Great reaction. There is a full English version of 'The ONE', this was the original half and half English-Japanese version. This was at the Yokohama Arena and the finale for the second night. The giant fox heads made to look Sphinx- like were possibly an homage to Iron Maiden's Powerslave stage. Their producer asked them what they wanted to do on stage - they told him they wanted to fly. The floating pyramid was the result. They have said they feel sorry for the fans at the back of arena shows being so far from the stage, so they do try to find ways to get closer to them if they can. Moa and Yui said it was difficult sticking to the choreo when they really wanted to wave at all the people below them - Moa said she dared not look down in case her happy tears fell onto the fans. As they toured the world they realised foreign fans had been learning their Japanese lyrics to sing along. They were very moved and felt they must do something to reciprocate and show their appreciation, so they challenged themselves to learn a song completely in English. 'The ONE' is that song - it is dedicated to the fans (who they also named The ONE of course) and is effectively BABYMETAL's love letter to the fans.❤ 'The ONE' was originally part of another song - a full on Prog Metal song called 'Tales of the Destinies', but was separated out quite early in the writing process. On the album TotD flows into 'The ONE' with a beautiful piano bridge linking the two songs. That was also what happened the only time they played TotD live - that was at the Tokyo Dome in 2016 at the end of the first night in front of a sold out crowd of 55,000.
Congrats! EU/UK Arena Tour (incl. The O2) in May 2025 has been announced today. Probably BM will continue to perform in European festivals thereafter. What shall I do here in Japan😢 except for twiddling my thumbs.
@@flugelhornoldman1362 I have bought tickets for the O2🥳 - it is nearly a year since they were here last, it will have been 18 months by May. You will get your chance again🦊🤘
This performance with the girls literally flying over the fans must have been so amazing for both the fans and the girls (no acrophobics in Babymetal). Great reaction. It's always appreciated when a reactor's honesty about the performance come through. Nice job with this one and again such an incredible performance by everyone involved with Babymetal. I can't even imagine the planning and work that go into staging a performance like this?!
The One is Babymetal's love letter to the fans. As you may know, Babymetal's fans are called "The One", and this song is Babymetal's tribute of appreciation to the fans. When Babymetal started touring internationally, they noticed that fans all over the world were singing along and they were touched that the fans had learned the Japanese lyrics, so they wanted to reciprocate by singing a song in English for the international fans. There are actually a few different versions of The One. There is the original Japanese version (which is a mixture of Japanese and English), the English version, the "Stairway to Living Legend" version, and the First Take version. The One is a song that gets slightly mixed responses from fans as a song, but as an experience to be part of at a live show, there's nothing quite like it. They don't play it live all that often anymore, usually only bringing it out for special occasions, the last of which was at Legend MM for Momometal's birthday, which I got to see live. Personally I love it because it's also extremely proggy and because of the feeling of unity in the crowd when then perform it, and also because I'm a sucker for a big power metal anthem. Yes, they really built those giant Anubis looking fox heads and had them blowing smoke. Babymetal headline shows in Japan have some of the most epic production design you will see from any band. The triangle floating above the crowd with them on it was part of the finale of the show. Apparently Kobametal asked the girls what they wanted to do for the debut performance of this song and they said that they wanted to get as close to the fans as possible, so Koba had this rig built so they could go out into the crowd and sing The One to the fans. Moametal said that she wanted to cry due to how emotional she felt, but she was worried that she might drip on the fans below. The performance was at Yokohama Arena in December 2015. The arena holds about 17,000 people. It's the same venue as this year's Legend MM. There are certain numbers and shapes that have special meaning in Babymetal lore. Obviously the number one is important, because the fans are The One. Three is also important, because there are three members of Babymetal, and the triangle is also significant for the same reason. The symbol that they are tracing out in the air is a triangle. Four is also important because four in Japanese is "shi", but shi 死 also means "death", which is why the number four is considered unlucky in Japanese culture, however because it's very metal, they embrace the number for, and they even have a song about it called "4 No Uta" (Song 4).
Awesome, this is an amazing tribute song to all of Babymetal's fans, collectively known as, "The ONE". They did a full English version too since they were touched by all the overseas fans who learned the lyrics to their songs. Also, the girls said they kinda wish they didn't have to follow the planned choreography, as they really wanted to look down and wave to the fans. 🤘🦊
⚡ 💀 💕 /🔺 This was at Yokohama Arena. BABYMETAL did headline shows on December 12th and 13th, 2015. Those were the final dates of the 2015 BABYMETAL World Tour. Apparently, none of the members are afraid of heights. They said the most difficult thing was to stick to the choreography, when they really wanted to wave to the fans below. : )
Hehe, yes, the stage was real, fog included 🤣 It was a HUGE nod to "Iron Maiden", too. Most people won´t recognize it, but as I´m a rather old geezer, I know the LP cover graphics of Iron Maiden´s "Power Slave" Album and was immediately reminded to it, as soon as I saw this amazing stage setup. The beginning of this performance was cut for the official video, so sadly nobody could see BABYMETAL´s interpretation of the glowing Pyramidion from the IM Album cover... amazing, too! Interesting that you anticipated them floating above the crowd, although they were over the stage at that point. I was SO amazed when I saw them floating from the stage to over the crowd at the Yokohama Arena. Stunning! IMHO, the most amazing performance of this beautiful song, which is BABYMETAL´s love letter to all their fans all over the world.
Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 BM and BM's fanbase accept anyone for who they are. This song is a kind of symbol of the unity. Some people says this song is a shade bit too repetitive. But in their live performance you feel as if the length of this song were only 30 seconds and want to listen to it forever. I witnessed it total 13 times at venues. Whenever they performed this song, I saw ethereal beauty and heard angelic voices. This 2015 version is amazing by Su's voice with juvenile beauty but her matured and richer voice in recent shows sounds like her embracing us all.
In Babymetal lore, "The one" are the fans of Babymetal. Those are foxes in the background on stage. As also in Babymetal lore, the fox god and the metal god came together and created the 3 metals. Su-Metal, Moametal, Yuimetal, and after Yuimetal left, now Momometal. The hand gesture they use is known as a Kitsune. Similar to the heavy metal horn gesture, it is a fox gesture.🦊🤟
