uses a custom 9 strings guitar, that is why the tone hits hard. This is Su-Metal first time rapping and she is spitting bars and this is why Su-Metal is versatile and can sing any genre given. This is the upgrade version of "Iine" which have rave and hip-hop influence. BxMxC reference is either Bring x Moa x Chicken or Baby x Metal x Cypher.
BABYMETAL "CUSTOM ESP E-II MF-9" GUITAR 🎸:-
The ESP E-II MF-9 Babymetal guitar is a collaboration between the band and the Japanese arm of ESP, and boasts a mighty 27.99″ scale with a whopping nine strings attached. Welp - here I was thinking that seven strings were too hard to conquer.
With a deluxe bound Black Stain finish and Babymetal’s logo stamped on the back of the headstock, the ESP E-II MF-9 Babymetal model also features an alder body and a three-piece, hard maple thin-U shaped neck, with 24 extra jumbo frets and a pau ferro board with Luminlay dots to spill your chops across. A Hipshot fixed bridge and Gotoh tuners keep everything in tune, while a lone EMG 909 humbucker and volume knob keep you covered in the tone department.
