The super cool "win" is that Orm was cast with Patrick Wilson, who doesn't normally have blonde hair, and was made to look like the traditional Aquaman in the comics because Momoa looks more like Orm in the comics. It was just a hunch of mine but I asked James Wan on IG about that and he was happy to confirm that, said that not many people know that.
@@pennplayz It was so cool for him to confirm that! I was watching the first film going, "Man, it's uncanny how much Patrick Wilson looks like Aquaman (from the comics), blue eyes, blonde hair... but he's not blonde so that had to be a choice -- so what's the reason?" Then I remember Orm was usually darker, long hair then it hit me that it must have been a swap.

I still don't know if Arthur was messing with Orm about eating those cockroach lol. Just Orm eating a burger with a live cockroach. God I can still hear that crunch lmao.
I really liked the effect when Mera ripped the hatch off Manta's octopod in the Atlantis fight, that it implodes from the pressure, requiring him to blast her away to buy himself time to wiggle free. As we know, rapid compression is... trouble.
Lee, you said Jim Henson's name in this one, I ask again that you do Everything GREAT About The Muppet Movie! The movie's 45 years old this and AND The Muppets are celebrating their 70th anniversary! Please!
The thing I hate is no one says anything about the great sets they built for this movie! Or IF they're CGI, that's also a win, imo, because they are phenomenal!
I saw this movie with a cousin of mine. When I left the movie, I asked him if this was an accurate description: "Our protagonist, who is royalty of an unknown region and who had a power-struggle with his brother over control of that region in the previous movie, now teams up with said brother who had been imprisoned for his previous actions after a family member is attacked and the two of them set out on an adventure. By the end, the brother is freed." I might've said more or less than that, but this was the general idea. When my cousin agreed to that, I then said "That's Thor: The Dark World." That wasn't a knock against this movie, I'm one of the weirdos who enjoyed Dark World :V On a more serious note, this was a fun romp from start to finish. I think I also made a note that it followed similar beats to the first movie, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. More importantly, I remember describing the action scenes as 'kinetic', and I never felt like things were hard to follow or nauseating. It might not have been this movie specifically, but it was around this time when I noticed that most of the movies I had enjoyed seeing were getting insanely hyperbolic "THIS IS THE DEATH OF CINEMA" types of articles whenever I tried to see what other people thought of it. It's fine to not like this movie, but the reactions were definitely out of hand.
I'm also one of the few people that like the dark world but even after watching cinema wins talk about it, I don't see anything interesting about this movie sadly. The interactions between Arthur and orm seem fun but that's about it. Guess this movie just isn't for me

I really wish Orm kept his long hair for a few extra scenes simply because it would be hilarious to see him having trouble keeping his hair out of his face only to have Jason silently offer him a scrunchie
I still find it amazing that after decades of Aquaman being a punchline in popular culture the movie solution to the problem was so simple. He's not a guy who talks to fish; he's a badass, who happens to be able to talk to fish. Jason Momoa was the best possible casting.
