No woman is going to stand for that so she put Furio in mortal danger just to hurt Tony's ego. No way would they kill a highly respected made man in Italy like Furio who is also related to a Don's wife just because Tony's wife was in love with him, and with Furio doing nothing to her at all.. And if Tony truly placed a hit on him it would effectively mean war between his tiny glorified crew and the mafia over in Naples, as there is no way he would be OK'd for that hit. In that case NY + Naples would probably waste no time to whack him, they all now had a perfectly legit reason to kill him that even his subordinates would see reason with as Tony would be breaking the code of the mafia if he had Furio killed.
Furio behaved honorably. He sold his new house and returned to Italy as soon as he realized Carmela had feelings for him. He left before there was even the appearance of scandal. If only Carmela had just kept her mouth shut.
Furio is an authentic made man from Italy and Tony is a leader of a glorified crew. Tony's threat is equivalent of Jackie Jr's catchphrase: "You know who my father was?".
The Neapolitan mob probably took Tony's money and laughed all the way to the bank. Whack one of their own guys because the housewife of the boss of a glorified crew in North Jersey had a crush on him? The zips would ice Tony before they'd ever touch Furio.
True the old country boys are smarter about doing things fir example when Ralph beat that girl to death outside of "the bing" they would have probably killed him later because he made a mess that could potentially screw everything up and they have more honor, sure they love money like everyone else but also see the bigger picture.
"Glorified Crew"? You mean that Pygmy thing they got going on over in Jersey? They don't even do the finger pricking. We decapitate and work with what's left, Make it happen". And don't forget my Shine box.
Carmella has a big mouth. She told Tony about Junior going down on his woman and has to know Tony would say something. It ruined the relationship and could have gotten the woman killed. Now just to hurt Tony she ruins Furio's ability to work in the States
The way Tony shouts 'Rim Shot!' and then instinctively looks around for approval. He's used to having underlings laughing at his jokes and agreeing with him. He's angry because he can't play the numbers game against Carmella.
I think you missed the Mark there on your interpretation of what happened, AJ is playing the drums in the background and when he yelled rim shot he looked back and up towards AJ’s room where AJ is playing the drums ya know how the “rim shot” is made with drums after a joke is made. Like his joke of rim shot.... How in the world you came up with he looked around like he was looking for approval from his underlings 🙄 wow.... I hope you don’t have kids...

I feel like furio was the only one in Tony’s crew that never did any stupid shit tbh he was always focus and got straight to the point, he definitely meant business and never got distracted by petty shit ( I guess besides Carmela) he was silent, precise and deadly unlike the others. Part of that might be because he’s from the other side I’m guessing idk but he was one of my favorites.
Excellent assessment but I'll disagree with one thing. Furio fit your description but not so much because he wasn't American as he wasn't personally familiar with anyone. He was new not only to the country but the entire family. Everyone from NJ was in everyone else's face because they'd all known each other all of their lives. Furio was an outsider, new it town and a true employee to boot.
Given David Chase's prediliction for doing the unexpected, I was actually expecting the series to end with Tony defeating all his enemies, going out into the garden with a big smile on his face and then being eaten in a surprise attack by the bear.
I love the attention to detail on Sopranos. Especially when they're eating. You know Tony is actually eating all that food!! In other shows and movies no one touches anything. Its so corny.
Which is wrong but it’s also wrong to just be a stay at home wife wanting nothing but gifts and money and acting as if it’s still enough for you. Carmella got everything she wanted and had to do no work for it but still acted like it wasn’t enough and tony was wrong for how he got his money and fortune even tho she mainly benefited from it while taking no real risk like he did.
lets be real here. it is made perfectly clear that Carmella WANTS to have an affair with every man she finds attractive. she has kissed other men (at least one), and ALMOST did it with the wallpaper guy (if he hadn't bounced on her). Carmella would have a body count almost as big as Tony's if it wasnt for something getting in the way right before the deed was to be done.
I wonder if Tony genuinely believes that Italy would kill a made guy on the word of a fat New Jersey crook. He's so delusional at this point in the series.
The Italian mafia are strong on tradition though over there, disrespecting another made guys wife could be a death sentence, and not just another made guy a boss of a family, they still do a lot of business with the american mafia
He's not delusional at all, in fact he becomes less delusional each season. By the end of series he truly accepts the kind of man he is, you can see that he's not even justifying his horrible actions anymore.
Hes either lying to get at Carmela or hes hired some outsiders, russian guys or some shit. I dont think he would actually believe the Italians would take out Furio
The writing is just fricken brilliant. How real and engaging are there arguments? You forgot it’s a show sometimes.. Unbelievable acting and even better writing.
Ironically both Furio's fate after this episode and Tony's after the finale are unknown so there's always a possibility that Furio might have ended up out living Tony
I’m on season 5 and just want to say Tony’s pettiness is something else. It’s consistently hilarious how vindictive in small insignificant things he can be C: “He just had Coffee.” T: “Yeah...well now your coffee maker sucks!” (Satisfied tone)
somewhere in the multiverse is a reality where Furio walks up behind Tony in the Diner as Journey is playing... pop pop, drop the piece and keep walking out the door. Car ride to Florida and a Private Plane/Boat back to Italy.
If you've seen the episode in Italy, the Mafia there doesn't care about Tony and his crew in New York. They think they are soft, and uncultured amateurs so I 100% doubt they listen to him. Furio leaving was the smartest thing anyone has ever done in the show. There's no fixing this bunch and Furio was too smart to stay around
Tony never contacted anyone in Italy. He would have to tell them that his wife lusted after Furio. His ego wouldn't allow him to share that with anyone. He only said that to Carmela to get under her skin.
Tony couldn't have got to Furio without getting approval from the Naples Mafia first, Furio was made remember. Unless Tony had evidence of Furio sleeping with Carmela (which he never because they didn't) he'd never have gotten the okay to whack such a respected guy like Furio. And wouldn't have put a contract out privately with hitmen because it would have jeopardized his business dealings with Zucca. Likely he did nothing about Furio and just said this shit to get at Carmela.
When Tony went to Italy he realized those guys were waaaaaaay above him and those pork store hero sandwich eating clowns in Jersey. Furio went back he was safe cause the bosses didn't like tony to begin with.
There is a 100% chance furio went back to being a capo in Italy and they just told Tony “yeah we’ll keep an eye out” while they laughed at him

Tony to Italian mobster and caps: "If you see Furio, I would you to kill him for me." Italian mobsters and caps to Tony: "Who the hell are you? Do I know you?"
Tony’s from that Pygmy thing over in jersey
Yeah those guys looked at him and his crew like gum on their shoe. They probably told furio " That fat blimp from jersey called, his wife still wants to bang you bro."
Didn’t your dad get run over by a trolley
Even Carmella knows Furio is safe and sound and will stay that way 😂
she gave him up
let's not forget that she is some inocent victim
@@faisalkamal4319 She gave him up because she's female and it's written in female DNA that men are not allowed to win arguments no matter if someone gets killed in the process. Tony did to Carmela what women HATE the idea of men having the ability to do, which is dissect her. Tony picked apart everyone of her life decisions as a way to tell her "listen bitch dont play innocent you're no better than I am and you love the money and the life as much as anyone". No woman is going to stand for that so she put Furio in mortal danger just to hurt Tony's ego. It doesnt matter that Furio might DIE over it....nah...she needs to win that argument right then and there.
Every mob boss in Italy would immediately laugh after Tony hung up the phone.
You have a deep understanding of the mafia and organized crime of course.
@@Jon-1005 Enough to know he was seen as a joke to them. Lets face it Jersey was a joke to New York and they were right there.
The “Oh Rimshot” from Tony always gets me. Just the way he says it while doing a rimshot is too funny.
It would have been funny if AJ was listening and did a rim shot on his drums.
reminded me of michael from gta v when he said that
Vito out of nowhere pops his head through the window and says "did somebody say rimjob?"
😂
Yeah even Annalisa said he was one of her best Capos.
Tony can't touch Furio in Italy. He was the Don's cousin and her favourite soldier
The Neapolitan mob probably took Tony's money and laughed all the way to the bank. Whack one of their own guys because the housewife of the boss of a glorified crew in North Jersey had a crush on him? The zips would ice Tony before they'd ever touch Furio.
Yeah, it was a pretty harmless statement.
@@MichaelGiordano777 AND there's no sword on the table!

There are so many to plow, instead of her.... Don't get me wrong, Eddie Falco/Carmela as a character, greatg work! Just too many of these ladies around the show. :)) Rosalie...

Carmella would have a body count almost as big as Tony's if it wasnt for something getting in the way right before the deed was to be done.
she wanted to be with the alpha not doing anything and getting lots of money... there's a price for that...entited some heyyy!!

I wonder if Tony genuinely believes that Italy would kill a made guy on the word of a fat New Jersey crook. He's so delusional at this point in the series.
lvl 1 Crook vs lvl 100 Boss
The Italian mafia are strong on tradition though over there, disrespecting another made guys wife could be a death sentence, and not just another made guy a boss of a family, they still do a lot of business with the american mafia

Furio’s actor confirmed he became the Boss of the Naples family after Analissa got incarcerated. Good for him.
Furio went on to become an art dealer; finding a rare and undervalued piece at an auction - which netted him millions of dollars in pure profit.

T: “Yeah...well now your coffee maker sucks!” (Satisfied tone)
somewhere in the multiverse is a reality where Furio walks up behind Tony in the Diner as Journey is playing... pop pop, drop the piece and keep walking out the door. Car ride to Florida and a Private Plane/Boat back to Italy.
With Carmela on his arm, and his two new stepchildren behind.
Furio in the Golf course "Stupi di fucking game" best line ever!!!
The brilliance to this show - the main character is the antagonist. Creates a great dynamic.
1:51 is one of the funniest things ever in this Series
If Tony's goons were to ever approach Furio he'd tell them "Give me one tousand dollhairs."
Furio's more likely to hang out with those two nimrods in their underwear than to lust after Carm 🤣🤣
Tony asking Italy to clip Furio is a lot like Johnny asking NY to clip Ralph.
