@PineTree Sirens lol yes I know. Most of the sirens in my area were installed in the early 1960's for Civil Defense, weather warnings, and fire department use. In the late 1980's, however, they had been gone.
The tones you hear over the radio are actually our pager activation tones. The siren activation tones used to be a dual tone that immediately followed the long tone. This activated the siren. After the county upgraded the radios to the 800mhz system a few years ago they switched the remaining sirens in the county to alphanumeric activation on the higher frequency.
is at the sewage plant on oak drive you cant go in but you can look at it from the outside gates infront of the main entrance to the plant i've been there and took pics of it on my old tablet and put it on one one my old instagram accounts if you want to see it if u have instagram i'll give u my account name if intrested
It only takes that long because it was test day and the county dispatch goes through each department’s tones one by one starting with the lowest station number to the highest. There were 9 departments tones before this one.
Appreciate Video! Excuse me for the intrusion, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you ever tried - Rozardner Lucky Interview Reality (google it)? It is an awesome one of a kind product for firefighter interview tips minus the hard work. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my old buddy Taylor after a lifetime of fighting got cool results with it.

"Legend has it, those activation tones are still going to this day"
Lol 😂 they activate them one by one, so that's why it takes so long.
Where's the speaker for the activation tone?
The antenna that receives the signal to activate the siren is mounted inside the station on the wall above the siren control box.
Nice Hi Lo towards the beginning

I wish the 3T22A in my area (Oriskany VFD in Oriskany, NY) had sounded as good as this one!
Great video, and amazing shot!

Were these used during the Cold War or World War 2?
Cold War, but mainly the SD-10's in the L.A. and San Diego area in the 1950's and 1960's.

Notice there's still a clevis in the eye bolt up top. Makes a guy wonder if that's from when they originally lifted it up there...?

Where is the sentry siren located in mcsherrystown?
Westview Drive and Oak Lane, it's at some kind of maintenance building. Sorry for the late reply.
It’s on the sewage plant. It used to be mounted on the old McSherrystown fire company building.
@@theguythatwins2 what is the plant called?
@@killingtoncounty7360 doesn’t have a name. It’s on one of the out buildings of the conewago township sewage plant. It’s not accessible to the public.
Nice! Hopefully we’ll be able to meet up somewhere in Harrisburg!
Hopefully! Any ideas on where you'll go yet?
